Why CDPSM ? What is it ?
• CIM was used at transmission level since 2000, and the profile was named “Common Power System Model”
• CDPSM was created to insure that Distribution needs were covered
• CDPSM will enable the information exchange between TSO and DSO
CDPSM 3
• Aims to Model Distribution Networks (MV, LV)
• Balanced, Unbalanced
• These Distribution Networkswill be exchanged in global, differential model
• The syntax used is RDF
• Load Flow calculation will be run upon these conforming data sets
• Node/Breaker & Bus/Branch

Use Cases (What has been done?) Use of 62559-2 IEC Use Case Template
Name of Use Case Short description Actors General
remarks
DSO provides its power system
models to TSO
In order to calculate the TSO grid power
flow, the DSO provides to TSO an aggregate
view of its power system model, including
the related states and measurements.
TSO
DSO
A customer provides its DER
plant power system models to
DSO
A DER connection to Distribution grid
request is supported by the description of an
aggregate view of the DER plant power
system model
DSO
DER
Could also be
applied for
“operational
planning” and
“network
operation” ?
DSO1 and DSO2 mutual
exchange their power system
models
DSO1 and DSO2 mutual exchange their
power system models in order to manage
the grid in case of outages on a boundary
feeder
DSO1
DSO2
TSO and DSO provides their
power system models to a third
party
TSO and DSO provides their power system
models to a third party in order to perform an
ex-post analysis of a power quality issue (i.e
Voltage Dips)
TSO
DSO
Authority
DSO/DNO internal information
exchange
A DSO/DNO exchanges various information
or data between different systems within the
company
DSO or
DNO
DNOs provide their power system
models to DSO
In order to perform network planning,
various analyses, outage management, etc.,
of the whole distribution grid, the DSO needs
power system models of the subordinate
DNOs grids.
DSO
DNO
DNOs own and
operate a part
of the whole
distribution grid
for which the
DSO is
responsible of
(Slovenian

Feeder task force status report
• Approx. 5 conference calls until now
• Approx. 10 people actively participating
• First objective is to gather as many use cases and requirements as possible from DNOs/DSOs
• Currently in the process of reviewing different requirements that havebeen expressed by different participants and also possible solutions
• Our aim is not to modify the UML model significantly
• We always have to have backward compatibility in mind

Feeder modelling – some open issues
• What is the start of the feeder (The breaker, the terminal) ?
• Where does the feeder end (with a substation, a sectionalizer) ?
• What are the rules in a meshed network vs a radial network?
• Does it contain equipment ?
• Does it associate with the Bay ?
• What are the rules in a LV network ?
• What are the rules when using the Line class vs the feeder class ?
• Where is the feeder class derived from?
• Does this solution support all our requirements?

Conclusion
This work will support DSO Network Modeling issues• Its goal is to clarify what are :
• DSO requirements• Common TSO/DSO requirements• TSO/DSO information exchange requirements
• Its goal is to get the most of Vendor Tools• Minimization of specificities
• A good standard can’t be defined without good requirements• DSO representatives are welcome to join IEC TC57
• Our aim is to walk the talk…
