MASHOOQUE AHMAD DIVISIONAL COMMERCIAL MANAGER

Bhavnagar Division has been in the forefront of adopting innovative ideas, techniques and processes in delivering quality service with a single motto of enhancing passenger satisfaction. For us “Serving customer with a smile” is not a mere cliche but an ultimate goal in itself. This Division serves Bhavnagar, Amreli, Botad, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Ahmedabad, Surendranagar and Devbhumi Dwarka districts of Gujarat State.

The total number of stations opened for passenger traffic over Bhavnagar Division is 141. Bhavnagar Terminus and Veraval stations come under “A” category. Junagadh, Porbandar, Botad and Gondal stations are categorised as ‘B’ class stations.

The total Earnings of Bhavnagar Division have been showing a increasing trend. Bhavnagar Terminus, Veraval, Junagadh, Porbandar, Botad, Gondal, Gandhigram and Somnath are important stations on this Division.

Gross Earnings:

� The Gross Earnings had shown a increasing trend during the period 2010-11 to 2014-15 from Rs.415.74 Crores to Rs. 1137.15 Crores which is an increase of 173.6% in a period of five years.

� A major component of gross earnings comes from Goods Earnings which have increased from Rs.337.26 Crores in 2010-11 to Rs.990.33 Crores during 2014-15 which is an increase of 193.7% in the last five years.

Passengers: The number of passengers using rail transport have increased as under in the last five years from 31.98 million to 36.97 million which is an increase of 15.6%. However during 2014-15, number of passengers have slightly fallen short by 0.6% as compared to corresponding period of previous year.

On an average a total number of 9 express and 35 passenger trains are being run every day.

Passenger earnings account for 11.6% of the total earnings of the Division. An Upward trend in passenger earnings has been maintained with an impressive growth of 17.2% in the 2014-15 i.e., Rs.132.27 crores as against Rs.112.82 Crores in the 2013-14.

Goods:

Steam Coal, Fertilizers, Container, Cement, Soda ash, Salt, Organic Manure, Onion, De oiled cake are the main outward commodities loaded on this Division. There are three private sidings in Division, of which Pipiavav Port Siding on PRCL (joint venture with Railway and M/s.GPPL under SPV project) is the major loading terminal contributing 90.88% (Rs.900.17 Crores) share in goods earnings.

A total of 3559 rakes except Railway material were loaded in the year 2014-15 as against 3353 rakes loaded during 2013-14. Freight Incentive scheme for Incremental Traffic is being availed by M/s. CTA logistics and M/s. Saurashtra Chemicals Ltd. for soda ash loading from Porbandar and SCPS siding, M/s. GHCL for soda ash loading from Adri Road, M/s. Nirma Ltd. for Soda Ash and Refined Iodised Salt from Bhavnagar Timber Depot and M/s. Ultra Tech Cement Ltd. for cement loading from Pipavav station. Goods earnings registered Rs. 990.33 crores in 2014-15 as compared to Rs.724.88 crores registered during corresponding period of previous year. Computerisation:

Unreserved tickets are available through UTS at 53 stations and reserved tickets through UTS cum PRS at 42 and PRS at 14 stations. Provision of UTS cum PRS facility has greatly reduced crowding at major stations and resulted in quick disposal of tickets in both reserved and unreserved segments which has proved to be a timely service for customers.

Ticket Checking Performance:

Intensive and sustained ticket checking drives over the Division have realised Rs.188.21 lakhs in 2014-15 - up by 21.65% over previous year. Commercial Publicity: The commercial publicity earnings is Rs.252.09 lakhs in the year 2014-15 - up by 75.9% over previous year.

The Division has introduced a number of measures towards better passenger amenities in recent times. The following are some of the initiatives in this regard :-

1. LED Station Name Board provided at Bhavnagar Terminus, Botad, Dhola, Porbandar, Somnath, Junagadh etc. important stations of Bhavnagar Division.

2. Train Arrival/ Departure LCD Boards & Coach Guidance System are provided at Bhavnagar Terminus, Junagadh, Veraval, Porbandar, Botad etc. stations.

3. Upgraded Waiting Hall: To facilitate the public, the waiting hall at Bhavnagar Terminus, Junagadh, Veraval, Porbandar, Botad, Gondal, Keshod, Dhola, Gandhigram stations has been renovated with all modern amenities.

4. Dual Display Infotainment System. Dual Display Infotainment Systems (fare repeaters) have been provided across PRS & UTS unified locations at Bhavnagar Terminus and Gandhigram station. This facility is passenger friendly.

5. Passenger Operated Enquiry Terminals (POET): POETs have been provided at Bhavnagar Terminus and Gandhigram station for the better guidance of passengers.

6. Model station/ Modern Stations/ Adarsh stations: There are five Model stations viz. Bhavnagar Terminus, Veraval, Junagadh, Porbandar and Gandhigram, Eight Modern stations viz. Botad, Dhola, Gondal, Keshod, Sihor, Songadh, Mahuva and Jetalsar and four Adarsh stations over the Division viz. Una, Gandhigram, Bhanvad and Lalpur Jam where improved passenger amenities have been provided.

7. ATM facility: This facility is available at 4 stations over Bhavnagar Division viz. Gandhigram, Vastrapur, Veraval and Bhavnagar Terminus.

8. Information & Facilitation Enquiry Centre: The information and facilitation Enquiry centre is provided at Bhavnagar Terminus, Gandhigram, Veraval, Junagadh, Porbandar etc. station to keep public informed of the latest information.

9. Passenger luggage Trollies : Airport type Passenger luggage trollies have been made available for the public at eleven stations viz. Bhavnagar Terminus, Junagadh, veraval, Porbandar, Somnath, Botad, Keshod, Songadh, Gandhigram, Savarkundla, and Virpur. This has been welcomed by the passengers.

10. Freight Operation Information System (FOIS): All the freight handling stations over Bhavnagar Division are computerised. FOIS is in operation at 08 freight handling stations over Bhavnagar Division viz. Pipavav Port Siding, Pipavav Station, Bhavnagar Timber Depot, Saurashtra Cement Ltd. Siding – Ranavav, Porbandar, Junagadh, Adri Road, and Control office-Bhavnagar Para. Other non device locations are connected to the Devise locations for issue of computerised RRs.

Highlights of Commercial branch.

• Earning performance :

• Division has achieved annual target of Gross earnings for 2014-15. Gross earnings during the year 2014-15 was

Rs.1137.15 Cr. i.e. increase by 33.5% as against Rs. 852.06 Cr. during the year 2013-14. This is 0.06% more than

annual target of Rs. 1136.46 Cr.

• Division has achieved annual target of Goods earnings for 2014-15. Goods earning during the year 2014-15 was

Rs.990.33 Cr. i.e. increase by 36.6% as against Rs. 724.88 Cr. during the year 2013-14. This is 0.7% more than

annual target of Rs. 983.38 Cr.

• Division has achieved annual target of commercial Publicity earnings for 2014-15. Commercial Publicity earning

during the year 2014-15 was Rs.250.09 Lakh i.e. increase by 74.5% as against Rs. 143.32 Lakh during the year

2013-14. This is 0.04% more than annual target of Rs. 250.00 Lakh.

• Anti-Touting measures:

1. Web based surveillance system at GG, BVC & VRL PRSs have been commissioned.

2. Mobile Jammer system have been installed at BVC and GG PRSs.

3. Biometric Identification and Token system implemented at GG PRS w.e.f. 06.9.2013.

• Catering Monitoring Cell:

Separate Catering monitoring cell has been set up at Divisional control office. Details are as under.

“All India Passenger Helpline No. 138” and Web based Complaint and Suggestion Management System

has been introduced w.e.f. 26.02.2015 in Commercial Control, DRM office.

• Cleanliness :

1. Safai working rules have been formulated for 20 major stations of the division i.e. all A, B and D

category stations and all concerned have been instructed to follow the same rigidly.

2. Contract of outsourcing of station cleanliness with mechanised cleaning gadgets at Veraval station has

been awarded and tender process for Somnath station is under progress.

3. Contracts have been awarded for supply, maintenance and operations of machines of mechanized

cleaning at Bhavnagar Terminus, Junagadh, Porbandar, Botad, Gondal and Gandhigram stations.

4. Adequate quantity of consumable items and cleaning equipment i.e. brooms, gum boot, dustbins,

naphthalene balls, phenyl, gammexane powder, bleaching powder etc. are being provided at all

stations so that cleaning work is carried out smoothly.

5. Cash imprest for Safai work and petty repairs has been provided at all A, B, D, E and F (where

staff/Clerk in charge is posted) category stations.

6. Extra dustbins with polythene have been provided at all stations for effective collection of garbage.
