Comar Welcomes Winter

What a brilliant year it has been! We’ve welcomed so many incredibly talented artists and musicians to the island and our own Mull Theatre have taken shows to packed venues across Scotland, picking up fantastic reviews along the way.

We are delighted to have secured regular funding from Creative Scotland over the next three years. This security is great news for Mull, Argyll and the communities we visit across Scotland and we can’t wait to share our future plans with you.

We’re as busy as ever behind the scenes over winter. Both Druimfin and An Tobar remain open for events and classes and An Tobar café is the perfect place to warm up.

Happy festive season to you all and all the best for 2015.

Romeo & Juliet

By William ShakespeareDirected by Gordon Barr

Tue 17 Feb Druimfin 8pm £10/£8

An ancient feud between the Capulets and Montagues rips apart the city of Verona. When Romeo and Juliet meet and fall in love, they set in motion a chain of events that will ultimately destroy them. Bard in the Botanics retell Shakespeare’s enduring story through the eyes of a young generation struggling to make sense of their emotions in a world they haven’t created.

“ …has a violently youthful relevance for a new generation of 16 year-olds”

The Herald “ full of wit and understanding… this is a tale that never seems out of date”

“ It gives me a chance to have fun, increase my confidence and learn…”

“ Mull Youth Theatre allows me to be expressive and escape from every day life”

“ It has changed my life and shaped my future”

If you’re interested in taking part please email [email protected] or call 01688 302211 for more information.

For five years Mull Youth Theatre has o!ered children the opportunity to learn and grow in a fun environment.

The company currently has 42 members – 8–18 years old – and under the direction of Andi Stevens has performed a variety of productions, including A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Pan. They’ve performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and in bi-lingual co-productions with a French youth theatre company.

The young actors value the chance to work in a professional environment, to meet visiting artists and play small parts in professional productions. They gain a great insight into the range of roles in the theatre.

But most of all Mull Youth Theatre is about the buzz, the feeling and the fun. Here’s what some of its participants have to say:
