COMMITTEE CHAIRMANYasin Charles El-Taha, Petroleum Development Oman
Yasin Charles El-Taha is currently the Head of Geophysical Operations in Petroleum Development Oman, after moving from Shell in the Netherlands three years ago. In his previous roles, he has worked in seismic processing for both marine and land projects, with a special focus for the latter on near-surface problems. While in acquisition, he worked on land surveys in North Africa and Siberia involving all aspects of design, planning, execution and safety.

ABSTRACT SUBJECTS • Towed streamer marine seismic acquisition techniques
(including different azimuth, offset, trace density, multiple vessels, etc.)
• Ocean bottom seismic acquisition techniques, nodes and cables (transition zone, shallow and deep water)
• Receiver technology• New acquisition platforms (autonomous robotic vehicles,
submarines, mid-water stationary cables, self-propelled nodes, drifting nodes, etc.)
• Source technology (marine vibrator, impulsive sources etc.)• Non-seismic acquisition (EM, MT, CSEM, potential fields, etc.)• Aspects of survey evaluation and design for marine acquisition
including case histories and modelling• Non-geophysical aspects of marine data acquisition (HSE,
logistics, etc.)• Additional topics including marine broadband / high resolution
seismic, intelligent sampling, surveillance, simultaneous sources, simultaneous operations, etc.
