Objectives

For pupils:

• Bring Europe and the European Community closer to the children, and introducing the European dimension into their education.

• Encourage reading as a source of pleasure, information and learning, as well as a source of linguistic (native and foreign language) and personal enrichment, thus contributing to the acquisition of reading as a habit.

• Learn about other cultures and customs, broadening their knowledge, understanding and recognizing the diversity of the world through storytelling from different countries.

For teachers:

Opening new horizons through contact with centres and teaching staffs from other countries.

Create a common corpus of materials and activities by exchanging information with all organizations forming part of the educational communities in our partner countries: parents, teachers, etc.

For parents:

Helping families to become more involved in school life, keeping them informed about the project and its progress, requesting their input on how to define and develop the project and asking for their help with the activities performed by the children.

Increase the families’ awareness of the importance of bringing back the oral tradition of telling stories.

All project activities are integrated into a specific area of the

curriculum in different schools, and are included in Learning Program

and the Annual General and Development Plan to Read.

Mother tongue : Promoting the reading of tales for pleasure, with activities that increase reading comprehension and written/oral expression.

Music: Setting the tales to music.

Visual Arts: Illustrating tales, decorating the school, etc.

Social and Natural Sciences: The geographic location, customs and traditions of the country where the tale takes place. Discover the others, rich in its differences, living in a new geographical space with whom it is going to become possible to share certain common point.

English: Oral adaptation of one of the tales. Linguistic exchange between the pupils (mails, emails, videos, blog, video conference).

French: Oral adaptation of one of the tales.

Physical Education: Learning the traditional games of the country or continent were the tale takes place.
