Support Scheme for Renewable Heat (SSRH)In 2019, we expect to see significant changes in
the way that business owners choose to heat
their businesses following the introduction of the
Support Scheme for Renewable Heat, or SSRH.
The SSRH is a financial incentive to encourage business owners to move away from fossil fuels, to more sustainable heating. Business owners will be paid a set tariff every year, for 15 years, based on the amount of heat generated – allowing you to make huge savings on heating bills for your farm or business.
Woodco is an Irish manufacturer and supplier of biomass boiler systems. With over 50 years’ industry expertise, we have supplied almost 4,000 boilers worldwide.
Using world-class technology by industry-leading fabricators, all our boilers are made to the highest EU standards. With technical support from our Irish-based biomass experts, you can trust our team to deliver outstanding service every step of the way.

Using Biomass Heating in the Poultry SectorThere are proven advantages to using renewable
heating in the agribusiness sector.
Aside from making significant savings on their heating bills, poultry farmers have also seen many non-financial benefits in switching to biomass heating.
check Drier litter, improving bird feet and reduced bedding costscheck Less CO2 compared to direct fired gas heaterscheck Density – birds spread more evenly over the floorcheck Reduced heating costs – biomass is significantly cheaper than oil or gas. SSRH will enhance savings even further
Case StudyIn 2015, Woodco completed one of the largest biomass projects under the RHI scheme in the UK. Having won a tender to supply boilers to a fully-funded Energy Supply Contract (ESCO) biomass heating systems for one of the UK’s largest poultry producers, we supplied 60 no. EcoCabins to four Moy Park farms in Lincolnshire.
Client Moy Park Location Lincolnshire Equipment 199kW Woodco EcoCabin Average Shed Size 1,355m3
The ESCO Provider Funds the equipment, installation, maintenance and fuel supply for the system
In return, the ESCO provider receives quarterly RHI payments (based on kWh produced) from the UK Government. Similar to SSRH, the RHI is an indexed-linked programme, where biomass equipment owners receive payments over 20 years. In Ireland, payments will be made quarterly over 15 years
The Client Benefits from guaranteed lower heating costs compared to LPG and has no capital outlay
As part of the contract, the client guarantees a minimum of 250,000kWh per shed, p.a.
