Academic Appeals Committee

The purpose of the Academic Appeals Committee is to provide a process for a student to appeal a grade or a

grading procedure that affects the student’s academic stand. The committee is charged with the responsibility of

deciding whether the grade assigned in a particular case is justified, and evaluate the instructor’s decision or

recommend an alternative course of action.

Behavioral Intervention Team Committee (CLOSED)

Trinity Valley Community College is concerned about the safety, health, and well-being of all of its students,

faculty, and staff, and has policies regarding the well-being for all members of the college community. The BIT

Team is a resource for TVCC faculty, staff, and students by which they can report student behaviors of concern.

Examples of such instances include; but are not limited to: behavior which appears to be dangerous or threatening

to oneself or others; troubling behavior; angry, hostile, or abusive behavior; or other behavior that is inappropriate

or disruptive. In some cases there may be no violation of the TVCC Student Code of Conduct, but the behavior

may evoke alarm or concern among involved persons.

Council on College Planning (COCP) Committee (CLOSED)

The committee, under the leadership of the President of TVCC and the Director of Strategic Planning,

Effectiveness, & Accreditation, monitors the progress of the strategic plan and accreditation activities. A full-day

retreat is held off-campus at least once a year for discussions and provides an opportunity for mid-upper level

management to discuss major concerns, create a plan for addressing the concerns, and share updates that have

taken place since the last retreat.

The purpose of the Faculty Retreat Planning Committee is to facilitate a sense of camaraderie among faculty

Faculty Retreat Planning Committee are to locate and book the retreat site, determine the menu for the retreat,

Honors Council Committee

The mission of the TVCC Honors Council is to promote and advance the honors program at TVCC. Its

membership includes faculty and staff who strive to make available a program that serves the interests of

academically talented students and are dedicated to the promotion and advancement of an honors education. The

purposes of the honors council are: To advocate the specific interests of the honors program; To address student

Judicial Council Committee (CLOSED)

The Judicial Council convenes on occasions in which the Judicial Officer or designee determines that the student

committed misconduct that warrants a sanction other than suspension or expulsion, and a student appeals the

decision. The VPSS or designee will notify the Judicial Council of the appeal and will provide them all

appropriate documentation needed to meet.

Strategic Planning Committee (CLOSED)

Through the strategic planning process, the Strategic Planning Committee annually reviews the College’s long-

range goals (five-year plan) to guide the planning and budgeting efforts of all administrative and academic areas to

accomplish the mission of the College. The Strategic Planning Committee acts in an advisory capacity on the

institution’s execution of an ongoing, integrated, institution-wide effort to engage in research-based planning

resulting in the enhancement of the College District’s ability to achieve its mission. The Strategic Planning

Committee is specifically charged with: Establishing a mission for the College District that has measurable and

meaningful outcomes so that progress can be monitored; Serving as a liaison with campus stakeholders for the

continuous assessment of the strategic plan; Providing a formal annual evaluation of progress toward the

accomplishment of strategic planning goals; and At least once every four years, conducting a total reworking of

the strategic plan for recommendation to the administration and the Board. As an advisory body, the committee

recommends changes in College District goals and/or priorities.

Title IX/Clery Committee

Together the Title IX Coordinators, Clery Coordinator and Deputy Coordinators comprise the college’s Title

IX/Clery committee. The Committee, or some combination of some members of the Title IX/Clery Committee, is

aware of and investigates all Title IX/Clery complaints raised at the College, evaluates a complainant’s request for

confidentiality, reviews the College’s disciplinary procedures to ensure that procedures comply with the prompt

and equitable requirements of Title IX/Clery, and ensures training is provided to TVCC students and employees as

required by Title IX and the Clery Act.
