HISTORY IN OUR KITCHEN Ranelagh Primary School
WE HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT WINTER FOODS AND LINKED IT TO THE CHRISTMAS FESTIVITIES
Each year group ad a part of the menu to research as well as cooking experiences.
EARLY YEARS MINCE PIES
Reception asked their grand parents for their favourite mince pie recipe.
The class then decided on which recipe to use.
We invited the grandparents in on the last day to taste their handy work!
YEAR 1 CUPCAKES
YEAR 2 Christmas cookies
Year 1 looked at different cook books for an easy Christmas cookie recipe to use.
They linked it to their maths unit on measurements.
YEAR 3 COOKIES
YEAR 4 TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS PUDDING
(WITH OUT THE ALCOHOL)
Year 3 researched different traditional Christmas puddings using the internet and asking their
parents at home.
YEAR 5 TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS MENU
Traditional roast Turkey, sage and onion stuffing
The turkey is served with some or all of the following Pigs in a Blanket aka Sausages Wrapped in Bacon. Roast Potatoes Mashed Potatoes Roast Parsnips Buttered Brussels Sprouts with Chestnuts Braised Red Cabbage Bread Sauce and Cranberry Sauce
Dessert
No British Christmas is complete without a Christmas pudding. Despite reports that the traditional Christmas pudding has fallen out of favour for lighter desserts, it is as popular as ever served with a choice of sauces.
YEAR 6 WARTIME HONEY BISCUITS
Year six researched different cooking methods.
They helped the school cook preparing the Christmas meal and serving to the children.
