This book is not a holiday album, behind each picture lies a lot of effort. The photos are the testimony and the result of many hours of work to achieve the goals set by the coordinators and to organize four different journeys across Europe.The project was named FRESBICY because it stands for the first two letters of each country involved. In FRance our pupils tried to reproduce by means of four dimension models what they had learnt about the countries architecture. In EStonia they studied history related to children’s tales and they wrote and illustrated their own booklet about the Conquest of Majorca.

In the Balearic Islands they worked on paintings and modern art trying to paint “in the manner of” some representative artists like Miró, Barceló and Anglada-Camarassa. And finally in CYprus they discovered ancient sculpture and pottery, they drew posters in the art class imagining the original works of art.So, as a result we are all more aware of how different and how similar Art and Life can be in our respective countries.

Visit to Cyprus. from 21st to 29th of November 2009

Spanish students drawings about Cyprus.A whole class from 3rd of ESO took part in the making of the poster working on photos showing earlier Art work from Cyprus. This was part of the curriculum where they studied points and lines in drawings.

Final product submitted by Spanish students. The key question was: “How do you imagine Cyprus?”.

They worked on stereotypes from pictures and information sent by Cypriot partners through the Internet.

DAY 1: 21-11-2009. A long, long trip: PMI-MAD; MAD-ATH; ATH-LCAFinally six ambassadors were chosen from the class to travel 3280 km to Aphrodita’s place of birth.

DAY 2: 22-11-2009

Visit to the art museum in Nicosia where we could see earlier Art work from the island and discover the roots of their civilization and History.

It was also a first contact with the country’s delicious gastronomy.

DAY 3: 23-11-09One of the best preserved ancient Greek theater: Kourion, still used today for all types of performances.Discovering a different cuisine was also acquiring European Awareness.

DAY 4. 24-11-09The mornings were usually spent at school, while in the afternoons we visited places such as the orthodox monastery of Machairotissa and Fikardou village

DAY 5. 25-11-09Discovering how important education can be as shown by the secondary school of Nicosia.Visit to the Byzantine Museum as well as the Art craft and Folklore Museum

DAY 6 . 26-11-2009 A very interesting guided tour around the Nicosia, the last European capital divided by a wall,... and free time shopping for souvenirs.

DAY 7. 26/11/09. A very active last day at school: painting the mural “the fingerprints of FRESBICY”, dancing Majorcan folk dances, singing and acting,sharing food from different countries,...and farewell to many people.

DAY 8. 28/11/09Departure day.Another long, long trip ahead, coming back home very tired and very sad to leave Cyprus.

Visit to Mallorca. from 23rd of April to 2nd of May 2010

On this part of the project all our pupils were involved in the organization and the making of the activity program, translating into English the different documents given to our European friends.

DAY 1: 25-4-2010

Enjoying the first day on the island with families.Discovering the Monastery of Lluc. Trekking through the mountains and sharing a crowded BBK offered by families.

DAY 2: 26-4-2010First day at school: attending classes, playing games together, sharing foods including paella, meeting the local authorities, dancing sirtaky, and doing a clay workshop.

DAY 3: 27-4-2010Artistic gymkhana exploring 20 places of interest in the city of Palma.

DAY 4: 28-4-2010We took the old and touristic train to the village of Sóller to visit the Can Prunera Museum and a Miró exhibition.

And we traveled with the unique tram left to go to the port for lunch.

DAY 5: 29-4-2010We took the bus to the East of the island to enjoy the famous caves of the Dragon “Coves del Drach” and then to the North, Alcudia and its roman city of Pollentia.

DAY 6: 30-4-2010Farewell to our Cypriots friends.The remaining visitors spent some time at school taking lessons but also watching a fun English performance together.

DAY 7: 1-5-2010

French group departing in the afternoon, many emotions, a lot of crying but already looking forward to the next meeting in France the following year.

The Spanish students and teachers were working for many hours and many days, to edit these three leaflets to guide our partners during their stay in Mallorca.

Visit to France. From 28th of January to 5th of February 2011

DAY 1: 28-1-2011. PMI-ZRH; ZRH-GVA; GENEVA-PONTARLIER. We were ready for very cold weather, the valley of Mouthe is known as the little Siberia, temperatures such as -40º are sometimes registered in winter. Fortunately, we only reached -14º during our stay.

DAY 2: 29-1-2011. Warm welcome in our host families, they took care of us and provided us with warm clothing to face the weather and enjoy open air activities and beautiful landscapes. It was a perfect introduction to the country.

DAY 3: 30-01-11. Ice skating is very popular in the area, but for visitors from Mallorca or Cyprus, it was an unforgettable experience! Over the weekend, we were introduced to the famous French cuisine and were given authentic homemade crepes. Delicious!!!

DAY 4:31-01-11. All the visitors worked hard setting up the exhibition of their paintings and models. They also attended classes with their French mates and met the local authorities at the Town Hall.

DAY 5: 1-02-11. After a busy day at school, we took a walk to the source of the river Loue and then headed to a typical mountain refuge to spend the night and prepare a fondue with local Comté cheese.

DAY 6: 2-02-11. We spent the afternoon watching impressive ski jumps, trying husky sleighs and finally, learning the whole process of making the famous Mont d’Or cheese in a local “fromagerie”.

DAY 7: 3-02-11. We travelled by bus to Besançon where we had a guided tour of the modern art museum and some free time to admire the fortress of the Citadelle. After lunch in a small bistro, we ended the day doing a treasure hunt at the museum of the Maisons Comtoises.

DAY 8: 4-02-11. We even tasted absinthe in Pontarlier. We also visited the Joux Castle which dates back to the 12th century before rushing to the farewell party.

Visit to Estonia. from 1st to 7th of May 2011

Marratxí school: Working on the illustrations for the book: The Conquest of Mallorca, from the Muslims to the Christians.

DAY 1, 1-05-11. Another long journey ahead for all the participants. We flew from Madrid to Riga Where a minibus was waiting to drive us to our Estonian host families in Parnü. Unfortunately our luggage didn’t make it that day.

DAY 2, 2-5-11. First contact with the wonderful Estonian spas. In the afternoon all the participants were able to enjoy the official welcome given by the Major of Parnü, followed by performances of traditional dances and songs.

DAY 3, 3-05-11. We were given a class by Estonian pupils about the country. we participated in a workshop, painting how we saw a city. Finally, we took a guided walk in the swamps: Tolkuse.

DAY 4: 4-5-11. A whole day is not enough to see everything in Tallin, the beautifully preserved old city, where the ancient meets the modern. We visited the Modern Art Museum of KUMU and the National Puppet Theatre,... time left to take a bath in the spa.

DAY 5, 5-5-11. The Red Tower is one of the oldest building in Parnü where we could do a glass workshop, so all of us had a little souvenir made by ourselvesto take home. In the afternoon, we had a glimpse at Estonian Art Nouveau in Ammende Villa.

DAY 6, 6-5-11The students presented their tasks to all the participants. Three different History books were read in class.The Estonian teachers drew conclusions about how everything had worked out.
