Good Friday
April 1 9 at 7 :3 0 P.M. Good Friday is a
day to m ark the suffering and death
of Christ and our redem ption.
Worship will include scripture,
pray er, and the m usic of Gabriel
Fauré’s Requiem perform ed by
Adv ent's Festiv al Chorus and
orchestra.
Easter Vigil
This is the night! Saturday ev ening,
April 20 at 7 :3 0 P.M., is the first
joy ous celebration of Easter. The
congregation will gather outside near
the front door as the New Fire is lit.
We process with candles lit from the
Paschal candle into the sanctuary
and hear the Easter
Proclam ation sung. Groups or
fam ilies from our congregation will
creativ ely present stories from the
Old Testam ent, which trace God’s
sav ing acts. On this night there will
be a baptism , and we all can affirm
our baptism s. Then, we together
bring out the Easter decorations and
celebrate the first Holy Com m union
of Easter. There will be a festiv e
reception for all at the end of the
worship serv ice, and s’m ore’s from
the fire.
Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday is April 21 , with
festiv al worship serv ice at 9:3 0 A.M.
The alleluias will abound and the
Chancel Choir and strings will share

Easter Potluck &Fellowship
This y ear on Easter Sunday , we are
inv iting the fam ilies from Learning
and Lov ing Center (our second
quarter m ission) and the BCAC m usic
program to com e to serv ice and share
in the fun afterwards. We’ll hav e a
potluck brunch, egg hunt, and
crafts. Please bring a dish to share
and a dozen stuffed plastic eggs per
each child in attendance in y our
fam ily . Turn in y our dish and eggs
before serv ice. The older Adv ent
y outh will hide the eggs. View the

Register for BCACSpring Session
Register now for the spring session of
the Belov ed Com m unity Arts Center
which begins May 4. Experienced
m entors will lead classes on Saturday
m ornings. Children in grades 1 -1 2
are inv ited to participate in learning
to play guitar, hand drum s, v iolin
and singing.
Childcare PositionOpen
Adv ent Lutheran is currently seeking
a childcare worker who will keep the
infants and y oung children of the
congregation safe and prov ide good
and appropriate care for them during
worship and hour on Sunday
m ornings, and potentially during
other group m eetings during the
week, subject to the prov ider’s

Annual Food &FellowshipBBQ/Auction
Ev ery one is inv ited to our Annual
Food & Fellowship BBQ/Auction. We
need y our participation to achiev e
our goal for our sound sy stem update.
Please m ark y our calendars and com e
join us on Sunday , April 28th at 4:00
P.M. Tickets are on sale after church
in the narthex. The Adv ent y outh
will also be fundraising at the BBQ
with a bake sale and all proceeds will
go towards the sound sy stem update.

Guardian AngelTraining
AMMPARO (Accom pany ing Migrant
Minors (and their fam ilies) with
Protection, Adv ocacy ,
Representation, and Opportunity ) is
com ing to SF to do a training with
v olunteers who want to be court
observ ers and accom pany folks with
asy lum cases in SF Im m igration
Court. This im m igration court in San
Francisco is the only im m igration
court between Los Angeles and
Portland. The Sierra Pacific Sy nod
AMMPARO Team is offering Guardian
Angel training at St. Mark’s Lutheran
in San Francisco on May 1 8th from 9
am - 1 2 noon, 1 1 1 1 O'Farrell Street
(between Franklin and Gough). Please

Food of the Month
Adv ent collects non-perishable food
for the Reach Out food bank at St.
Catherine Church in Morgan Hill.
Food of the m onth for April is canned
fruit and juice. Other item s welcom e
any tim e are: hearty soups, chili with
m eat, tuna, pasta, rice, peanut
butter, jam , beans, and ev en baby
diapers. Item s can be placed in the
white wire baskets near the office at
Adv ent.
Second QuarterMission
Adv ent’s second quarter m ission
project will concentrate on assisting
the Learning and Lov ing Education
Center in Morgan Hill. The center
focuses on teaching skills, foster
hopes, and prov ide direction to adult
im m igrant wom en and their children
liv ing in the surrounding low and
extrem ely low incom e areas of our
local com m unity which are hom e to a
high concentration of isolated;
m arginalized, illiterate and
underserv ed wom en and children.
