Mind Map

• Strengths of using this method• Using a mind map helps because it allows the user to forward the ideas they have about the project they

are doing a mind map on.• Mind maps are also good because once made, they allow the user to locate their information easily and

quickly, they also look better than say generating a list.

• Weaknesses of using this method• Weaknesses of making a mind map may include: that it takes a bit of time to create than just scribbling

some ideas on a piece of paper. • Maybe difficult for other people to understand as you, yourself have personalised it so you know what’s

what whilst someone else may be confused.

• Did you like using this method? Why?• I do enjoy creating a mind map as I believe it looks very professional and makes your work look well

organised.• Mind maps also benefit me as I like peoples ideas being brought together and shared. Also mind maps

allow me in particular to remember stuff a lot more in a much shorter time base.

Mood Board

Page 6: Communication methods Evaluation Unit 1

Mood Board

• Strengths of using this method• The strengths of using a mood board is that it can allow you to express your ideas from a visual perspective

instead of writing a one.• They are also very easy to make as long as you have a idea of what you want.

• Weaknesses of using this method• Weaknesses of using a mood board is that sometimes it is quite tricky to gather the images you want.

Another weakness is that mood boards don’t always work for people, people either hate them or love them.• Some people would rather generate a list of ideas rather than create a mood board, some people don’t

really understand them either.

• Did you like using this method? Why?• I have mixed feelings about this method as I’d be more incline to do a list of ideas rather than a board with

images showing my plans with the product but a mood board does give you a good in cite into what things corporate with other things.

Style Sheet

• Strengths of using this method• Strengths of using a style sheet include: Putting different fonts down we can see the possibilities in which

we might like.• We can see what might benefit the audience as its different to visualizing something to actually seeing it

on paper• It also looks allows your work to look organised and gives you a clear idea of what you want, doesn’t take

long to produce whatsoever either.

• Weaknesses of using this method• Weaknesses include: Changing your ideas halfway through and realising that you didn’t actually want the

things you put down.• Adding things that perhaps you wont use.

• Did you like using this method? Why?• I didn’t really enjoy using this method as I believe it may be a waste of time, I would rather have just

cracked on with starting my layout of my project as I believe that the layout and the style sheet are very similar.

Layout Plan

• Strengths of using this method• Strengths of using a layout plan include: Having a good idea of what the final product will look like before

you have made it, so you know if it looks good.• Another strength is that it allows you to make any changes earlier, rather than later, realising in your final

product that you don’t like something you can change it in the layout stage.

• Weaknesses of using this method• Weaknesses of using this method include: That the final design may look completely different to my layout

plan meaning that the design stage was pretty much pointless.• Another weakness Is that a layout plan takes a bit of time to produce, which may put people off as they

may already know what their final result needs to look like.

• Did you like using this method? Why?• I really like using this method as it gives me the chance to change or perhaps rethink ideas that I would

have just gone straight into if not used a layout plan beforehand.

Brainstorm

Page 12: Communication methods Evaluation Unit 1

Brainstorm

• Strengths of using this method• Strengths of using a brainstorm is that you can gather your idea’s as a group and collaborate your idea’s

together.• Another advantage is that you can plan your idea’s before you carry them out which can help in the long

term.

• Weaknesses of using this method• People could disagree with each other about ideas• Another disadvantages is that it is a bit time consuming and a bit of a effort to create than saying speaking

to each other.• Might prefer to do things visual.

• Did you like using this method? Why?• I do like this method as I believe that it brings peoples ideas together and allows people to discuss

improvements/things that look good. Another reason is that you get more minds then say just your mind, more minds more ideas. Another reason is that its good for people to come together, can be used as a ice breaker get to know each other.

Page 13: Communication methods Evaluation Unit 1

Informal Pitch

• Strengths of using this method• The strengths of using a informal pitch is you can get feedback weather its good or controlled criticism

another advantage is that since its informal you can get a more relaxed response and perhaps a more helpful response than say a formal one.

• Weaknesses of using this method• Weaknesses of using this method is that the person who is reviewing the informal pitch could perhaps be

biased and give you a opinion of which you want to hear. • The information you receive you may not agree with and decide that you don’t want to include what

he/she mentioned.

• Did you like using this method? Why?• I do like this method because I believe that it gives you the chance to get good feedback from a outsider’s

perspective, I also like this method because it allows people to gain confidence when faced with this kind of problem, having to speak out against someone that you potentially don’t know that well, prepares you for a real job situation.

Initial Reaction• I am going to make a Adver-game in my Photoshop software to advertise

coca cola in a game. My game will include how coca cola is superior to other drinks on the market, as you will play as a guy with a coke bottle battling people with other branded drinks.

• The aim of the game will be to beat three differant drinks, by beating one you progress through to the next drink and the next. The game does not encourage violence as its drinks your battling with, not weapons.

• I believe the concept that I have come up with me is a great idea and I believe it will work quite well and show how coca cola beats all other branded drinks on the market!

Page 15: Communication methods Evaluation Unit 1

Initial Reaction

• Strengths of using this method• Strengths of using this method include:• Having a good plan before executing the final design and idea.• Evaluating the idea you have allows you to be able to see what you actually want to do which is easier than

keeping it in your head

• Weaknesses of using this method• Weaknesses include:• Not being able to see what your saying in your plan• It may for some people be pointless as they may find some other form of planning more effective.

• Did you like using this method? Why?• I do like this method as it allows me to evaluate what I'm going to do and how I'm going to do it and I like

that type of plan. Another reason I like it is because it allows people to see what I'm going to do in a written organised format whilst say a mind map may be confusing for a person who isn’t me to read and understand.

Sketches

Page 17: Communication methods Evaluation Unit 1

Sketches

• Strengths of using this method• Strengths of using this method: • Being able to see your design there, already planned for Photoshop giving you a indication of what it might

look like.• Gives you a insight into how to draw things on a pixelated set up and see if your idea is possible to be

drawn using pixels.

• Weaknesses of using this method• Weaknesses of using this method:• Your idea may not be possible to draw using pixels therefore prohibiting yourself from using it.• Your finished result may not look like your sketch as it’s harder to draw in a computer software.

• Did you like using this method? Why?• I did enjoy using this method as it allowed me to forward my ideas from my head to paper and produce a

sketch that I look forward to putting in my adver-game. Another reason I like it is because it enables me to see my design/sketch of a character before potentially placing it in, giving me a good organised plan of what is yet to come.

Page 18: Communication methods Evaluation Unit 1

Formal Proposal

• Strengths of using this method• Strengths of using this method include:• You have all the information there in front of you and are able to see what you are doing with your

project.• Another advantage is that you are notifying people about your work and telling them that your work is

copy right protected and that is doesn’t offend any religious groups or cultures.

• Weaknesses of using this method• Weaknesses include:• You already know what your product is going to look like and the answer to the rest of the questions so by

answering them it could potentially waste time as in theory it could be pointless.

• Did you like using this method? Why?• I did like using this method as it allowed me to broadcast what I was calling it and what I was doing with

the product, which has given me a insight into how I want it to look and how its going to be. Although I did dislike this method as I felt that some questions asked were slightly pointless as I was obviously not going to go out purposely offend a ethnic group or religion using a coca cola adver-game.
