The great majority of the female students belong to the middle class, with a raising economic development, and with parents’ support to go on further studies. It can be observed a great change between them and their mothers only a 5% considers the possibility of leaving their studies to devote themselves to family life, although for a 15% family life will be first to professional career. They still show a strong rejection to study Technical Specialities and think that they are better at Social and Language Subjects.

In general they are happy with the training they receive, there exists a 10% that has felt discriminated for being a woman. The majority believe that women have more difficulties to find a job and that maternity is still a handicap to make family and working life meet. They also think that women earn less than men but the professional demands on them are higher. They are optimistic about the future and believe that labour discrimination will decrease little by little.

In general female students get better marks than male students in all the countries object of study. It is specially remarked that girls get higher percentages in the highest marks (good and very good).Austrian marks are mainly concentrated in the three central categories (pass, sufficient and good).Differences between male and female students are stronger in Greece. Although differences between boys and girls exist in Italy, these are not so outstanding.Romanian students rarely fail any subject and marks are usually very high. Marks in Spain are quite spread along the five categories.

The survey has been answered by 217 female teachers, the common profile shows that they are workers with university studies and experience, able to communicate in English (70%) and in some cases in other languages. They normally use IT resources in their daily work – mainly computers and the internet. They have a calling for their jobs and are satisfied with their teaching job (65%). The qualification they possess is very varied although languages and economy tend to be the most predominant. The great majority of female teachers has never felt discriminated for their sex and think that their female students are even less discriminated (90%). Cooperation with male partners is very rewarding. They also believe that their female students are perfectly suitable to develop technical careers and they add that girls should still be encouraged to study and work in these professional fields.

A high percentage of teachers (70%) think that their female students get better marks, especially in languages and social studies, nevertheless they still have difficulties to get access to the labour market. The great majority believe that women are every time getting a position with more responsibility within the labour market, although 50% do not want to get it, as family is their first priority. There is still a great percentage believing that women have still more difficulties to find a job, they still consider that there is discrimination and that is hard to try to make family and professional life meet, since women’s careers are still conditioned by family burdens. Finally it is important to point out that every country agrees that women’s situation will change in future (60 %) although it will take time: men do not show enough commitment and women do not fight strongly for it.

It has been proved that our female students get, generally speaking, better marks than our male students. Besides, female students feel their training is adequate when they finish their Vocational Training Studies.Nevertheless, women have more difficulties to get into the labour market and the difficulties are even greater to get positions of responsability in the institutions. All this is clearly related to the difficulties they still find when they try to make family and career meet. This is not the same for men.

““Investigation about the situation of women Investigation about the situation of women in technical-professional educationin technical-professional education””
The higher access to training for females with respect to their mothers and the social changes we are witnessing, are going to contribute to the reduce the discriminating factors between men and women in the access and promotion within the labour market.Future is optimistic, but it is also necessary to keep working on the education and social aspects, to be able to get that men and women fight alike for a real equality and they will be able to understand that a balanced labour market will bring along with equality, an improvement of the conditions of life for both sexes.
