About Prime-Line, Inc.

The Prime-Line GoalTo provide the building industry with more products & opportunities in MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) and LDF (Light Density Fiberboard) than any like manufacturer at the lowest possible price. Prime-Line offers a wide variety of LDF doors, LDF mouldings, and exterior shutters, as well as MDF boards in just about any size you can imagine.

The “Prime” in Prime-LinePrime-Line was introduced to the marketplace in 1992 as a water based latex primed product. It was soon discovered that MDF experiences a phenomena called “fiber pop” when water based primers or paints are applied to the raw surface. This “fiber pop” results in a rough surface that is unacceptable to Prime-Line and the consumer.

The SolutionPrime-Line uses an oil based lacquer enamel primer. Prime-Line’s lacquer enamel primer also provides a more durable, paint-able, and sand-able surface than any latex primed MDF product currently on the market. As an option, Prime-Line can and will fortify our oil base primer with our exclusive mold inhibitor, Prime-X. Prime-X stops mold in its tracks and allows you to apply our primed products with the utmost confidence with regard to the mold issue. Note: Mouldings, doors, window stool, boards, shelving, jambs, & risers are all available Prime-X protected.

Introduction

1

Medium DensityFiberboard (MDF)

Introduction to MDFMDF is a composite board made from wood fibers and synthetic resin binders bonded together under high heat and pressure. This manufacturing process creates a board that is flat, smooth, uniform and free of knots and grain, as well as a board that can be easily shaped into almost any form. High quality, clean,

sharp contours and edges can be achieved in a wide range of profiles and designs. This uniform composition allows finish to be applied directly to the surface, creating a smooth seamless appearance.

Prime-Line is a “Green” Manufacturer Prime-Line’s MDF & LDF is manufactured from 94% pre-consumer recycled wood residue, reducing the drain on our forests. Prime-Line has never contained or been manufactured with any Class I or II ozone depleting substance as listed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Prime-

Line meets or exceeds all voluntary limits for urea formaldehyde in fiber board products. Green Certificates are available upon request.

What are Prime Craft Doors?

Prime Craft 1000 interior and exterior doors are LDF doors. We manufacture solid paint grade 1 3/8” and 1 3/4” LDF doors in sizes from 1’0” to 3’0” in width and from 6’8” to 8’0” in height. We also can, and do, make custom sizes for our customers which can range in widths greater than 3’0” and heights that can extend over 8’ but not taller than 10’.

PrimeCraft 1000 exterior doors are manufactured from a special water resistant MDF and then coated with a special protective exterior coating. We make the doors in the same styles and patterns as our interior LDF doors so homeowners, builders, and developers can now match their interior doors with their exterior doors. We also include, as an option, a wood inset in the stile of our doors for customers who simply feel more comfortable inserting hinges into a piece of wood. However, with the use of coarse thread screws, the wood edge is not necessary. As an additional option, we offer to pre-hang doors upon request.

“Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.” - William A. Foster

Advantages of PrimeCraft Doors

PrimeCraft 1000 1 3/4” doors are available with a Warnock Hersey 20, 45, 60, and 90-minute fire label for structures requiring a fire rated door. Prime-Line, as an option, will also machine the doors for hinges, lockset, and deadbolts on request. PrimeCraft doors are also available pre-hung with LDF or pine jambs. PrimeCraft 1000 doors offer excellent sound deadening characteristics:

1 3/8” STC rating-31, 1 3/8” OITC rating-28, 1 3/4” STC rating-33, 1 3/4” OITC rating-30

PrimeCraft LDF doors are all seamless with no stile and rail separation possible. Every door carries a Ltd. Lifetime Warranty. Seamless construction eliminates joint bleedthrough after the final finish coat is applied. This is a major advantage over traditional stile and rail doors.

All PrimeCraft solid LDF doors offer security that simply is not available in a hollow core or traditional stile and rail constructed door. A 1 3/8” x 2’6” x 8’0” door is 160#; obviously, a door this heavy provides the homeowner with a great deal of security against an intruder and will stand up to normal everyday use for a lifetime and we guarantee it!

Hardware

Prime-Line offers, at no charge with each door purchased, a special patented auger action screw that prevents splitting.* The thread design allows for several in & out procedures before screw holding power is compromised. Finish is bright brass only.

Bifold Door Hardware—PrimeCraft suggests Johnson hardware series 111FD. Pocket Door Hardware—PrimeCraft suggests Johnson hardware series 1500.

*When door hinges are applied on the job with any fasteners, it’s mandatory the installer pre-test prior to going into full production. For securing the hinge, one must pre-drill a pilot hole before applying any coarse threaded wood screw. Failure to do so will result in a forfeit of the PrimeCraft warranty.

21

Doors from Prime-Line may be added to any moulding order to complete a truckload.

“Excellence is the unlimited ability to improve the quality of what you have to offer.” -Rick Pitino

Wood Edge

A solid poplar wood edge insert is an option for extra holding power when installing the hardware. Prime-Line advises that a 2” screw be used for all

doors over 125#. Also, all doors with wood edges must be pre-drilled prior to installation. Double wood edges are also offered for all doors.

Left Swing Right Swing

Swing & Bevel Options

A 3° bevel on any door is offered upon request.

Pre-Hung Doors

At your request, any solid LDF or hollow core door can be machined and pre-hung on flat jambs for quick and easy installation. You can have the stop applied and dadoed to your specifications.

Add a 20, 45, 60, & 90 minute positive pressure fire rating to most door styles. All PrimeCraft fire rated doors carry the Warnock Hersey label, North America’s most recognized and respected listing agency for fire rated doors. The mark is placed on the hinge edge of the door.

PRIME-GUARDFIR E R ATED DOORS

Trimming

Trim only the bottom edge. All PrimeCraft doors have a chamfered edge when leaving the factory. Trimming in excess of more than 1” voids the warranty. To re-chamfer door edge use 150 grit sandpaper and sanding block.

Storage

Do not lean a PrimeCraft door against a wall unless it is pre-hung. Doors must be stored flat with a minimum of three supports under a 6’8” door and four supports for 7’ and 8’ doors. This applies to job site or warehouse storage. If a door warps, it usually can be corrected by laying on a flat surface with the bowed side down for 24-48 hours. Warp of 1/4” or less on a 6’8” door and 3/8” or less on a 7’0” and 8’0” door is not considered a defect.
