Vahini
(A national level voluntary organization) in collaboration
with Delhi School of Social Work, University of Delhi organized a Youth Awareness Program
on Child Labor and Child Trafficking followed by the formation of Human Chain to protest
against Sex Trafficking of Children and Women on April 26, 2011 in the Arts Faculty of
University of Delhi.
More than 200 University students and 50 professionals of various fields joined hands in
the form of a human chain to combat human trafficking. As a part
of this program about
1000 petitions were signed in 2 hours!!
Objectives of the Program:
•To create awareness about the human trafficking issues among the
youths. •To discuss the trafficking of minor girls and women with special
reference to Sex trafficking. •To form a human chain to protest against Sex trafficking of children and women.•To get SST Petition signed.•To make youth population understand the issue, impact and magnitude of human trafficking by role
play.
The program was started by welcoming all the present gathering by Advocate Ravi
Kant, Supreme Court of India. The program was attended by the member of National Commission for Protection of Child
Rights, Department of Social work, Delhi University, NGOs, students and media.
As a part of this program a street Play was organized for creating the awareness to combat
Child Labor and Child Trafficking among the people. Street Play is the best suited to explain to
the target audience the kind of life a child labor is forced to lead and the hardships they face.
It highlighted the need for education to eradicate this crime.
More than 200 participants joined hands and promised to fight against human
trafficking.
