Executive summary
Conclusion
The goal towards achievement of universal primary education has almost been
met.
Continuation and completion rates are still to low.
Significant disparities exist between racial groups.
% of population living in formal dwellings have increased.
Most households have access to water and electricity
80% of households use electricity for lighting.
The following challenges remain
The size of the labour force is growing mainly due to past trends in fertility and
mortality. Specific measures need to be taken to ensure this group is effectively
deployed.
The % of people above 20 years of age with matric and higher is still low. Thispose a big challenge as far as skills development is concerned.
The bucket toilet system is still prevalent in the Free state, Northern Cape and
North West.
