14 FOURTH ISSUE COMIC 1 ST S COMIC 1 ST S On March 2015, The Pusroh Organizer of Marime Higher Educaon Instute Jakarta held a compeon among senior high school which located at the auditorium hall. This event regarde the birth of Prophet Muhammad and also promoted our campus to senior high school in term of next cadet generaon. The event divided in 2 secons, Compeon on 21 st March and Tabligh Akbar on 24 th March 2015. The first secon was opened by a speech by the religion commander Bunyamin Ni’matullah Hamid and connued with compeon secon. In this secon, there were 4 compeons, such as marawis, contest of wits, speech religion and memorizing al-quran compeon. On the midday, all competors went to mosque Al-Bahr for Zuhur prayer together. Aſter that, all of us went to the auditorium for watching the final contest of wits and decided the winner. The event was closed by Nasyid Team performance of STIP.

COMIC 1ST SEASONCOMIC 1ST SEASONOn March 2015, The Pusroh Organizer of Maritime Higher Education Institute Jakarta held a competition among senior high school which located at the auditorium hall. This event regarde the birth of Prophet Muhammad and also promoted our campus to senior high school in term of next cadet generation. The second section was the final event of Tabligh akbar with Ust. Taufiqurrahman. He gave a religion speech in the opening. All the audiences looked delighted and interested to his speech. On this occasion, the Pusroh Organizer also invited Nasyid Gradasi as a guest star. There were also Bazar and Bekam for everyone in attendance. The Bazar was held in the Sport Hall and Bekam in the Auditorium.

At last, the Pusroh Organizer announced the winners of each competition in COMIC 1st SEASON. The winners come forward to in front of the stage. This event was closed by Religion Commander and Nasyid Gradasi performance.

This event is expected to be a sustainable activity that could be a media for improving the relation among the Islam Religion. Moreover, this event will be a ‘window’ for the citizen to know better STIP. (Zul)

It was a great occasion when the senior and junior of STIP could be cooperate each other in one activity. Because of that, both the senior or junior cadets could build a bond of togetherness to create a conducive atmosphere. The cadets had a great chance to fulfill that in Sport and Art Season of Dormitory Meeting that was held on December 15th to 19th 2015. The event was followed by all the cadets from each level.

The event was opened by the ceremony led by the Principal. In his speech, he hope an event that tighten the seniority should be held continuously as a good tradition for proving to the civilian that STIP is not identical to violence institution. However it looked different since all the participants wore football jersey that was supposed to enliven the sport atmosphere.

On this event, all cadets in one dormitory used a same jersey to unite them in one flag. Each dormitory has one mascot to symbolize what dormitory they were. The mascot led their members of dormitory to bring yell-yell, moreover he had to burn the spirit of his member to give the best performance in this event.

There were so many activities on this event, such as wall painting, tug of war, soccer, swimming, basketball, 100 meters run, volley, etc. This competition made the senior and junior knew each other, cooperated in beating the other dorm, and communicated with a good way. This event was expected to be a bridge for all cadets in maintaining and building good relationships among junior and senior. (Yehezkiel)

The 58th anniversary of Maritime Higher Education Institute Jakarta was an event organized by Maritime Higher Education Institute in order to commemorate the 58 years founding of STIP. Precisely on February 27th 2015. Where so many dents bustle that has taken place on the campus of STIP.

This event last for a day, but in fact the event was held before the day with other event and activities like senior high school futsal competition, tug of war between employees and officers of STIP and blood donation which were followed by cadets, employees, and officers of STIP.

Dies Natalis began with breakfast at Dining Hall 1 where the entire cadet wore sport uniform after that, we went to the Starfield for aerobic activity with big family of Maritime Higher Education Institute. After that, the event continued with a promotion from Vegeta. They gave some gift to the officer, aerobics instructor and cadets. After that, the entire participant of Dies Natalis went to the center of the starfield for releasing balloon. It was supposed to be a mark that Dies Natalis 58 was officially opened.

The event continued in the dining hall 1 with officers and cadet used by daily uniform. The event opened by a greeting from the principal of STIP and continued by cutting tumpeng that was given to represent the youngest and oldest cadet as a symbolic opening of the anniversary event as well as the announcement of the winner from competitions held in STIP and the reward for the best lecturer and authors this year.

The event was very festive with all existing components. Afterwards it was continued with entertainment event; all of cadets went to in front of the stage to dance and sing together between senior and junior. The jokes and laughter come to enliven this event.

This year’s anniversary was very memorable. Hopefully the Maritime Higher Education Institute will always be better each year for creating quality officers in maritime sector. Happy Anniversary for STIP, wish you all the best. (Anita & Annisa)

A VISIT OF THE TRANSPORT’S MINISTER

STIP is one of the institutions under the auspices of the Ministry of Transportation. STIP has an obligation to develop the maritime sector of the country, especially in maritime transportation.

Monday, March 9th 2015 was a great moment for STIP which got an honor to welcome the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Ignatius Jonan. The minister and his entourage was planned to visit STIP and arrived at 3.50 pm. They were welcomed by the Principal of STIP, the officers, and the employees. Mr. Ignatius Jonan then directed towards the Maritime Room for taking rest with the officials of STIP.

After that, The Minister looked around the premises of STIP. The first location which visited was Seafarers’ Training of Kalangie Center Building with full of ship simulator. There were so many cadets trained on the simulator when the minister is coming. During the

cadets trained, the journalist had a discussion section with the minister. They discussed about the efforts to improve the quality of the cadets.

The next destination was Bintar Building which supported by CCTV Room to watch all activities on STIP. He saw all activities on the monitor for short to make sure all things are going properly. Dormitory was the last point was visited by The Minister to see the cadets resting place in STIP.

The minister requested to talk with 2 cadets and female cadets privately. He wanted to make a discussion with them. The discussion held in the Principal’s office room. There were the Minister, the Principal, The head of BPSDM, and the four representative cadets of STIP involved on the discussion.

Finally, the minister and his entourage finished with his visitation and left STIP at 5.30 pm and continued for BP3IP in Sunter. Hopefully the minister has many occasions like this to monitoring all the institution of Transportation to run properly and have improvement day by day for the future. (Andreas)

STIP was held a Futsal Competition for the high school around Jakarta on February 18th to 24th 2015. This event was regarded by STIP’s 58th anniversary and institution promotion which was realized in this competition.

This competition was opened by the 2nd Principal’s Assistant, Ir. Desamen Simatupang, SE, MM who deputized the Principal of STIP. On that occasion he said, “Through this futsal competition, it is also expected to develop and to improve the sport achievements of students, in a series of STIP’s 58th Anniversary,

as well to prepare for the coming student’s enrolment 2015”

There were 22 teams of various high school from Jakarta and West Java which followed this tournament. The matches took place the sports hall of STIP. All the students were enthusiasm to follow this tournament; they tried to defeat the opponent’s team and win this tournament with all of their strength.

Same, at the last day of the tournament, all matches were over and this tournament gained its

champions. The winnder were as follows:

1st : SMK Cikini (Jakarta)

2nd : SMK Taruma Jaya (Bekasi)

3rd : MAN Taruma Jaya (Bekasi)

4th : SMAN 44 (Jakarta)

The champions got a rotating trophy, certificate, and cash prize. Hopefully this tournament could become a ‘bridge’ for the students of high school to know STIP better. (Rio).

THE REGIMENT STAFF

HANDOVERNEWS

The regiment staff handover is a continuous event in Maritime Higher Education Institute. This event was held ceremonially every six months. The handover was from the second wave of batch 53 to the first wave of batch 54. After leading the regiment for about 6 months the previous regiment staffs, the second wave of batch 53, handedover their duties to the new regiment staffs which were the second wave of batch 54.

The ceremony of regiment staff handover was held at Makara on February 14th. The ceremony began at around 04.00 p.m. and Capt. Rudiana Muchlis, M.M., the Principal of STIP, had a role as the inspector of the ceremony. There were some officers who are taking part in the ceremony and also the previous regiment staffs and the new regiment staff. All cadets attended the ceremony and stayed in the position where they were supposed to be. The inspector of ceremony delivered his mandate,he said “The former regiment staffs have led the regiment well and have done everything as good as they can. I hope that the new regiment staffs can do much better than their predecessors and I believe they can do it and be model for their junior.”

For the second time drumband team batch 56 took part during the ceremony but on that occasion they didn’t play completely full team. Only the blow team took part during the ceremony.

The symbolisation of handover. After PATAKA team brought the banner to the front of ceremonial inspector. the predecessor gave the banner to the ceremonial inspector as the symbol of returning the responsibilities. Then, the ceremonial inspector handed over the banner to the successor as the symbol of assigning to be official regiment commander. (Mei & Valdy)

GRADUATIONOF BATCH 53 SECOND WAVE

Maritime Higher Education Institute held a graduation ceremony for graduates of diploma IV and second & third grade of officer trainee on April 16th 2015. It was held on the Star Field. All graduates and cadets of STIP entered the Star Field when the trumpet had blowing twice.

The graduation had a theme “Be Tough towards the Global Maritime Axis” which means we need to make Indonesian’s Maritime stepp forward internationally. On D IV Program of STIP, there were 54 Nautical Graduates and 42 Technical Graduates. In addition seafarer training program inaugurated 88 officer trainees that consist of 46 nautical officer trainees (class II), 42 technical officer trainees (class II), and 19 nautical officer trainees (class III).

Head of Human Resources Development, Wahyu Satrio Utomo, SH., M.Si, said in his speech after the ceremony that he expected to provide service to the nation and the State in the field of transportation in full performance to carry out the reform in facing the globalization process which takes place in higher intensity, especially in the field of maritime transport. “The expertise and skills that have you acquired during the training in the STIP should be used as a preparation and it needs to be developed and strengthened to meet the challenges and opportunities in the field of shipping solid both national regulations and international”.

At the end of the speech, the Head of the Agency congratulated

and hoped that the graduates can uphold the alma mater motto “Nauyanam Avasyabhavi Jivanam Anavasyabhavi”.

The performance in inauguration were done by Samir embedding and Homeland loyalty embodiment, as well as entertainment performance hosted by STIP cadets, such as Rifle colony, Creative Dance (Goyang Dumang), and Drumband.

The entire graduated officer was expected to support and increase the national of maritime sector as a professional officer. Moreover, become a part of society who are able to be useful wherever they are. (Thobat)

On Thursday, 4 february 2015, Mokpo National Maritime University which is under the auspices of ministry of Korean Education visited STIP.

The Korean Maritime University was represented by Professor Capt.Gung Su,Rim Ph.D ( Master of Training), Prof. Hong Ryeal, Kim Ph.D (Training Ship Chief Engineer), Prof. Bu Gi kim, Ph.D ( Division of Marine Mechatronics ) Prof. Orlando S Dimailig ( Facility of Marine transportation System) and 120 cadets level 4.

The team was arrived at 9.00 a.m an was welcomed by the first Deputy of STIP, Capt. Wisnu Risianto and his staff.

Akhmad Kasan Gufron as the head of language unit presented the profileof STIP. STIP’s officers and the member of regiment staff gave a tour around the campus for the team. Cadet’s Dormitory, classroom, and AGB Bridge Simulator were some places in the tour list.

The goal of the visititation made us realize the important role of language. There ini bridging the two universities, English is used. If our English is not good, there’s no way we understand them. Therefore, improving our English still is a must to join better result. (Amelinda)

A. EDUCATION AND TRAINING UPGRADING OF SEAFARERS COMPETENCY PROGRAMME FOR DECK OFFICER CLAS - II

The Requirements for Participants undertaking Education and Training for Deck Officer Class – II are the holders of Certificate of Competency Deck Officer Class – III who possess:

1. A Letter of Education and Training Completion for Seafarer Competency Upgrading Program Class – III, or Diploma – III for Deck Officer Class – III (DOC - III), or Certificate of Education and Training for Deck Officer Class – III (DOC - III) in accordance with the 2010 STCW Manila Amendments;

2. Recognized seagoing experience as Deck Officers Class – III having watchkeeping duties on bridge not less than 36 months on board vessel more than GT 500, or not less than 24 months, which are 12 months has been served as Chief Officers on board vessel more than GT 3000 unrestricted voyages;

3. Certificates of Proficiency training for seafarer : a. Basic Safety Training (BST);b. Advance Fire Fighting (AFF);c. Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boat (PSCRB); d. Medical First Aid (MFA); e. Medical Care (MC); f. Radar – ARPA Simulator; g. Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS); h. Bridge Resources Management (BRM).

4. Medical Certificate from hospital or other medical institutions as approved by the Directorate General for Sea Transportation;

5. Birth Certificate;6. Personal Identitiy Card or other legal ones;7. Passed admission test.

After graduated as a young officer from STIP, we will hold certificate of competency officer class – III. Some of us maybe will take the next level of the certificate or usually we called upgrading program. On this occasion I will give the information of the requirement to take the officer class – II that you will needed in the future. The information is for nautical and technical officers mentioned below:

The Requirements for Participants undertaking Education and Training for Engine Officer Class – II are the holders of Certificate of Competency Engineer Officers Class – III who possess:

1. A Letter of Education and Training Completion for Seafarer Competency Upgrading Program Class – III, or Diploma – III for Engineer Officer Class – III (DOC -III), or Certificate of Education and Training for Engineer Officer Class – III(DOC - III) in accordance with the 2010 STCW Manila Amendments;

2. Recognized seagoing experience as Engineer Officer Class – III in charge of engineering watch in a manned engine room or as designated duty engineers in a periodically unmanned engine room not less than 36 months on board vessel with main propulsion machinery of more than 750 KW, or not less than 24 months, are 12 month has been which served as Second Engineer on board vessel with main propulsion machinery of 750 KW propulsion power unrestricted voyages;

3. Certificates of Proficiency training for seafarer :a. Basic Safety Training (BST);b. Advance Fire Fighting (AFF);c. Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boat (PSCRB);d. Medical First Aid (MFA);e. Medical Care (MC);f. Engine Resources Management (ERM).
