Who: 10th-12th graders What: Are you considering going into the teaching profession? In this class, you will get to use
“hands on” learning on how to plan a lesson, design engaging activities, as well as learning to
utilize brain-based learning techniques. Topics include cooperative learning, multiple
intelligences, growth mindset, metacognition, reading and writing strategies and more! Using
the topics that most interest you or the grade level you’re thinking you may want to teach, we
will write lessons and teach our friends. You will not only learn how to make material more
accessible to young people, but in the process, learn how you learn best. Finally, you can add
this experience to your college portfolio!

Babysitting 101 Workshop – Maternity Coalition: Karry Feldman
Who: Ages 11-14 yrs.
What: Join us for this interactive program designed to help young people become more
qualified and responsible as babysitters. Child care and emergency basics are covered.
Students should bring a snack, lunch and drink.

Who: Entering grades 5-9 What: Summer Band Camp & Beginner Lessons Where: CB West When: July 16- July 26 (two-week camp) Monday through Thursday Time: 8am-1pm “Morning” schedule has individual lessons built around ensemble class (see below). The Central Bucks Summer Band Camp and Beginner Lessons are designed to provide opportunities for student to learn and perform on a band instrument. Beginning band students will receive four 45-minute lessons on their instrument each week (totaling eight lessons). Lessons will be taught in either an individual or small group setting, depending on enrollment. A beginner is a student who has never taken lessons on their instrument.

Experienced band student will receive four 90-minute ensemble rehearsals and two 30 minute private/semi-private lessons each week (totaling 4 private lessons and 8 band classes). Lessons will be scheduled on either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Ensemble rehearsals will take place each day from 9:30-11:00, with the lesson schedule built before and after the ensemble class. iBuen viaje! – Beginner’s Conversational Spanish: Karyn Jakubik
Who: 5th – 7th graders
What: Learn about the Spanish-speaking world as you learn conversational Spanish! You will
learn colors, numbers, greetings, places to visit and activities to do. You will also learn to
express your likes and dislikes, to buy goods, to order food and more, all while you are planning
the vacation of your dreams. The course is useful if you are hoping to travel somewhere, or
getting you prepared for beginning your Spanish instruction in grade eight. You’ll have lots of
fun too!

Enter the dark city where a dangerous jokester and other evil villains wreak havoc.
Thankfully, there is a bat hero who comes out each night to fight against these evil-doers! The
good guys will ride into action, as campers build motorized models of the bat hero’s vehicle and
bat girl’s sleek Cycle. But keep the bat light searching for the evil jokester’s motorized low rider
vehicle, cruising through the city streets as well. Send the bat hero swinging on his grappling
hook technic model, from one skyscraper to the next, as he fights crime with his trusty super
sidekick. Campers will use their imaginations, building skills, and crime-fighting passion, in this
thrilling camp of bat heroes and villains!

Lights, cameras, LEGO® action! Use LEGO® bricks to tell YOUR story, complete with music,
special effects and all your favorite LEGO® mini-figure characters! In this unique and
creative camp, students will plan, script, stage, shoot, and produce their own mini-movie
using Stop Motion Animation. Working as a team, students will use LEGO® components to
build the set and props, then shoot their movie using a camera. Teams will use movie-
making software to add special effects, titles, credits and more. When the movie is
complete, campers will impress friends and family with a screening party on the last day of

1. Ready, Set, Science!: July 9-July 12 What: We’ve taken our after-school programs from 2017-18 and turned them into a
fun-filled week-long camp! Each day we’ll explore a different topic. We’ll make
exciting gadgets as we explore electricity. Build a circuit to create a buzzer, make an
electromagnet, create a device to detect static charge and construct a working
water wheel. Become chemists as we get knee deep in chemistry. Discover the

secret colors in candy, conduct heat sensitive experiments to make “mood slime”,
and make a mixture that acts like a liquid AND a solid. Create a chemical reaction to
launch film canister rockets, whip up some fizzy bath poppers and mix up a bubbling
density concoction. Become engineers as we explore some marvelous machines and
discover how they make work easier and more fun! Compete with your friends in a
pulley race, construct a lever to make a cook catapult, and explore gears that make
wind-up toys. Finally, we’ll create colorful beach bags using chromatography, make
super sidewalk chalk and build solar ovens!
2. Take a Dive: July 23 – July 26 What: Dive into the world of marine biology and oceanography!
Half Day: You’ll dissect a real shark, participate in a fisherman’s challenge, examine
the anatomy of a fish and learn the ancient technique of qyotaku or “fish rubbing”,
learn to survive at sea with a homemade solar still, create a kelp forest and make
your own submarine.
Full Day: Come face-to-face with some unique sea creatures! You’ll complete a
squid dissection, bring to life genuine Triassic Triops, conduct a whale adaptations
lab, and examine many weird wonders that live under the sea!
3. Fizz, Bang, Boom, Bot: July 30 – August 2 What do you get when you take the physics of motion, add in some electrifying
experiments, and mix it up with some chemistry? Everyone has a blast! In our half
day camp you’ll create your own motorized invention, experiment with light and
flight, make your own kaleidoscope and experiment with giant floating bubbles.
Stay for the full day and build your own motorized robot, use chromatography to
separate the colors in candy, mix up some crazy chemical reactions, build an electric
game, investigate the effects of air pressure, and compete in a tall tower
engineering competition! For children ages 7-11.

Mad Science
CRAYOLA: World of design – June 25th – June 28th
A summer camp that takes kids on a journey to the edges of their imagination – and beyond!
They learn about Mars, the rainforest, and cities of the future, and get engaged in the creative
design process to solve real-world problems. Each camp day focuses on a specific field of
design, and our young architects, illustrators and graphic designers develop their ideas from
concept, to sketch, to finished product. They bring their concepts to life by experimenting with
Crayola products, and exploring art techniques like sculpting, storyboarding, mixed media, and
collage. Combining art, design, fun active games and inspiring themes from around the world,
this camp is designed to inspire.

Secret Agent Lab – July 9th- July 12th
Look out 007 – the Mad Science Secret Agent Lab is in session! From decoding messages to
experimenting with metal detectors and night vision, children will have the opportunity to
check out spy equipment and step into the shoes of a detective!! Children will uncover the
science involved in gathering and analyzing evidence and the technology behind the locks,
surveillance systems and alarms. To test the limits of magnified observation, junior science
sleuths will build their own binoculars and develop ways to work together to refine their
observation skills. Campers will use what they have learned as they find, collect, and analyze
evidence and connect the dots to solve a simulated crime scene! Student bring lunch.

Jr. Physicians Academy - July 16 – July 19th In this camp, children will have hands-on fun as they learn about scientific equipment that is
near and dear to them – the human body! Campers will explore the science behind cells,
organs, muscles, and bones as they navigate through the systems that make up our astonishing
anatomy. Microslide viewers will aid in catching a glimpse of the tiny cellular machines that our
bodies need to function. Interactive experiments will develop a further understanding of our
organ systems, including our nervous, respiratory, circulatory, and digestive systems. Children
will construct model cells, make “Mad Mucus”, build stethoscopes and lung model, and work
together to assemble a model skeleton for an entertaining and educational week of camp!

Eureka: Young Inventors – July 23 – July 26th Calling all innovators!
Launch with Legends & Fly to the Future in the Full Day Inventor’s Camp! Anyone can be an
inventor! Discover the work of a da Vinci, Edison, Tesla, Verne, Asimov and more! Use what you
learn to invent solutions to everyday problems, prepare patent proposals, build catapults,

Who: Going into fourth and fifth
What: In this class, students will engage in healthy competition and play a variety of math
games that focus on everything from computation to probability. Some of these games include
24, Equate, Smack It, and Factor Captor. Over the years, students have always asked, “Why
does math matter?” This is a fair question, and this question serves as the focal point for the
class. In this course, students will learn and apply proven strategies to solve complex real-world
math problems. They will take on the role of architects to create blueprints for a building
project, as well as take on the role of entrepreneurs to create budgets for a start-up business.
We will also take on the role of accountants to complete kid friendly tax evaluation reports. By
the end of the course, students will gain a new appreciation for how math plays a vital role in
various career fields.

Jamison Elementary School
This coeducational course integrates the development of physical fitness and sports with units of study aimed at instilling health knowledge, desirable personal habits, positive attitudes, and good decision-making skills. This process of learning about the needs and care of the human mind and body is essential for optimal living. Three course options are available. Upon successful completion of PE60, a three week, 60 hour course, students earn ½ credit towards meeting the Central Bucks School District’s graduation requirements for physical education and health. Students may opt to earn ¼ credit towards meeting the Central Bucks School District’s graduation requirements by successfully completing either PE30A or PE30B- both 30 hour courses. This course is open to students who have completed 9th grade and up.
PE60 1/2 credit: July 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18, 19, 23, 24, 25, 26 8AM-1PM
PE30A 1/4 credit: July 9, 10, 11,12,16,17, 8AM-1PM

Due to the limited meeting dates for this course, it is imperative that students are
present for each class. If absent, students are responsible for arranging make-up

take PE30A or PE30B will not be eligible to earn ¼ credit if absent for more than
one day of the 6 class meeting days.
