During Janmashtami Mela at Dwarka following extra coaches were attached between Rajkot – Okha – Rajkot to clear extra passenger rush : 2 GS coaches in train No. 59547/48 (OKHA-VG) on 24/25/26.08.2016.

During Rafaleshwar Mela at Rafaleshwar additional trip of DEMU trains has

been run from 31.08.16 to 01.09.2016 between Wankaner – Morbi –

Train No. 19578/77 (Hapa – Tiruneveli - Hapa) Bi-Weekly Express extended up to Jamnagar w.e.f. 31.03.2017.

b) PASSENGER AMENITY IMPROVEMENTS:

Improvement of platform surface of platform No. 1 & 2 and renovation of

toilet block on platform No. 2 at WKR station.

Renovation of FOB (WKR end) at RJT station.

Upgradation of waiting rooms of Hapa station.

Station Ticket Booking Agent has been appointed at Bhopalka station.

PRS has been commissioned at India Post Main Post Office Rajkot w.e.f.

21.06.2016.

The licensed porters of Rajkot station has been imparted courtesy behavior

training on 27.06.2016.

In a bid to promote cashless transactions, point-of-sale (PoS) machines have been introduced at Rajkot, Jamnagar, Surendranagar, Dwarka and Hapa stations for ticket bookings in the month of December 2016.

Wi-Fi commissioned at Rajkot station.

Face lifting of Jamnagar Station : The MG steam engine No. 2150-YP from

WKR Shed is placed at Jamnagar station premises as Heritage display. It

was inaugurated by Hon’ble MP Jamnagar Smt. Poonam Maadam in

presence of General Manager on 05.01.2017. It has been named

“चतैन्य रथ”.

Water Vending Machines commissioned at Okha, Dwarka, Jamnagar, Hapa, Rajkot, Wankaner and Surendranagar stations.

Three seater steel benches has been provided under MPLAD scheme at Okha, Dwarka, Mithapur, Rajkot, Bhaktinagar, Wankaner, Than and Surendranagar Stations. Total 68 Nos. of three seater steel benches provided.

c) CLEANLINESS (SWACHH RAIL SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN):

Green Corridor (OKHA-KNLS Section): The nominated Green corridor of OKHA-KNLS section is inaugurated on 19.10.16 by Honorable Minister of Rly. Shri Suresh Prabhuji by video conference. Honorable MP. Jamnagar Smt. Poonam Madam was present on the occasion. The Okha – Kanalus section is 141 Km. long. All the rakes running through this section are equipped with bio toilet. There will be no disposal of human waste on track. Total 144 coaches of primary maintained, 209 secondary maintained and 87 coaches platform return trains are equipped with bio-toilets.

Rajkot station ranked 2nd in A-1 Category in the list of top 10 stations in

India and Jamnagar station ranked 4th in ‘A’ Category in the list of top 20 stations in India under ‘Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. These stations ranked based on the survey conducted by Ministry of Railway (Environment and Housekeeping Management Directorate, Railway Board) and Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), who engaged M/s TNS India Pvt. Ltd. for undertaking this work.

Theme based clenaliness drive under “Swachh Bharat Mission 2016-17 has

been organized at all work places like workshop / sheds / depot etc. from

01st to 15th May 2016 and at all offices from 16th to 31st May 2016.

“Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat – Swacchta Saptah” has been organized from

17th September to 25th September 2016. During this Saptah weeklong

events like Intensive cleanliness drives, cleanliness campaign by involving

NGOs / Scouts & Guides / Charitable Institution, checks on toilets and

quality of linen, feedback obtained from passengers, checks on pantry car

and catering units, checks on quality of water, passenger awareness

campaign, anti-littering drives, imposing fines, Nukkad Natak played,

saminar at stations on sanitation and upkeep of Railway stations, Passenger

interaction, Prabhat Pheris and Press conference has been conducted as

per HQ’s and Railway Board directives.

As a part of the ‘Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat Mission’ on 2nd October 2016,

a special cleanliness campaign was undertaken on entire Rajkot Division’s

Railway stations & Railway premises along with various offices & Railway

colonies with great zeal and spirit. Divisional Railway Manager, Rajkot

Division along with other senior Railway officers visited & actively

participated in cleanliness campaign at major Railway stations by taking

Swachhta pledge. Hon’ble Member of Parliament i.e. Shri Devjibhai

Fatehpura & Mrs. Poonamben Madam also participated in the cleanliness

campaign at Surendranagar & Jamnagar respectively. Cleanliness drives has

also been organized at Rajkot by volunteers of BAPS Swaminarayan and at

Bhaktinagar by school students of Modi School.

In order to spread the message of ‘Swachchha Bharat Mission’ and to

motivate the common public for active participation, intensive cleanliness

campaign was conducted at Rajkot station on 05.11.2016 with the help of

renowned Pedestrians (Vishva Padyatri) namely Shri Awadh Bihari Lal, Shri

Jitendra Pratap & Shri Mahendra Pratap participated in a cleanliness drive

conducted in the circulating area of Rajkot station with great enthusiasm.

Massive cleanliness drive was conducted at Rajkot, Jamnagar & Wankaner

station by volunteers of Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation 23.02.2017.

d) IMPROVEMENT IN EARNINGS:

The Ticket Checking shield for the year 2015-16 (First six months) has been

awarded to RJT Division by CCM – CCG.

Ticket checking earning for the month is to the tune of ` 111.00 Lakhs as

against ` 93.06 Lakhs of target and ` 68.18 Lakhs of last year which has

shown an increase by 19.28 % over target and 62.81 % over last year. This

has the ever best ticket checking earning till date and also surpassed the

previous best ever earning of ` 100.58 Lakhs in the month of November

2015. Moreover ticket checking earning of ` 15.60 Lakhs has been

recovered with 2324 cases on 28th October 2016 which is also ever best

ticket checking earning and cases in a single day.

f) GENERAL :

DRUCC meeting was held on 20.04.2016, 09.08.2016 and 08.03.2017.

Freight customers meeting was held on 22.04.2016.

“Rail Hamsafar Saptaah” has been organized from 26th May to 01st June

2016. During this saptaah weeklong events like special drive on cleanliness,

punctuality, catering, ticket checking, passenger interaction, freight

customer interaction and interaction with media has been conducted.

Meeting with House Committee (Lok Sabha) has been conducted by

General Manager at Rajkot on 17.09.2016.

The “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day)” has been celebrated on

31st October, 2016 in which posters have been displayed at stations; pledge

taking ceremony was organized along with “Run for Unity” in Divisional

office by officers and staffs.

Members of the Passenger Services Committee of the Railway Board

carried a detailed inspection of Rajkot Railway Station on 30.11.2016. The

members of the committee included Shri K N Sharma, Shri Nirmal Sinha,

Shri Rakesh Shah, Smt Anju Makhijha & Shri M S Chauhan. During their

inspection, the members spoke with the passengers to understand more

about the facilities required at the station and also took their valuable

feedback. The members expressed satisfaction with the overall facilities

and cleanliness at the station and highly appreciated the ‘Heritage Gallery’

and beautiful art work done on foot over bridge at Rajkot station by

volunteers of ‘Chitranagari’.
