in her Anthropology senior experience, “Reels, Apps, YouTube: Changing Performance Practices of Irish Session Music.” She had the honor of presenting on this topic at the Harrison Symposium and MIDSEM Conference. Ever active in her educational pursuits, she is a regular attendee at the McGuinness Irish music session. She hopes to continue this research through graduate school and many return trips to Ireland.

Concerto Competition. Last summer, she studied with Patricia McCarty at the Meadowmount School of Music. In the fall of 2014, she will return to Vienna, Austria, where she studied abroad during her junior year at Lawrence, to teach English and research Austrian folk music on a Fulbright scholarship. TraumTrio has been an important part of her development as a violist, and she cannot thank Amber and Thomas enough for the wonderful experience of playing together!

Alexander York is a student of Steven Paul Spears from Muskego, WI. He has been seen in many productions at Lawrence during his time here, including Into the Woods (Cinderella’s Prince), The Fairy Queen (Hymen), The Light in the Piazza (Fabrizio), The Drowsy Chaperone (Robert Martin), Albert Herring (Sid), and, most recently, Street Scene (Harry Easter). Last summer, he covered Maximillian in Candide at the Aspen Summer Music Festival, and the previous summer was spent attending the Oberlin in Italy program as Lawrence’s Conservatory2 Scholarship winner. He was also chosen to introduce writer Alex Ross on Lawrence’s convocation series. Alex will be singing the role of Belcore this summer at the La Musica Lirica program in Novefeltria, Italy before moving on to pursue his Master of Music at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music in the fall.

Kelson Zbichorski, is a native of Milwaukee, WI graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in music with a minor in Spanish. He studies percussion in the studio of Dane Richeson. In his time at Lawrence he has participated in a variety of musical groups including LUJE, jazz combos, percussion ensembles, Symphonic Band, Balinese Gamelan, and a few student-run bands. The Balinese Gamelan ensemble run by I Dewa Ketut Alit Adnyana captured his attention the most. He received a Senior Experience grant to study this music in Bali, Indonesia in the summer of 2013 and performed some of it on his recital. After graduation he plans to move to Chicago, IL.

Katrina Zosseder, a native of the San Francisco Bay Area, has enjoyed the past five years as a Wisconsinite. As a participant in the double-degree program, Katrina will graduate Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Kappa Lambda with majors in vocal performance and anthropology. A member of the studios of Karen Leigh-Post and Samantha George, she has pursued her love of violin alongside her vocal degree through lessons and many ensembles. She recently completed a fifth-year recital in which she focused on early and new vocal repertoire. Through generous funding from the Lawrence Mellon Grant, she recently had the opportunity to conduct pilot research in Ireland focused on traditional music, which culminated

Tristan Tucker is a senior instrumental music education major from Petersburg, Illinois. At Lawrence, he has studied saxophone with Steven Jordheim, José Encarnación, and Sara Kind. He will be returning to the Appleton area in the fall to complete his education degree requirements by student teaching at Greenville Middle School. After that he hopes to teach at the Middle and High School level.

Michael Uselmann is a music theory/composition major from the studio of Joanne Metcalf. Michael is the recipient of the Pi Kappa Lambda composition award, and this spring, the Lawrence Symphony Orchestra performed excerpts from his new musical If There Were Anyone. Michael has also studied voice privately for four years in the studio of Joanne Bozeman and has performed in several Lawrence productions including: Trouble in Tahiti and Street Scene. Michael has spent the past three summers music directing regional theatre professionally and this summer he will be music directing at Timber Lake Playhouse in Mount Carroll, IL. In the fall, he will be moving to New York to earn his Master’s in musical theatre writing at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Michael thanks his professors, friends, and family for their constant inspiration and support.

Amber Verser, a native of Loveland, Colorado, is a fifth-year graduating with a Bachelor of Music in performance and a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and German. While at Lawrence, she has studied oboe with Howard Niblock. She has served as the principal of all three large instrumental ensembles at Lawrence, and has played for the opera and the choirs several times. She presented her musicological research about Berg’s Wozzeck at two conferences this past year. In her spare musical time, she enjoys playing with TraumTrio (her viola, oboe, and piano trio), her woodwind quintet, and her two oboe trios. Last year, she received a Mellon Grant to research at the Hindemith Institute in Frankfurt, Germany over the summer, and can’t wait to go back to Europe. So next year, she will be moving to London to pursue a Master of Music in oboe performance at the Royal College of Music.

Abigail Wagner, a native of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, graduated from Lawrence in January 2014 with a Bachelor of Music in viola performance and instrumental/general music education. She studied viola with Matthew Michelic at Lawrence. In the past year, she has performed with the Fox Valley, Green Bay, and Oshkosh Symphony Orchestras. She teaches violin and viola lessons in her own Appleton studio and with the Door County String Academy in Sturgeon Bay. She won the 2013 WiASTA Solo Competition and was a finalist in the 2012 Lawrence Symphony Orchestra

BIOS

Andrew Breuninger started his career as a treble when he was eight years old in Christ Church Cathedral’s Choir of Men and Boys, Indianapolis. He served two years as head chorister, was a soloist with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, performed on two European tours, and was a frequent soloist in the Cathedral’s Church Music Concert Series. Andrew studied under Joanne Bozeman at Lawrence University, and had the honor of participating in four operas, most notably as Mr. Gedge in Britten’s Albert Herring, and Mr. Olsen in Kurt Weill’s Street Scene. He received the 2013 Conservatory2 Scholarship at Lawrence to participate in Oberlin in Italy as a cover in Mozart’s Così fan tutte as well as participated in their emerging artist opera scenes program. He was a choral scholar at All Saints Church, Appleton for four years. In addition, Andrew was a finalist in Lawrence University’s 2014 Concerto Competition singing Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Songs of Travel. Following his Bachelor of Music in vocal performance at Lawrence, he will enroll at Michigan State University for a Master of Music with a teaching assistantship studying under Professor Richard Fracker. He will debut as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte with Michigan State Opera Theatre this fall.

Anthony Capparelli, a native of River Falls, WI, is a candidate for the Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance. During his time at Lawrence, he has enjoyed working on many collaborative projects, notably performing Schubert’s Die Schöne Müllerin with Ian Koziara. Starting on July 1st, Tony will embark on a Watson Fellowship, leaving the United States for a year to study Celtic and Scandinavian folk music and folklore in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Iceland. Following the fellowship, Tony will continue his piano studies in pursuit of his DMA in piano performance. He would like to thank his teacher Catherine Kautsky for her wisdom in teaching and her guidance these past four years.

Maire Clement has been determined to be a “singer and actress” since the second grade. A student of Steven Paul Spears, she has been seen on the Lawrence stage most recently as Greta Fiorentino in Kurt Weill’s Street Scene. She also performed as Emmie in Albert Herring, Little Edie in Grey Gardens and Clara in The Light in the Piazza. A recipient of the Conservatory2 Scholarship, she spent last summer in Italy where she was the cover of Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte. As a graduating senior, she is incredibly excited to continue her studies with a Master of Music in voice performance at the University of Louisville where she has been offered a graduate teaching assistant position in the fall.

She has been a finalist of the LSO Concerto Competition for the past two years, giving her the opportunity to share the stage with some of the finest musicians at Lawrence. She spent last summer on Cape Cod as part of the pit orchestra of the College Light Opera Company. As part of a brass quintet, Elizabeth traveled to Chicago in the spring of 2014 to perform as part of Kaleidoscope: A Spectrum of Music. Most recently, Elizabeth performed the Glière Horn Concerto in B-flat Major, op. 91 with the Lawrence Wind Ensemble as the 2014 LUWE Concerto Competition Winner. Elizabeth will continue her studies next year at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where she will study with Randall Gardner while pursuing her Master’s in horn performance.

Genevieve Schooler, a native of Olympia, Washington, is a candidate for the Bachelor of Music degree in instrumental music education. She will complete her training next fall, student teaching with Brian Cole in Moorhead, MN. Her focus for teacher training will be beginning string orchestra in grades 5-8. While at Lawrence, Genevieve has studied cello under the guidance of Janet Anthony, and has been a member of the Lawrence Symphony Orchestra as well as a member of the Viking Chorale. Genevieve served as cello soloist with the Viking Chorale providing one of her most memorable experiences at Lawrence. She has also been an active member of Delta Gamma Fraternity holding leadership positions in finance and member education.

Jonathan Stombres, a native of St. Charles, IL, is a candidate for a Bachelor of Music degree with double majors in voice performance and music education. He will student teach in Appleton and Chilton in the 2014-2015 year. A tenor, Jonathan is in the studio of Kenneth Bozeman. Jonathan has been a member of Concert Choir for all four of his years, serving as section leader this past year. This year he also regulated the Lawrence University Student Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association, a newly reopened chapter, aiding in the coordination of attending the NC-ACDA Conference as well as doing outreach to local schools’ choral programs. Additionally, he worked as a Head Residence Life Advisor for two years in Sage and Plantz Halls. Jonathan performed a variety of roles in multiple musicals and operas while at Lawrence including The Bartered Bride, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Fairy Queen, The Drowsy Chaperone, Albert Herring, and Street Scene. He also performed as a member of the vocal company at the College Light Opera Company in Falmouth, Massachusetts during the summers of 2012 and 2013. A special thanks goes out to his immensely supportive family.

Emily Crowe is from Glen Ellyn, Illinois and is a candidate for a Bachelor of Music in choral/general music education. Emily is a mezzo-soprano from the studio of Karen Leigh-Post. She started off her Lawrence career as a freshman in Into the Woods as Cinderella’s mother and was recently seen in the 2014 opera production Street Scene as Olga Olsen and has been in the opera scenes program for two years. Emily has been an active member in both Cantala and Concert Choir, and was a member of the ensembles that performed in both 2011 and 2014 ACDA conventions. Along with her vocal study, Emily worked for three years with the Lawrence Academy of Music Girl Choir program, as a manager for the Cantabile ensemble, grades 7-10, under the mentorship of Debbie Lind. She spent December of 2013 traveling with three other music education students to Sierra Leone, in West Africa, where they taught general music at several schools around the country. Along with her teaching, Emily conducted a research project, surveying cultural songs from the regions of Sierra Leone, and transcribing and arranging them to format a songbook. She displayed her senior experience project at her senior recital with the participation of the Cantabile Girl Choir. This fall, Emily will be moving to Qatar for one semester, where she will be working as a fine arts intern at the American School of Doha. Following the internship, she will complete student teaching in Appleton before moving to Phoenix, AZ to teach special education through Teach for America.

Max Feldkamp is a 5th-year double-degree student majoring in piano performance and mathematics with an emphasis in piano pedagogy. He will be beginning his Master of Music degree in piano performance and pedagogy at University of Colorado at Boulder in the fall. He has been playing piano for seventeen years, and is an alumnus of the Lawrence Academy of Music and the Young Performer program, in addition to Professor Anthony Padilla’s studio. In his time at Lawrence University, he has been recognized in many regional competitions including the Schubert Club Competition and MTNA. In addition to his academics and piano, Max was a theory tutor and aural skills teaching assistant at Lawrence, and he student taught piano at the Academy. He has also worked during the summer as a piano teaching assistant at Interlochen. Outside of music, Max Feldkamp has interests in audio recording, programming and computer science.

Natasha Lynn Foley, hailing from Anoka, MN, has studied with Kenneth Bozeman throughout her time at Lawrence University, where she is a candidate for a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance. At Lawrence, she has had numerous solo opportunities, including appearances in area recitals, master classes, choral concerts, opera scenes, and as a chosen

has also had the opportunity to perform with several of Lawrence’s faculty members, including José Encarnación, Michael Mizrahi, Anthony Padilla, Steve Peplin, and Dane Richeson. As a co-winner of the 2013 Wisconsin Public Radio’s Neale-Silva Young Artists’ Competition, Greg performed in a recital broadcast with saxophonist Joe Connor live on Wisconsin Public Radio. In the spring of 2013, professor Richeson granted Greg the opportunity to play Afro-Cuban percussion with Michael Spiro on his new album, Maxim Confit. Greg has performed with various Lawrence groups including the Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo 1, Symphony Orchestra, African, Brazilian, Cuban, and Western percussion ensembles. His primary teachers have included Dane Richeson, Tom Ross, and David Henzie-Skogen. He recently accepted a scholarship to pursue a Master’s degree in percussion performance at Rutgers University under the tutelage of Joe Tompkins, Mike Truesdell ’07, and Kyle Zerna.

Cayla Rosché is in the studio of Kenneth Bozeman and will be graduating with a double major in voice performance and choral/general music education. She was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and will be moving to Oak Creek, Wisconsin for her first year of teaching Middle School Choir. While at Lawrence she has performed in numerous operas, opera scenes, and musical ensembles. She also spent a summer singing with the Oberlin in Italy program in Arezzo, Italy where she had the opportunity to study with Delores Ziegler, from Maryland University, and other world class coaches and teachers. Her roles have included The Foreign Woman in The Consul, Lady Billows in Albert Herring, and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni. She performed with Cantala at the National ACDA convention in 2011 and then began singing with Concert Choir. Her five years at Lawrence have been full of experiences in both teaching and performing, and she thanks the wonderful staff at the Conservatory and College for all their support.

Elizabeth Schmidt, originally from Red Hook, New York, is graduating with a Bachelor of Music in horn performance. Elizabeth found her passion for orchestral playing while attending the NYSSSA Summer School of the Arts, School of Orchestral Studies in Saratoga Springs, NY in 2009, and has since been driven to make this part of her professional future. At Lawrence, she has been a member of the horn sections of the Lawrence Symphony Orchestra, Lawrence Chamber Orchestra, Opera Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble, as well as a member of the Concert Choir and Cantala Women’s Choir. In addition to large ensembles, she has given two solo recitals and played in many wonderful chamber groups. Elizabeth has had the privilege of studying with James DeCorsey while at Lawrence, as well as participating in master classes and seminars

soloist at the 2014 Scholarship Luncheon. Her most recent performances include the role of Anna Maurrant in Kurt Weill’s opera, Street Scene, and her senior recital in which she sang a wide range of repertoire, from French composer Maurice Ravel, to composers such as Puccini, Schoenberg and Turina. In the fall of 2012 she furthered her studies in classical repertoire through IES Abroad in Vienna, Austria, where she studied with instructors from the Konservatorium Wien. She was named to the Dean’s List for the 2013-14 school year. While at Lawrence Natasha held leadership positions within campus organizations such as Kappa Kappa Gamma, the National Panhellenic Organization, Sigma Alpha Iota, and Relay for Life. Natasha was involved with the Lawrence Fund in the Student Ambassador Program as well as holds the senior class officer position of Agent. Within the Conservatory she served as Director and Treasurer to the all-female a cappella group, Conchordance, and was a member of both Cantala and Concert Choir. After graduating she will be spending the summer performing for Mill City Summer Opera in the chorus of Puccini’s Tosca. She will be attending University of Louisville starting in the fall of 2014 as an Opera Fellow with a Graduate Teaching Assistantship, studying under professor Edith Tidwell.

Jonathan Gmeinder of Hartland, Wisconsin is graduating with a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance with a minor in biology. He has had the pleasure of studying piano with Cathy Kautsky during his time at Lawrence. Jonathan has spent the past two summers abroad, studying solo piano in Spain in 2013, and Italian Opera in Italy in 2012. Jonathan has also been to the Green Lake Chamber Music Festival several times, participating as both a student and counselor. He has participated in private lessons and master classes with renowned pedagogues and performers from across the nation including Dale Duesing, Danielle Orlando, Robert McDonald, Jim Howsmon, and Gilbert Kalish. Next fall Jonathan will attend the Manhattan School of Music in pursuit of a Master of Music degree in vocal accompanying under the tutelage of Warren Jones. He has had an amazing time performing over and over again with his friends for the past five years, and will miss them all dearly.

Ryan Hays, a native of Des Moines, Iowa, is a candidate for the Bachelor of Music degree in double bass performance. At Lawrence, he studied bass with Mark Urness, and also studied with jazz pianist Bill Carrothers. In the fall of 2012, he spent five months at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam studying jazz and classical music with Dutch bassists Frans van der Hoeven and Ernst Glerum. Ryan has served the past four years as a member of the Lawrence Symphony Orchestra, the Lawrence University Jazz Band and Jazz Ensemble, and played in several jazz and classical chamber groups. He

Lauren Pulcipher, a native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, is a candidate for the Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance. During her time at Lawrence she has served as co-concertmistress of the Lawrence Symphony Orchestra, Lawrence Chamber Orchestra, and Lawrence Opera Orchestra, has participated in multiple chamber ensembles, given two recitals, and was a finalist in the 2012 LSO concerto competition where she performed Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major. During the summer of 2012, Lauren attended the Castleman Quartet Program in Boulder, Colorado where she learned and performed Bartok’s Quartet No. 3 and Brahms’ Violin Sonata No. 2 in A Major. This past summer, Lauren was the concertmistress of the College Light Opera Company orchestra in Falmouth, Massachusetts. She also spent spring term of her junior year at the Lawrence University London Centre where she studied with London Symphony violinist Louise Shackelton. Next fall, Lauren will begin a Master of Music degree in violin performance at the University of Michigan, where she will study with Aaron Berofsky. She has had the privilege of studying with Samantha George while at Lawrence.

Zoie Reams, a student of John T. Gates, is a senior voice performance major at Lawrence University. She has performed with the apprentice programs of Minnesota Opera and Chicago Lyric Opera. For the last four years, she has been honored as one of Wisconsin’s finest young singers at the Auditions of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Her sophomore year, Zoie performed Leonard Bernstein’s mezzo-soprano solo in Jeremiah with a full symphony orchestra. Zoie has performed roles in Lawrence University’s productions of Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring as well as Kurt Weill’s Street Scene. She has participated in Oberlin in Italy and La Musica Lirica’s summer intensive opera programs in Italy. In these programs she has performed the roles of Cenerentola in Rossini’s Cenerentola, Marcellina in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and this summer she will be performing the lead role of Doralba in Cimarosa’s L’impresario in angustie. Zoie will continue her music education at Louisiana State University in the fall for her Master of Music degree.

Gregory Riss is a percussionist who enjoys making friends through music. A candidate for the Bachelor of Music in performance from the studio of Dane Maxim Richeson, Greg has recently shared the stage with Alan Ferber, Nancy Zeltsman, and J.P. Jofre. During his study at Lawrence, Greg

has also been fortunate enough to spend his last year at Lawrence studying composition and arranging with Fred Sturm. Ryan has accepted an internship at the New York Jazz Academy in Manhattan, and plans to move to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area after the summer to continue building his career as a musician.

Daniel Kuzuhara is a graduating senior from Madison, Wisconsin pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance at Lawrence University. Daniel has student taught at the Lawrence University Academy of Music. This fall, Daniel plans to attend the Indiana University at Bloomington where he will pursue a Master of Music in piano performance at the Jacobs School of Music. He hopes to explore other aspects of his interest in music in areas such as music composition, pedagogy, and conducting as well as continue his training in Tae Kwon Do, in which he recently earned his second-degree black belt. Daniel would like to give special thanks to his family, especially his sister, Carolyn, who has supported his passion for music throughout his life, his previous Madison Area Piano Teachers Association (MAPTA) teachers, Karen Hill and Julie Chang, and his current professor, Anthony Padilla, who has given unconditional support and countless hours of lessons during the last four years.

Thomas J. Lee, from the studio of Anthony Padilla, is earning a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance with an emphasis in pedagogy. He is the winner of the 2012 Wisconsin Badger Collegiate Competition, and the second-place winner of the 2013 MTNA Young Artist State Competition. Thomas is proud to be performing tonight with TraumTrio, an oboe-viola-piano trio that has been playing together since 2011. He is tremendously thankful to his trio-mates, Abby Wagner and Amber Verser, and his trio coach, Professor Niblock, for three years of fulfilling music-making and collaboration. This summer, Thomas will be continuing his internship at the Mile of Music Festival in Downtown Appleton while preparing for his senior recital in the fall. This previous summer he attended College Light Opera Company’s summer stock program, acting, singing, and dancing in nine shows throughout the season. The following winter he helped to form the Greyfell Theatre Company. In his time at Lawrence he’s been featured in various shows, including Kurt Weill’s Street Scene, The Sweetest Swing In Baseball, The Plough and The Stars, The Fairy Queen, Pirandello’s Henry IV, and various sets of opera scenes and sets of one-act plays. After graduating, he will intern at Door County’s Third Avenue Playhouse and start to audition for professional roles and graduate schools during a gap year. Valerie Neff hails from Prospect Heights, Illinois, and is graduating with a Bachelor of Music degree in music performance and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. Over the course of her five years at Lawrence, she has played B-flat and bass clarinets in the Lawrence University Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Symphonic Band. She has also been involved with the Lawrence University Balinese Gamelan ensemble, Gamelan Cahaya Asri. After graduation, Val will be staying in the Appleton area, where she will be working with individuals with disabilities as a Direct Support Provider for Clarity Care. In the future, she hopes to attend graduate school for Counseling Psychology. She would like to thank her musical mentors: David Bell, I Dewa Ketut Alit Adnyana, Andrew Mast, David Becker, and Octavio Más-Arocas, as well as countless wonderful and inspiring non-ensemble professors. A devotee of art song, she hosts ArtSongUnderground, a weekly radio show devoted to rare vocal repertoire. This fall, she will travel to Reutte, Austria to serve as a U.S. Teaching Assistant for the Austrian Fulbright commission. She will return the following year to attend Ohio State University, where she plans to pursue a Master’s degree in vocal pedagogy. None of these accomplishments would be possible without the loving encouragement of her parents, and

has also been fortunate enough to spend his last year at Lawrence studying composition and arranging with Fred Sturm. Ryan has accepted an internship at the New York Jazz Academy in Manhattan, and plans to move to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area after the summer to continue building his career as a musician.

Daniel Kuzuhara is a graduating senior from Madison, Wisconsin pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance at Lawrence University. Daniel has student taught at the Lawrence University Academy of Music. This fall, Daniel plans to attend the Indiana University at Bloomington where he will pursue a Master of Music in piano performance at the Jacobs School of Music. He hopes to explore other aspects of his interest in music in areas such as music composition, pedagogy, and conducting as well as continue his training in Tae Kwon Do, in which he recently earned his second-degree black belt. Daniel would like to give special thanks to his family, especially his sister, Carolyn, who has supported his passion for music throughout his life, his previous Madison Area Piano Teachers Association (MAPTA) teachers, Karen Hill and Julie Chang, and his current professor, Anthony Padilla, who has given unconditional support and countless hours of lessons during the last four years.

Her most recent performances include the role of Anna Maurrant in Kurt Weill’s opera, Street Scene, and her senior recital in which she sang a wide range of repertoire, from French composer Maurice Ravel, to composers such as Puccini, Schoenberg and Turina. In the fall of 2012 she furthered her studies in classical repertoire through IES Abroad in Vienna, Austria, where she studied with instructors from the Konservatorium Wien. She was named to the Dean’s List for the 2013-14 school year. While at Lawrence Natasha held leadership positions within campus organizations such as Kappa Kappa Gamma, the National Panhellenic Organization, Sigma Alpha Iota, and Relay for Life. Natasha was involved with the Lawrence Fund in the Student Ambassador Program as well as holds the senior class officer position of Agent. Within the Conservatory she served as Director and Treasurer to the all-female a cappella group, Conchordance, and was a member of both Cantala and Concert Choir. After graduating she will be spending the summer performing for Mill City Summer Opera in the chorus of Puccini’s Tosca. She will be attending University of Louisville starting in the fall of 2014 as an Opera Fellow with a Graduate Teaching Assistantship, studying under professor Edith Tidwell.

Jonathan Gmeinder of Hartland, Wisconsin is graduating with a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance with a minor in biology. He has had the pleasure of studying piano with Cathy Kautsky during his time at Lawrence. Jonathan has spent the past two summers abroad, studying solo piano in Spain in 2013, and Italian Opera in Italy in 2012. Jonathan has also been to the Green Lake Chamber Music Festival several times, participating as both a student and counselor. He has participated in private lessons and master classes with renowned pedagogues and performers from across the nation including Dale Duesing, Danielle Orlando, Robert McDonald, Jim Howsmon, and Gilbert Kalish. Next fall Jonathan will attend the Manhattan School of Music in pursuit of a Master of Music degree in vocal accompanying under the tutelage of Warren Jones. He has had an amazing time performing over and over again with his friends for the past five years, and will miss them all dearly.

Ryan Hays, a native of Des Moines, Iowa, is a candidate for the Bachelor of Music degree in double bass performance. At Lawrence, he studied bass with Mark Urness, and also studied with jazz pianist Bill Carrothers. In the fall of 2012, he spent five months at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam studying jazz and classical music with Dutch bassists Frans van der Hoeven and Ernst Glerum. Ryan has served the past four years as a member of the Lawrence Symphony Orchestra, the Lawrence University Jazz Band and Jazz Ensemble, and played in several jazz and classical chamber groups. He

Lauren Pulcipher, a native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, is a candidate for the Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance. During her time at Lawrence she has served as co-concertmistress of the Lawrence Symphony Orchestra, Lawrence Chamber Orchestra, and Lawrence Opera Orchestra, has participated in multiple chamber ensembles, given two recitals, and was a finalist in the 2012 LSO concerto competition where she performed Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major. During the summer of 2012, Lauren attended the Castleman Quartet Program in Boulder, Colorado where she learned and performed Bartok’s Quartet No. 3 and Brahms’ Violin Sonata No. 2 in A Major. This past summer, Lauren was the concertmistress of the College Light Opera Company orchestra in Falmouth, Massachusetts. She also spent spring term of her junior year at the Lawrence University London Centre where she studied with London Symphony violinist Louise Shackelton. Next fall, Lauren will begin a Master of Music degree in violin performance at the University of Michigan, where she will study with Aaron Berofsky. She has had the privilege of studying with Samantha George while at Lawrence.

Zoie Reams, a student of John T. Gates, is a senior voice performance major at Lawrence University. She has performed with the apprentice programs of Minnesota Opera and Chicago Lyric Opera. For the last four years, she has been honored as one of Wisconsin’s finest young singers at the Auditions of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Her sophomore year, Zoie performed Leonard Bernstein’s mezzo-soprano solo in Jeremiah with a full symphony orchestra. Zoie has performed roles in Lawrence University’s productions of Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring as well as Kurt Weill’s Street Scene. She has participated in Oberlin in Italy and La Musica Lirica’s summer intensive opera programs in Italy. In these programs she has performed the roles of Cenerentola in Rossini’s Cenerentola, Marcellina in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and this summer she will be performing the lead role of Doralba in Cimarosa’s L’impresario in angustie. Zoie will continue her music education at Louisiana State University in the fall for her Master of Music degree.

Gregory Riss is a percussionist who enjoys making friends through music. A candidate for the Bachelor of Music in performance from the studio of Dane Maxim Richeson, Greg has recently shared the stage with Alan Ferber, Nancy Zeltsman, and J.P. Jofre. During his study at Lawrence, Greg

Emily Crowe is from Glen Ellyn, Illinois and is a candidate for a Bachelor of Music in choral/general music education. Emily is a mezzo-soprano from the studio of Karen Leigh-Post. She started off her Lawrence career as a freshman in Into the Woods as Cinderella’s mother and was recently seen in the 2014 opera production Street Scene as Olga Olsen and has been in the opera scenes program for two years. Emily has been an active member in both Cantala and Concert Choir, and was a member of the ensembles that performed in both 2011 and 2014 ACDA conventions. Along with her vocal study, Emily worked for three years with the Lawrence Academy of Music Girl Choir program, as a manager for the Cantabile ensemble, grades 7-10, under the mentorship of Debbie Lind. She spent December of 2013 traveling with three other music education students to Sierra Leone, in West Africa, where they taught general music at several schools around the country. Along with her teaching, Emily conducted a research project, surveying cultural songs from the regions of Sierra Leone, and transcribing and arranging them to format a songbook. She displayed her senior experience project at her senior recital with the participation of the Cantabile Girl Choir. This fall, Emily will be moving to Qatar for one semester, where she will be working as a fine arts intern at the American School of Doha. Following the internship, she will complete student teaching in Appleton before moving to Phoenix, AZ to teach special education through Teach for America.

Max Feldkamp is a 5th-year double-degree student majoring in piano performance and mathematics with an emphasis in piano pedagogy. He will be beginning his Master of Music degree in piano performance and pedagogy at University of Colorado at Boulder in the fall. He has been playing piano for seventeen years, and is an alumnus of the Lawrence Academy of Music and the Young Performer program, in addition to Professor Anthony Padilla’s studio. In his time at Lawrence University, he has been recognized in many regional competitions including the Schubert Club Competition and MTNA. In addition to his academics and piano, Max was a theory tutor and aural skills teaching assistant at Lawrence, and he student taught piano at the Academy. He has also worked during the summer as a piano teaching assistant at Interlochen. Outside of music, Max Feldkamp has interests in audio recording, programming and computer science.

Natasha Lynn Foley, hailing from Anoka, MN, has studied with Kenneth Bozeman throughout her time at Lawrence University, where she is a candidate for a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance. At Lawrence, she has had numerous solo opportunities, including appearances in area recitals, master classes, choral concerts, opera scenes, and as a chosen

As a co-winner of the 2013 Wisconsin Public Radio’s Neale-Silva Young Artists’ Competition, Greg performed in a recital broadcast with saxophonist Joe Connor live on Wisconsin Public Radio. In the spring of 2013, professor Richeson granted Greg the opportunity to play Afro-Cuban percussion with Michael Spiro on his new album, Maxim Confit. Greg has performed with various Lawrence groups including the Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo 1, Symphony Orchestra, African, Brazilian, Cuban, and Western percussion ensembles. His primary teachers have included Dane Richeson, Tom Ross, and David Henzie-Skogen. He recently accepted a scholarship to pursue a Master’s degree in percussion performance at Rutgers University under the tutelage of Joe Tompkins, Mike Truesdell ’07, and Kyle Zerna.

Cayla Rosché is in the studio of Kenneth Bozeman and will be graduating with a double major in voice performance and choral/general music education. She was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and will be moving to Oak Creek, Wisconsin for her first year of teaching Middle School Choir. While at Lawrence she has performed in numerous operas, opera scenes, and musical ensembles. She also spent a summer singing with the Oberlin in Italy program in Arezzo, Italy where she had the opportunity to study with Delores Ziegler, from Maryland University, and other world class coaches and teachers. Her roles have included The Foreign Woman in The Consul, Lady Billows in Albert Herring, and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni. She performed with Cantala at the National ACDA convention in 2011 and then began singing with Concert Choir. Her five years at Lawrence have been full of experiences in both teaching and performing, and she thanks the wonderful staff at the Conservatory and College for all their support.

Elizabeth Schmidt, originally from Red Hook, New York, is graduating with a Bachelor of Music in horn performance. Elizabeth found her passion for orchestral playing while attending the NYSSSA Summer School of the Arts, School of Orchestral Studies in Saratoga Springs, NY in 2009, and has since been driven to make this part of her professional future. At Lawrence, she has been a member of the horn sections of the Lawrence Symphony Orchestra, Lawrence Chamber Orchestra, Opera Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble, as well as a member of the Concert Choir and Cantala Women’s Choir. In addition to large ensembles, she has given two solo recitals and played in many wonderful chamber groups. Elizabeth has had the privilege of studying with James DeCorsey while at Lawrence, as well as participating in master classes and seminars

Andrew Breuninger started his career as a treble when he was eight years old in Christ Church Cathedral’s Choir of Men and Boys, Indianapolis. He served two years as head chorister, was a soloist with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, performed on two European tours, and was a frequent soloist in the Cathedral’s Church Music Concert Series. Andrew studied under Joanne Bozeman at Lawrence University, and had the honor of participating in four operas, most notably as Mr. Gedge in Britten’s Albert Herring, and Mr. Olsen in Kurt Weill’s Street Scene. He received the 2013 Conservatory2 Scholarship at Lawrence to participate in Oberlin in Italy as a cover in Mozart’s Così fan tutte as well as participated in their emerging artist opera scenes program. He was a choral scholar at All Saints Church, Appleton for four years. In addition, Andrew was a finalist in Lawrence University’s 2014 Concerto Competition singing Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Songs of Travel. Following his Bachelor of Music in vocal performance at Lawrence, he will enroll at Michigan State University for a Master of Music with a teaching assistantship studying under Professor Richard Fracker. He will debut as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte with Michigan State Opera Theatre this fall.

Anthony Capparelli, a native of River Falls, WI, is a candidate for the Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance. During his time at Lawrence, he has enjoyed working on many collaborative projects, notably performing Schubert’s Die Schöne Müllerin with Ian Koziara. Starting on July 1st, Tony will embark on a Watson Fellowship, leaving the United States for a year to study Celtic and Scandinavian folk music and folklore in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Iceland. Following the fellowship, Tony will continue his piano studies in pursuit of his DMA in piano performance. He would like to thank his teacher Catherine Kautsky for her wisdom in teaching and her guidance these past four years.

Maire Clement has been determined to be a “singer and actress” since the second grade. A student of Steven Paul Spears, she has been seen on the Lawrence stage most recently as Greta Fiorentino in Kurt Weill’s Street Scene. She also performed as Emmie in Albert Herring, Little Edie in Grey Gardens and Clara in The Light in the Piazza. A recipient of the Conservatory2 Scholarship, she spent last summer in Italy where she was the cover of Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte. As a graduating senior, she is incredibly excited to continue her studies with a Master of Music in voice performance at the University of Louisville where she has been offered a graduate teaching assistant position in the fall.

She has been a finalist of the LSO Concerto Competition for the past two years, giving her the opportunity to share the stage with some of the finest musicians at Lawrence. She spent last summer on Cape Cod as part of the pit orchestra of the College Light Opera Company. As part of a brass quintet, Elizabeth traveled to Chicago in the spring of 2014 to perform as part of Kaleidoscope: A Spectrum of Music. Most recently, Elizabeth performed the Glière Horn Concerto in B-flat Major, op. 91 with the Lawrence Wind Ensemble as the 2014 LUWE Concerto Competition Winner. Elizabeth will continue her studies next year at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where she will study with Randall Gardner while pursuing her Master’s in horn performance.

Genevieve Schooler, a native of Olympia, Washington, is a candidate for the Bachelor of Music degree in instrumental music education. She will complete her training next fall, student teaching with Brian Cole in Moorhead, MN. Her focus for teacher training will be beginning string orchestra in grades 5-8. While at Lawrence, Genevieve has studied cello under the guidance of Janet Anthony, and has been a member of the Lawrence Symphony Orchestra as well as a member of the Viking Chorale. Genevieve served as cello soloist with the Viking Chorale providing one of her most memorable experiences at Lawrence. She has also been an active member of Delta Gamma Fraternity holding leadership positions in finance and member education.

Jonathan Stombres, a native of St. Charles, IL, is a candidate for a Bachelor of Music degree with double majors in voice performance and music education. He will student teach in Appleton and Chilton in the 2014-2015 year. A tenor, Jonathan is in the studio of Kenneth Bozeman. Jonathan has been a member of Concert Choir for all four of his years, serving as section leader this past year. This year he also regulated the Lawrence University Student Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association, a newly reopened chapter, aiding in the coordination of attending the NC-ACDA Conference as well as doing outreach to local schools’ choral programs. Additionally, he worked as a Head Residence Life Advisor for two years in Sage and Plantz Halls. Jonathan performed a variety of roles in multiple musicals and operas while at Lawrence including The Bartered Bride, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Fairy Queen, The Drowsy Chaperone, Albert Herring, and Street Scene. Tristan Tucker is a senior instrumental music education major from Petersburg, Illinois. At Lawrence, he has studied saxophone with Steven Jordheim, José Encarnación, and Sara Kind. He will be returning to the Appleton area in the fall to complete his education degree requirements by student teaching at Greenville Middle School. After that he hopes to teach at the Middle and High School level.

Michael Uselmann is a music theory/composition major from the studio of Joanne Metcalf. Michael is the recipient of the Pi Kappa Lambda composition award, and this spring, the Lawrence Symphony Orchestra performed excerpts from his new musical If There Were Anyone. Michael has also studied voice privately for four years in the studio of Joanne Bozeman and has performed in several Lawrence productions including: Trouble in Tahiti and Street Scene. Michael has spent the past three summers music directing regional theatre professionally and this summer he will be music directing at Timber Lake Playhouse in Mount Carroll, IL. In the fall, he will be moving to New York to earn his Master’s in musical theatre writing at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Michael thanks his professors, friends, and family for their constant inspiration and support.

Amber Verser, a native of Loveland, Colorado, is a fifth-year graduating with a Bachelor of Music in performance and a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and German. While at Lawrence, she has studied oboe with Howard Niblock. She has served as the principal of all three large instrumental ensembles at Lawrence, and has played for the opera and the choirs several times. She presented her musicological research about Berg’s Wozzeck at two conferences this past year. In her spare musical time, she enjoys playing with TraumTrio (her viola, oboe, and piano trio), her woodwind quintet, and her two oboe trios. Last year, she received a Mellon Grant to research at the Hindemith Institute in Frankfurt, Germany over the summer, and can’t wait to go back to Europe. So next year, she will be moving to London to pursue a Master of Music in oboe performance at the Royal College of Music.

Abigail Wagner, a native of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, graduated from Lawrence in January 2014 with a Bachelor of Music in viola performance and instrumental/general music education. She studied viola with Matthew Michelic at Lawrence. In the past year, she has performed with the Fox Valley, Green Bay, and Oshkosh Symphony Orchestras. She teaches violin and viola lessons in her own Appleton studio and with the Door County String Academy in Sturgeon Bay. She won the 2013 WiASTA Solo Competition and was a finalist in the 2012 Lawrence Symphony Orchestra

Concerto Competition. Last summer, she studied with Patricia McCarty at the Meadowmount School of Music. In the fall of 2014, she will return to Vienna, Austria, where she studied abroad during her junior year at Lawrence, to teach English and research Austrian folk music on a Fulbright scholarship. TraumTrio has been an important part of her development as a violist, and she cannot thank Amber and Thomas enough for the wonderful experience of playing together!

Alexander York is a student of Steven Paul Spears from Muskego, WI. He has been seen in many productions at Lawrence during his time here, including Into the Woods (Cinderella’s Prince), The Fairy Queen (Hymen), The Light in the Piazza (Fabrizio), The Drowsy Chaperone (Robert Martin), Albert Herring (Sid), and, most recently, Street Scene (Harry Easter). Last summer, he covered Maximillian in Candide at the Aspen Summer Music Festival, and the previous summer was spent attending the Oberlin in Italy program as Lawrence’s Conservatory2 Scholarship winner. He was also chosen to introduce writer Alex Ross on Lawrence’s convocation series. Alex will be singing the role of Belcore this summer at the La Musica Lirica program in Novefeltria, Italy before moving on to pursue his Master of Music at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music in the fall.

Kelson Zbichorski, is a native of Milwaukee, WI graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in music with a minor in Spanish. He studies percussion in the studio of Dane Richeson. In his time at Lawrence he has participated in a variety of musical groups including LUJE, jazz combos, percussion ensembles, Symphonic Band, Balinese Gamelan, and a few student-run bands. The Balinese Gamelan ensemble run by I Dewa Ketut Alit Adnyana captured his attention the most. He received a Senior Experience grant to study this music in Bali, Indonesia in the summer of 2013 and performed some of it on his recital. After graduation he plans to move to Chicago, IL.

Katrina Zosseder, a native of the San Francisco Bay Area, has enjoyed the past five years as a Wisconsinite. As a participant in the double-degree program, Katrina will graduate Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Kappa Lambda with majors in vocal performance and anthropology. A member of the studios of Karen Leigh-Post and Samantha George, she has pursued her love of violin alongside her vocal degree through lessons and many ensembles. She recently completed a fifth-year recital in which she focused on early and new vocal repertoire. Through generous funding from the Lawrence Mellon Grant, she recently had the opportunity to conduct pilot research in Ireland focused on traditional music, which culminated

in her Anthropology senior experience, “Reels, Apps, YouTube: Changing Performance Practices of Irish Session Music.” She had the honor of presenting on this topic at the Harrison Symposium and MIDSEM Conference. Ever active in her educational pursuits, she is a regular attendee at the McGuinness Irish music session. She hopes to continue this research through graduate school and many return trips to Ireland.
