To strengthen the individuals and organizations of Northeast Georgia to ensure that no need

goes unmet.

Our Mission:

Founded in 1983 to identify gaps in the social service system, Community Connection established the first computer-based resource directory in the country - a directory which has grown to include information on over 2,600 agencies across 12 Northeast Georgia counties.

Over its 30 year history, Community Connection has filled gaps in the social system by incubating some of our area’s strongest nonprofits, including Project Safe, the Athens Area Homeless Shelter, the Athens Justice Project, and many more.

Volunteer Coordination began in 2005, when Community Connection served as the coordinating agency for Athens’ response to Hurricane Katrina. Since then we’ve nourished the “culture of service” in Athens, and have logged over 70,000 volunteer hours performed by literally thousands of volunteers.

In short, Community Connection is sewing the social safety net in our region. For, it is our dual belief that no need should go unmet and that we’ve got all the resources that we need to actually achieve this ideal in our community.
