Resolved, tha t it is hereby de­clared to be the purpose of the Common Council to cause saia ui-ley, within the limits aforesaid to be s'l'ant d r.nd paved under the

cha r t e r and ordinances of the city of Ann Arbor, and in pursuance of the prayer of said petitioners.

Resolved, further, tha t the cost and expense of the construction of such pub l i ' improvement shall be charged and assessed and paid as follows: Assessed and paid by spe­cial assessment levied and assessed according to benefit on and against all the lands, tenements and pre­mises lying on or fronting alley, within the limits aforesaid
