John 4:27-30 And at this point His disciples came, and they marveled that

He talked with a woman; yet no one said, "What do You seek?" or, "Why are You talking with her?" (28) The

woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, (29) "Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?" (30) Then they went out of the

city and came to Him.

COME AND SEE A MAN

COME SEE A MANA. Jesus was God but He was a man

1. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2. John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

3. Philippians 2:5-7 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, (6) who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, (7) but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.

B. What kind of man was Jesus?

I. A PHYSICAL MANA. A HUMBLE MAN

• Philippians 2:8-11 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. (9) Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, (10) that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, (11) and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

• Acts 8:32-33 The place in the Scripture which he read was this: "He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer is silent, So He opened not His mouth. (33) In His humiliation His justice was taken away, And who will declare His generation? For His life is taken from the earth."

B. A POOR MAN • 2 Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of our

Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet

for your sakes He became poor, that you

through His poverty might become rich.• Matthew 8:19-20 (19) Then a certain scribe came

and said to Him, "Teacher, I will follow You

wherever You go." (20) And Jesus said to him,

"Foxes have holes and birds of the air have

nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay

His head."

I. A PHYSICAL MANC. A WEARY MAN - John 4:5-6 So He

came to a city of Samaria which is called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. (6) Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.

D. A LONELY MAN • John 16:32 Indeed the hour is coming, yes,

has now come, that you will be scattered, each to his own, and will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.

• Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that is, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?"

Page 9: come and see a man

I. A PHYSICAL MANE. A HUNGRY MAN

• Luke 4:1-2 Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, (2) being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry.

• Matthew 4:1-2 (1) Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. (2) And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.

you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.

II. A SPIRITUAL MANA.A PRAYING MAN

• Luke 6:12 Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

• Matthew 14:23 And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there.

B.A MEDIATING MAN • 1 Timothy 2:5-6 For there is one God and one Mediator

between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, (6) who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,

• Hebrews 12:24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.

Page 12: come and see a man

II. A SPIRITUAL MANC. A SINLESS MAN

• 1. Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

• 2. 2 Corinthians 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

D. A COMPASSIONATE MAN• 1. Matthew 9:36 But when He saw the

multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.

you love one another as I have loved you. (13) Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.

• Ephesians 5:1-2 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. (2) And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

A. IMITATE THOSE WHO IMITATE JESUS - 1 Corinthians 11:1 Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.

B. WILLING TO SUFFER - 1 Peter 2:20-21 For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God. (21) For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:
