Yes, we have legal regulations to check cars and trucks periodically. Those are:

For new cars:

every 4 years.

For cars older than 4 years:

every 2 years.

For cars older than 10 years:

once a year.

As a consecuence, there were:

10. Which rules do you have at zebra crossings?

• We stand next to the curb, not in the street.

• Show an intention to cross, look to either side.

• When cars are stopped, begin to cross, always straight and without stopping.

Are drivers forced to stop for pedestrians?

• Drivers must stop when a pedestrian is at a zebra crossing.

• Pedestrians have priority, but should leave open the road when emergency vehicles circulate such as fire, police or ambulance.

11. Which information is given on your number plates?

In our plates you can see:• Number plates in Spain are white with black numbers.• Since 2000, number plates have the "European vehicle registration

plate ” format. There are four numbers and three consonants (not vowels nor are the letters Ñ, Q, CH and LL).

• They have a blue strip on the left side of the plate with the European flag symbol and our country code: “E” for “España” (Spain).

12. It is possible to exchange the number

plates, for example one number for two cars?

•You can’t change number plates in Spain.

• There is also a touristic plate (eg T 0000 BBB), for temporary import of vehicles. This allow foreigners to use a vehicle bought in Spain before registering it in their country.

Yes, we need an insurance for our car by law, before you can drive a vehicle, you need:

• Proper insurance for the vehicle.

• A permit that says you are the legal owner of the vehicle.

• Licence plates with up-to-date validation stickers.

14. DO YOU HAVE TO WEAR A KIND OF HAZARD WARNING JACKET IN TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS

OR BREAKDOWNS? IF YES, WHO? •In Spain, you must wear a reflective jacket in traffic accidents and breakdowns.

•The jacket must be kept within the passenger compartment. 

•The jacket can be yellow, orange or red, its reflective strips should not be less than 5 cm wide and must surround the entire body contour.

15. At which age can you learn to drive?

•To drive a car you have to be 18 years old, but to drive a motorcycle you have to be 15.

•Normally you have to learn in a driving school to get a driving license.

16. What is the alcohol limit in your country?

In Spain, the law currently does not allow driving if the Blood alcohol content (BAC) exceeds 0.5 grams per liter in blood or 0.25 mg per liter in expired air.

For drivers with less than 2 years of license or professionals (truckers and bus drivers), BAC is 0.3 g / L of blood alcohol.

•Highway mode carried 89% of domestic cargo traffic.•Maritime mode, being the second option, carried 6% of total tons transported in Spanish territory.•The rail mode was used by 1.6% of the goods transported, ranking as the third mode of transport used. •Finally, the airline industry barely reached 0.01% of total goods transported.
