In accordance with The Community Energy Efficiency Program (CEEP) Milestone Agreement, The City

Introduction This report has been prepared by Envirolite Pty Ltd and details the results achieved from the recent lighting upgrade

work completed at CCBC Civic Centre 1A Marlborough St, Drummoyne as part of the City of Canada Bay Council

CEEP-Lighting Upgrade Project.

Envirolite Pty Ltd, a one hundred percent Australian Owned Company, is proud to have been selected to provide the

lighting solution for this project. Energy reductions and improvements to the working environment have been achieved

via the installation of E1 light fittings which is an Australian developed world leading lighting innovation.

A summary of the benefits achieved from the installation of the new lighting is as follows:

Direct power usage by the lighting has been reduced from 266.9 amps to 105.9 amps a reduction of 60.3%

(This excludes additional savings achieved from the installation of daylight harvesting and motion sensors and in air

conditioning where it is installed due to a reduction in the lighting heat load).

The number of fittings installed on site has reduced from 879 to 816 fittings (7.17%)

The number of lamps in operation has been reduced from 1369 to 912, a reduction of 50.1%.

The number of ballasts in operation has been reduced from 1354 to 822, a reduction of 64.7%.

Lighting levels have been maintained in accordance with the requirements of Australian Lighting Standards.

Note: During the course of the installation, 23 ballasts containing carcinogenic PCB was found, removed and disposed

of according to NSW OH & S and Workcover Regulations.

Commissioning Notes

Sensor functions have been tailored to suit the client’s needs. There are many factors in an office environment that influence the function of sensors e.g. Wall, carpet and furniture colour, partition height, ambient light and occupancy to name a few. 6.2 Measurement Procedure Measurements are to be in accord with the requirements of AS/NZS 1680.1 Appendix B.

1. Measurements in theory should be taken at night or if this is not possible with blinds drawn (no daylight

component) and in an area empty of all furniture such that the light level at a point is the sum of ALL light sources

in the room with no masking from desk partitions, cabinets, people etc. This is obviously not usually possible so

all care should be taken to ensure we minimise shadowing or shrouding and omit or discount readings that do

not comply with this requirement.

2. Lux readings are not always at a height of 700-720 mm (see table over page).

3. Measurements should not be taken closer than 1000mm from room perimeter.

4. If in a room a low reading is recorded in isolation when all other readings are consistent careful consideration

should be given to the validity of this reading.

5. The accuracy of the light meter should also be considered and routinely checked against a recently calibrated

unit, or if such a unit is not immediately to hand, a number of meters can be checked with the same light source

for consistency.

6. The particulars of the meter should be included in the report i.e. specifications, model, type

7. If practical, new lamps should be burnt in for 100 hours before measurement. It is noted that seasoning of new

lamps allows for the burning off of particulates and the even distribution of mercury within the tube. This

stabilization process ensures optimal lamp performance and in general light measurements taken after aging or

seasoning will be higher than those taken earlier.

There are other influences on the 100 hour burn in which would make this requirement impractical. These include

the interaction of sensors and daylight harvesting; the potential waiting periods, especially at some locations, is

financially unviable; and, adjusting lights to remain on 24 hours per day for the four to five days needed is not

environmentally responsible.

8. The environment in which measurement is to be recorded should be allowed to stabilize, the lamps should be on

for 1 hour prior to measurement and air conditioning / ventilation operating normally. If measurements are taken

at night, this may not be possible and readings will generally be lower than otherwise expected.

7 Recycling Reconciliation The light fittings removed from site have been recycled. The components of the lights fittings are recycled as follows:

- Aluminium & brass: The metal ends from tubes are separated and subsequently recycled into cast products

such as ingots used in foundry application.

- Glass from the tubes is separated and recycled into various glass based applications

- Mercury is distilled from the separated powders and then used in the manufacture of dental amalgam

- Phosphor powder from fluorescent tubes is consolidated for future use in the manufacture of land applications

- Metal is recycled into foundry applications

The following reconciliation is based on the weights of the old individual fitting types replaced and the total weights of

materials recycled by Envirolite’s recycling partners.

8 General Fitting Guidelines 8.1 Handling E1 Light Fittings

All e1 light fittings contain a matte white High Performance e1 Reflector. It is recommended that light cotton

gloves be worn when handling E1 light fittings so as not to mark or damage the reflector and air conditioning

slots.

If using a cutting implement to remove packaging be careful not to scratch or damage the light fitting.

If a blue protective film is present on the High Performance e1 Reflector, this should be removed prior to

installation.

When lifting the fitting, ensure it is properly supported so as not to bend of crease air conditioning slots.

Plug fitting into a designated surface socket.

Remove fluorescent lamp.

With one hand touching the light fitting, peel off remainder of blue film and discard. Note: Failure to touch fitting

when peeling off film will result in the build up of a static charge, which will release when you next earth yourself.

Replace lamp.

8.2 Cleaning E1 Light Fittings

Ensure all fittings and diffusers are clean and free of any contaminates. Wipe with a clean, lint free, cloth if

necessary.

If the High Performance e1 Reflector becomes marked or soiled it should be gently cleaned, using a circular

motion, with a lint free cloth dipped in methylated spirits.

DO NOT use any abrasive or caustic materials on e1 Lighting products.

8.3 Installation of E1 Lighting

Installation of all e1 Lighting products should be carried out by suitably qualified personnel only

Prior to installation electrical safety of the general area should be assessed by suitably qualified personnel.

9 Envirolite Pty Ltd Warranty

The Envirolite Warranty Covers Replacement of:

1. Any component (including the lamps) in the E1 Lighting fittings installed by Envirolite Pty Ltd that fails in the normal course of operation for a period of five (5) years from the date of practical completion.

2. Any component (including the lamps) in LED fittings installed by Envirolite Pty Ltd that fails in the normal course of operation for a period of three (3) years from the date of practical completion.

3. Any component in any sensor installed by Envirolite Pty Ltd that fails in the normal course of operation for a

period of three (3) years from the date of practical completion.

The Warranty Does Not Cover the Replacement of:

1. Any component in the light fittings or sensors installed by Envirolite Pty Ltd that have failed other than in the course of normal operation. This includes but is not limited to failures caused by fire, water damage, earthquakes, power surges, vandalism or other willful or accidental acts that cause damage to the fittings or their components.

2. Failure or damage to any light fitting or sensor component caused by a third party carrying out other works in the building. This includes but is not limited to (a) electrical works that adversely affect the lighting circuits or sensor cables etc and (b) works on the air-conditioning or ceiling grid.

Service calls for the replacement of fitting or sensor components (other than lamps) covered by this warranty will be provided free of cost.

However if the failure of a fitting or sensor component is due to other than normal operation (as covered in Paragraphs 2A and 2B above) then a service call out fee of $100.00 (ex GST) will be charged plus the costs for the supply of replacement components and any associated installation labour. Lamp Failures

A small reserve stock of replacement lamps will be provided to the Building Manager as part of the Scope of Works to allow for the immediate in house replacement of any failures. The Building Manager will be required to keep all failed lamps in the cartons provided and contact Envirolite when 50% of the reserve stock has been used. Envirolite will then replenish the reserve stock to its original numbers and take away the old lamps for recycling. The cost of hire of any man lifting equipment necessary to replace lamps is excluded from this warranty. Failed Sensors and/or Electrical Components in Luminaries.

Envirolite will within a maximum of two (2) workings days following the day of receipt of a service call send one of its service staff to investigate and rectify the failure.

All service calls for replacement of failed components under this warranty should be directed to [email protected]

Introduction This report has been prepared by Envirolite Pty Ltd and details the results achieved from the recent lighting upgrade work

completed at Five Dock Leisure Centre William St, Five Dock as part of the City of Canada Bay Council CEEP-Lighting

Upgrade Project.

Direct power usage by the lighting has been reduced from 95.8 amps to 25.1 amps, a reduction of 69.6%.

4 Fitting Components Apart from reducing energy consumption the installation of e1 fittings also provides a reduction in the number of lamps and ballasts in operation and consequently reduces ongoing lighting maintenance costs. Further cost savings are provided by the extended life cycle of the e1 fitting components.

1. Any component in the light fittings or sensors installed by Envirolite Pty Ltd that have failed other than in the

course of normal operation. This includes but is not limited to failures caused by fire, water damage, earthquakes, power surges, vandalism or other willful or accidental acts that cause damage to the fittings or their components.



However if the failure of a fitting or sensor component is due to other than normal operation (as covered in Paragraphs 2A and 2B above) then a service call out fee of $100.00 (ex GST) will be charged plus the costs for the supply of replacement components and any associated installation labour.

Introduction This report has been prepared by Envirolite Pty Ltd and details the results achieved from the recent lighting upgrade

work completed at CCBC Regatta Rd Depot, Five Dock as part of the City of Canada Bay Council CEEP-Lighting

Upgrade Project.

Direct power usage by the lighting has been reduced from 122.0 amps to 51.4 amps a reduction of 57.9%.



The number of fittings installed on site has reduced from 295 to 292 fittings (-1.02%)




Note: During the course of the installation,1 ballast containing carcinogenic PCB was found, removed and disposed of

according to NSW OH & S and Workcover Regulations.

Commissioning Notes Sensor functions have been tailored to suit the client’s needs. There are many factors in an office environment that influence the function of sensors e.g. Wall, carpet and furniture colour, partition height, ambient light and occupancy to name a few. With these factors in mind the above settings were developed in consultation with the City of Canada Bay Council to provide lighting that is compliant with Australian Standards whilst at the same time providing maximum functionality and energy savings.

4 Fitting Components Apart from reducing energy consumption the installation of e1 fittings also provides a reduction in the number of lamps and ballasts in operation and consequently reduces ongoing lighting maintenance costs. Further cost savings are provided by the extended life cycle of the e1 fitting components.
