This is an 11-month program that prepares graduates for entry into the exciting and challenging field of nursing. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to sit for the National Council of Licensing Examination for Practical Nurs-ing (NCLEX-PN). Students who wish to further their education may take advantage of the articulation agreement with State Fair Community College towards their Associate of Science Degree in Nursing or the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree with Mis-souri Valley College.

Designed to prepare LPN’s to perform limited

IV therapy treatments, this class will use

knowledge, skills and competencies required

to perform IV therapy in accordance with the

Missouri Nursing Practice Act. Course in-

cludes 40 hours of theory and 8 hours of clini-

cal experience. Prerequisites: A copy of a

current LPN license or a copy of a temporary

permit to practice as an LPN in the State of

Missouri. Health & immunization requirements

must be met before clinical experience. Must

have personal liability insurance or $13 extra

to have us purchase insurance for you.

Instructor: Art Madden The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volun-teers about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact our area. CERT teaches basic disaster response skills like fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical opera-tions. The program consists of 20 hours of instruction, and prepares you to help yourself, your family and your neighbors in the event of a disaster. If a disaster does occur, emergency service personnel may be unable to reach everyone imme-diately. Learn how to properly start up/shut down oxy-fuel units, cut and heat metal.

Learn to use a basic metal inert gas (MIG) welder with solid wire and shielding gas to

create quality weld beads on steel up to 1/2" thick. This semi-automatic method of weld-

ing (continuous consumable wire feed), also called GMAW (gas metal arc welding) and

wire feed welding, offers versatility, speed, and quality.

knowledge and skills to do your own

electrical home repairs. This class is

geared toward women, but is open to

anyone who feels the need to learn

more about household electricity.

Topics covered include safety, A/C

circuitry, circuit loads, how light switches & receptacles function, types of

lighting, dimmers, relays, voltmeters and

much more. Class will consist of

classroom and hands-on training.

Spend four sessions learning new painting

tricks and tips. Sessions during week 1 will

focus on a winter landscape. Sessions during

week 2 will focus on a personal still-life, using

your own items. Or, if you are skilled and want

to paint your own composition, that’s great

too! Ms. Resz will offer critique and tips as

you wish. Please bring two canvasses, and

an assortment of basic acrylic paints and

MINI BARN QUILT CLASS

Instructor: Diana Clarke

Using a pre-primed board, you will learn each

step (drafting, taping and painting) to create

your own 3 color mini barn quilt, using the

Missouri Star pattern. The finished project will

be 16” x 16”, the perfect size for mounting on

a small building or porch! The supply fee co-

vers most of the supplies. Bring a yardstick,

pencil, and 3 one cup containers with lids to

hold paint. Bring a hairdryer and extension

cord to dry the paint. Projects will go home

with you between classes.

Walk-in: You may register in person at the Saline County Career Center,

900 West Vest, Marshall, MO between 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.,

Monday – Friday.

Mail in: You may register by mail by completing the registration form and

Make a separate check for each class. Checks will not be cashed until

after the first night of class. Registrations are not complete until fees have

You will be notified by email one week before class start date. We will call to

cancel class due to low enrollment. In case of inclement weather, tune in to

KMMO radio for cancellation announcements. Evening classes will not be in

session if Marshall Public School cancels their daytime programs. Listen

to KMMO for cancellations.
