Lord, use us as You want; whatever the test By grace we'll preach Your Gospel till our dying breath. I was lost but He brought me in; oh, His love for me. Oh, His love for me! Who the Son sets free, oh, is free indeed! I'm a child of God, yes, I am! Free at last! He has ransomed me. His grace runs deep. While I was a slave to sin, Jesus died for me. Yes, He died for me! Who the Son sets free, oh, is free indeed! I'm a child of God, yes, I am! In my Father's house, there's a place for me. I'm a child of God. yes, I am! I am chosen, not forsaken. I am who You say I am. You are for me, not against me. I am who You say I am. I am chosen, not forsaken. I am who You say I am. You are for me, not against me. I am who You say I am. I am who You say I am. Who the Son sets free, oh, is free indeed! Music and Lyrics: Ben Fielding, Reuben Morgan, © 2017 Hillsong Music Publishing Australia PRAYER OF CONFESSION Heavenly Father, we spend a lot of me pretending to have it all together because we dont like to think of ourselves any other way. Neither do we want others to see us any other way. So we act as if we know things that we dont know, and we dont ask the quesons we need to ask. We act as if we can handle things that we cant handle, and we dont seek the help thats available. We act as if weve conquered things that we have not conquered, and we dont reach out for help for the bale. It is all a failed quest for the self-congratulatory glory of independence. Forgive us and restore us to sasfied dependence on you. July 26, 2020 Welcome! Whether you are young or old; first time in a church or a long-time worshipper, full of questions and doubt or confidence and joy – or places in between all that - we are glad you are here! Our desire is that no matter where in life you are, you feel welcome in this place. So, if there is any way we can be of help to you please see one of our ushers and we will do the best we can to make you feel at home. What does it mean to have faith in Christ? [To have Faith in Christ] means, of course, trying to do all that He says. There would be no sense in saying you trusted a person if you would not take his advice. Thus if you have really handed yourself over to Him, it must follow that you are trying to obey Him. But trying in a new way, a less worried way. Not doing these things in order to be saved, but because He has begun to save you already. Not hoping to get to Heaven as a reward for your actions, but inevitably wanting to act in a certain way because a first faint gleam of Heaven is already inside you.” C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

PRAYER OF CONFESSION Heavenly Father, we spend a lot of time pretending to have it all together because we don’t like to think of ourselves any other way. Neither do we want others to see us any other way. So we act as if we know things that we don’t know, and we don’t ask the questions we need to ask. We act as if we can handle things that we can’t handle, and we don’t seek the help that’s available. We act as if we’ve conquered things that we have not conquered, and we don’t reach out for help for the battle. It is all a failed quest for the self-congratulatory glory of independence. Forgive us and restore us to satisfied dependence on you.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:8-10)

Leader: Friends, live from the gospel. People: We will walk in God’s grace!

CHILDREN’S LESSON Jenny Hubbard

Great is Thy Faithfulness Refrain: Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning new mercies I see; All I have needed Thy hand hath provided Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father, There is no shadow of turning with Thee: Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not; As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

Summer and winter, and spring-time and harvest, Sun, moon, and starts in their courses above Join with all nature in manifold witness To Thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love. [Refrain]

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth, Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide; Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, Blessing all mine, with ten thousands beside! [Refrain]

SERMON LESSON Luke 15:11-32 Doug Ashley

SERMON “The Pursuit”

*Good, Good Father Refrain: You’re a good, good Father! It’s who You are.

It’s who You are. It’s who You are. And I’m loved by You! It’s who I am. It’s who I am. It’s who I am.

I’ve heard a thousand stories of what they think You’re like. But I’ve heard the tender whisper of love in the dead of night; You tell me that You’re pleased, and that I’m never alone.

I’ve seen many searching for answers far and wide; But I know we’re all searching for answers only You provide. Because You know just what we need before we say a word. [Refrain]

Love so undeniable, I can hardly speak! Peace so unexplainable, I can hardly think. As You call me deeper still, as You call me deeper still, As You call me deeper still, into love, love, love! [Refrain]

You are perfect in all of Your ways! You are perfect in all of Your ways! You are perfect in all of Your ways to us. (Repeat) [Refrain]
