Introduction to water cycles program- understand our changing weather and what we can do to make our waterscapes function better for a better climate.
When: September 22, 10-12
(Meeting 1 x a month)
Where: North Charlestown, Methodist Church- Field study locations to be announced
Rain or shine (activities depend on the weather.)
Round and round the water goes as liquid, solid, gas and life-- Exploring the conection and relevance of water cycles in our life. In this first class we will learn about those amazing water engineers, the beavers. Weather permitting, we will hike to a beaver settlement to examine water critters and plants under magnifiers and scopes to discover the water connections. Learning will be enhanced through the use of skits (with Jan’s adorable beaver puppets) and a power point slide show- that will invite feedback.
Jan Lambert, editor of The Valley Green Journal, is also author and editor of a book released just last October—Water, Land and Climate-The Critical Connection, which contains information, some of which may surprise you, about how water supports our earth and the life on it. Her work encourages an understanding of water cycles, and how our help is needed to fix mistakes humans have made in managing water on the planet.
Jan is developing a multi- generational curriculum, using her book as a text, to explore the connection to water in all its forms. She will be seeking feedback and knowledge from participants on how best to do this. She travels with her Rolling Resource Center to provide hands-on, interdisciplinary science for all ages.
This program is hosted at the church as a meeting space and has organizational assistance from

COOPERATIVE * CREATIVE SPACE * TIME SHARE
We have an effeciency apartment for rent on the farm.
$650.00 a month. (Heat, electric and internet included.)
We ae looking for someone who would like to rent the apt. full time. Rent may be reduced in the summer months for help on the farm.
Another option would be several people who would like to cooperatively rent/use the space as an office, meeting space, or guest house. This space would be great for homeschool meeting area, massage/reiki, wrtitting groups, music lessons, crafting, guest house or mini- retreat. Full kitchen and bathroom. With enough interest, perhaps it could be a certified kitchen for food prep/sales. Open to ideas. Please contact me if you are interested ASAP- Becomes available Nov. 1. You will be able to check-out the space on day of FNP.
Homestead for lease in Unity NH (southwest): 7 acres, of which 2 are cleared. Property includes a small, 2-bedroom hand-built house with wood heat, composting toilet, limited gravity-feed well water and electricity. There are two sheds (8x10 and 12x12), two large shared gardens, and several apple trees. The property needs some work: finishing interior in parts of the house and former pasture restoration/re-creation. Space is available for small-scale livestock and vegetable production. No pesticides ever used. Erection of a barn and/or greenhouse would be welcome. Located on a community land trust and available for a year of provisional membership with a long-term lease probable after that. QCLT* seeks a homesteading-minded family interested in putting down roots and developing a sustainable long-term vision for this property.
(*The Quaker City Land Trust was formed in 1994 by the residents of a cooperative ‘back to the land’ neighborhood from the 1960’s. Leaseholders share access to common land and to a community woodworking shop. Sharing resources and skills and trading work are
Family Cow Coop
Raw, grass fed, organically raised milk without the work of keeping the cow!
The cost of purchasing and feeding a cow is prohibitive for one family but very affordable for a few families together!
We are proposing a “Cow Coop” where several families join together to buy a cow and cover the cost of keeping her. Each family will get an equal share of the milk which could be made into butter or cheese as desired. Our family will house the cow and do all milking and related chores including butter or cheese making.
Sound interesting?
