What is TS 007:2012?

TS 007 is the new Kitemarked security standard for replacement lock cylinders and protective door furniture.

Why TS 007:2012?

TS 007 is a Technical Specification created for the industry in response to the growing concerns that domestic homes are under threat from attacks due to the readily available information on the internet. Your cylinder at home needs to withstand 5 types of attack:

What’s different in TS 007:2012?

TS 007 does not cover just basic forms of cylinder attack but also includes attack testing on the protective door furniture. It uses a star rating for both the cylinder and door furniture.

What does TS 007:2012 cover?

TS 007 covers all aspects of attack tests on both cylinder and handles. It provides a mix and match option of door cylinders with protective door furniture when retrofitting and it allows the locksmith or security installer to achieve the required TS 007 3 star rating.

Who needs TS 007:2012?

TS 007 is aimed at the retrofit market UPVC and timber door market and anybody with a basic euro profile cylinder needs it. It is designed to offer similar levels of security found in complete door assemblies rated to PAS24 and complete lock assemblies rated to PAS and BS3621, 8621 and 10621.

How do I meet the TS 007:2012 standard?

There are two ways to meet the TS 007 standard:

Cylinders marked with 1 star + door furniture marked with 2 stars = 3 star rating.

Cylinders marked with 3 stars = 3 star rating.

How to upgrade to a BS Kitemarked cylinder...

Step 1 Remove your old euro cylinder from your door by simply un-screwing the fixing screw in the lock faceplate when the door is in the open position. Insert and turn the key 30° and remove cylinder from the door. For the thumbturn version turn thumbturn and remove cylinder.

Step 2 Measure the euro cylinder against the ruler on the right. Measure from the outside of the cylinder to the centre of the fixing hole and from the fixing hole to the inside of the cylinder (replace the cylinder).

Step 3 Choose your BS Kitemarked cylinder using the correct sizes you have measured previously.

Step 4 Install your new cylinder by removing the old one as in Step 1. Place the new euro cylinder through the door ensuring the special snap feature is facing the outside of the door.

Step 5 Secure the euro cylinder into position with the fixing screw provided, taking care not to over-tighten.
