A representative will visit NAMS in January to provide training. However, many of you have already had training. You may begin using the item bank immediately. Lizbel Loechle's Schedule at NAMS- Lizbel is at NAMS all day on Wednesdays, in the morning on Thursdays, and in the afternoons on Fridays. She does have the flexibility to work with you to accommodate parent schedules for meetings and phone calls. Book studies and PD schedule in 2012-Our PD schedule for 2012 has been adjusted. ELA teachers will now be asked to provide an overview highlighting key information from the book Readicide in February. Other staff members will be asked to provide the same of presentation for Threads of Reading in March. The focus of January’s presentation will be ongoing professional development for RtI. Somehow the phony Chinese proverb over the years has been given the literal meaning that a picture is equivalent to a thousand words setting up a clash between words and pictures in the minds of users of the two. With digital hegemony, visual messages have reasserted their position as an important communication medium, but at the cost of not recognizing the combination of words and pictures as vital in communication. With the correct interpretation of the proverb, words and pictures live in harmony as they are both used equally in order to understand the meaning of any work that uses them both.
