Deadlines District & NMF Milestones
May, 2010 • Meet with NMF staff
• Hear back from the district regarding their conditions

finding a designer; project complete within 1 year
October/November, 2010 • Present design to wider community, then refine
• Present final plan, then get bids

If we were awarded funding from Autism Speaks and Gates PNW, in addition to NMF funding…
The timing is very different
• Next BEX levy vote is 2013• Work would occur on that list of schools between
2014++ and 2020.
• If we don’t make the 2013 list, we might make the following list, potentially slated for a 2019 vote
• Work would occur on that list of schools between construction 2020 through 2026.
When/if we get on a BEX Levy, the entire lower playground would be used as staging—thus we need to build-in some “portability.”
Self Help Team reviews application, sends list of conditions to meet prior to final approval, incl. insurance
2. Submit grant applications to outside agencies
3. Contact authorized play equipment vendors for ideas, prices, and designs
4. Select vendor in accordance with district-approved process
5. Order equipment after district risk management approves
6. Submit plan to district for review/approval
7. Vendors must certify that equipment meets CPS and ASTM standards.
8. The district signs plan as approved; we may order equipment
9. Once district’s conditions are met, district authorizes us to proceed with construction
10. Finalize grant contracts with funders
11. Arrange for district inspection
12. District “accepts” the new playground; becomes district property; district assumes maintenance
13. New playground opens
