AALOA is a community supported by eight European Projects.Almost one hundred individuals from research organizations and industry subscribed the AALOA Manifesto, which defines the long term mission and vision of AALOA (www.aaloa.org/manifesto)


AALOA Mission

• “Provide a shared open framework for developers, technology and service providers, research

institutions, and end user representatives to discuss, design, develop, evaluate, and standardize a

common service platform in the field of Ambient Assisted Living.”

• Bring together the resources, tools and people involved in AAL in a single forum that makes it much easier to reach conclusions on provisions needed to

achieve AAL progress

IMIA Open Source Software Working Group

- Explore the implications of Free/Libre Open Source Software in Health Care

- Provide a forum for discussion for experts and interested individuals from all stakeholder groups

- Work with other Working and Special Interest Groups to explore the appropriate use of free/libre and open source solutions and applications

- Organize educational activities, workshops, and seminars to disseminate knowledge about FLOSS in health care.

- Act as a hub in a network of FLOSS-networks
