    Mission 11-20 and Multiplayer Tips

    Mission 11Into the Soup

    Objective: Destroy all four oil rigs on the map

    Team: Green Beret, Sniper, Sapper, Driver, Spy

    Phase 1: The Camp

    This is the most difficult phase in the mission. You must eliminate all enemies from this area. Use the

    Spy, who has a German uniform, to distract soldiers while the Green Beret uses the knife to kill all butthe patrol. Place an explosive barrel to the west of the barracks. As the patrol walks past, shoot the

    barrel with a pistol to blow up the patrol and the barracks. Hide the Green Beret. Several enemies will

    come to see what happened. The Spy must distract the new patrol and hold them in place while theGreen Beret places another barrel behind them. However, before blowing them up, get the rest of the

    team into the area.

    Phase 2: Access to the Drilling Sites

    Use the Sniper to take out the soldier on the ridge to the east of the barracks. Then hide in the little

    building near the gate. The Sapper should place a trap east of the water tower. Once everything is ready,shoot the barrel and blow up another patrol. Hide everyone again except for the Spy. Three or four

    soldiers will come to investigate. The trap should get one. Take the rest out by any means necessary,

    including pistols.

    Phase 3: Secure the Half-Track

    The Spy must now run through the enemy's lines, to the area where the half-track is parked. Distractthe soldiers there so the Green Beret can scale the ridge and clear the area. Also lure the soldier on the

    other side of the gate to his death.

    Phase 4: Wipe Out the Main Garrison

    The Sniper must crawl into the center area until he has a shot on both of the soldiers atop the barracks.Drop them both, then, when no one is looking, sneak the Driver over to the half-track. Drive it towards

    the barracks and use the machine-gun to eliminate all soldiers and reinforcements in the area.

    Phase 5: Blow the Rigs!

    The Spy must now distract the patrol in the northwest while the Sapper places explosives next to the

    two southern rigs as well as in the mouth of the tunnel to the north. Detonate the explosives all at once.Then drive the half-track up the road to the ridge overlooking the last two rigs. Kill all enemies along

    the way. Shoot at the fuel truck when it is between the two rigs and it will explode, taking the rigs with

    it. Pile everyone into the vehicle and drive off down the road to the west.

    Mission 12

    Up on the Roof

    Objective: Release the Informer and get him and the Commandos to the Kubelwagen which will take

    them to safety.

    Team: Green Beret, Sniper, Spy, Informer

    Phase 1: Get to the Rooftops

    This is another difficult mission. The Spy must begin by distracting the patrol so the Green Beret can

    kill the soldier patrolling near his hiding place, then hide the body and himself around the corner of thebuilding. The Spy must then kill the soldier near the stairs so the Green Beret can climb up and assist

    the Spy in killing the two soldiers up the stairs and the one under the arched balcony. Leave the

    standing soldier, overlooking the courtyard, for later.

    Phase 2: Clearing out the Northern Rooftops

    This phase is the most difficult. Climb the ladder to the top level in the north. Use the Spy to divert thesoldier near the ladder from looking at the ladder or the little house with the Sniper inside. Get the

    Green Beret in there, then the Sniper out to hide prone under the ledge to the west. Shoot the two

    closest soldiers, not including the one talking to the Spy. If any other come to investigate, take them outas well. Now crawl out to the east so you can shoot at the other three soldiers watching the courtyard

    from the top level. Finish off any remaining soldiers to complete this phase.Phase 3: Release the Prisoner

    The Spy must now get back to the first area and distract the remaining soldier overlooking the

    courtyard. When the patrol is not looking, the Green Beret can crawl down one of the ladders to kill thetwo guards above the jail. Now the Spy goes to distract the patrol in the courtyard while the Green

    Beret knifes the one the Spy was just with. Then get down to the jail and release the Informer. Get all

    Commandos back up to the rooftops.

    Phase 4: The Southeast Sector

    The Spy and the Green Beret must work together and use the decoy to clear out the southeast sector of

    the seven soldiers there. While this will require some patience and timing, it is not very difficult.

    Phase 5: Clearing out the Mosque

    This phase depends on the Spy's skills. He must eliminate all enemy's on the mosque. Start with the

    soldier in the northwest. His body will usually bring a few others over to take a look. Kill them as well.Then finish mopping up the remainder.

    Phase 6: The Getaway

    Now the Spy must kill the soldiers on the ground level in the west and distract the patrol so the

    remainder of the Commandos can make their way to the alley in the east. When the patrol is headed

    west, get all of your men into the Kubelwagen and to safety.

    Mission 13

    David and Goliath

    Objective: Sink the Bismarck II and destroy the fuel tanks

    Team: Green Beret, Sniper, Marine, Sapper, Driver

    Phase 1: The Southern Jetty

    Get the Marine into the water. When the gate is opened for the boat, swim through before it closes.

    Climb up the western ramp and kill the soldier there. The Green Beret can now climb up the eastern

    side with the pick and kill the four soldiers posted there. Before returning to the water, the Marine

    should open the gate.

    Phase 2: The Central Docks

    The Marine should now swim over to the ramp near the truck and kill the two soldiers there. Then pickup the Green Beret and row him to this ramp. Hide the boat to the east of the ramp. While the Marine

    swims to the ramp of the central dock on the west side, the Green Beret must crawl to the soldier on the

    end of the dock on the east side. Knife him when no one is looking, then crawl back to the ramp nearthe boat. The Marine can then pop up and kill the guards on his side with the pistol.

    Phase 3: Eliminating the Patrol

    The is the most difficult part of the mission. The Driver must move the truck so it is in front of the

    garage. Then the Sniper must take a prone position between the garage and the crane, along the

    southern edge of the dock. He must wait for the patrol to turn around and head north. Kill the rearsoldier first, followed by the other two. Timing is crucial and it may take a few tries to get it right. Then

    the Green Beret can knife anyone who comes to investigate.

    Phase 4: Kill the Rest of the GuardsUse the Sniper to kill the soldier by the northern gatehouse. Then quickly send the Marine and Green

    Beret to finish off the rest. The truck must be carefully positioned on the central docks as shown in theillustration. The Sapper can then place the explosive next to the fuel tanks. Now get everyone in the

    boat and row them to the western side of the southern jetty.

    Phase 5: Destruction and Escape

    The Driver should man the coastal gun while the Marine gets in the mini sub. Fire the torpedo at the

    bow of the battleship, then sail the sub over to the nearby dock and get back into the water. Swim to theboat. The Sapper detonates the explosive and the Driver sinks the patrol boat when it appears from the

    southwest. The truck will only block the tank for so long, so get the boat of Commandos out to sea.

    Mission 14

    D-Day Kick Off

    Objective: Destroy all four coastal guns

    Team: Green Beret, Sniper, Marine, Sapper, Driver

    Phase 1: The Landing

    This is a large mission with more than fifty German soldiers. The Marine must take out the patrol near

    the beach one soldier at a time, ducking back into the water after the first kill. Use the pistol if

    necessary. Land your troops, then send the Green Beret to kill the soldier on the ridge while the Sapperuses the trap on the other patrol to take them out individually.

    Phase 2: The First Gun Emplacement

    You must now clear the area around the first gun emplacement. Lure as many soldiers as possible to

    kill them in the first area. The Sniper can take out the soldier atop the emplacement, while the Sapperand Green Beret get the rest. Always check to see who can see you before you kill somebody. There are

    a lot of eyes in this area. The Sapper can place an explosive near the front of the emplacement when all

    is clear.

    Phase 3: The Eastern Sector

    There are more than twenty soldiers in this area. Take out the soldier on the ridge and the machine-

    gunners first. Start clearing in the south and then work your way north. The key is to stay out of the

    patrol's sight so they do not sound an alarm. Place explosives next to each of the emplacements.

    Phase 4: The Northern Sector

    Start by killing the two soldiers east of the barracks. Then send the Marine swimming to the northwestcorner. He then makes his way towards the tank and kills the soldiers near it, without being discovered.

    Move east along the ridge to hide behind the crates. Position the Sniper northwest of the barracks, so he

    is hidden from the view of the enemy on the beach. The Marine kills the soldier closest to him, andreturns behind the crates. The Sniper then kills everyone he can target between the barracks and the

    tank, before crawling back to hide with the rest of the Commandos in the little gap on the east side of

    the barracks. One of the patrols will sound the alarm, so have the Sapper detonate the explosives.

    Phase 5: Armored Mayhem

    If you are well hidden, the reinforcements will pass by you. When the coast is clear, send the Driveralong the ridge to the tank. Hop in and kill all the enemies in sight. Use explosive barrels to destroy the

    last gun emplacement, then get all of your troops into the tank and back to the boat.

    Mission 15

    The End of the Butcher

    Objective: Kill the SS Grupenfuhrer and destroy the headquarters building

    Team: Sniper, Marine, Driver, Spy

    Phase 1: Crossing the River

    The Spy must clear the area south of the river pretty much by himself. The Marine can help by taking

    out the soldier who patrols the stairs to the river. Be careful, there are several patrols which can seeacross this large open area. Avoid the patrols and kill only the individual soldiers in this area.

    Phase 2:Getting the Uniform

    Hide the Spy behind the fence on the northwest side of the river. When no one is looking, run to the

    ladder and climb it to get the uniform. Then kill the soldiers in the immediate area. Leave the bodies

    except for the one on the street. While no one can see the other bodies, you must be careful that no onesees you make the kills, especially when you kill the soldier on top of the building. Get all of your

    Commandos to the building near the fuel truck.

    Phase 3: Setting up for the Kill

    Send the Spy into the rear area of the headquarters. Kill the guard by the gate to the road and hide thebody around the corner so the patrol in the parking area does not see it. Next, kill the individual soldierin the cemetery. After killing the guards near the hiding building, send the Sniper to kill all three

    soldiers in the patrol behind the headquarters. Be sure to save the last bullet for the SS officer.

    Meanwhile, the sniper must distract the patrol in the west while they are near the fountain. Finally, theDriver moves the fuel truck and parks it just inside the gate to the headquarters before crawling over to

    the truck in the cemetery.

    Phase 4: The Kill

    When the cemetery patrol moves away, hop into the truck and drive it over to the hiding spot. Position

    the Sniper where the fuel truck had been parked so he has a good shot at the front gate near the black

    car. Now send the Spy running back to the truck. The Marine should run out to the truck as well, but

    pause to fire a pistol shot in the air to sound an alarm. The fuel truck will explode when reinforcements

    pour out the headquarters rear door. With his main escape route cut off, the SS officer will head to theblack car in front. Drop him with the Sniper's last bullet, then get him on the truck and everyone to

    safety down the road to the northwest.

    Mission 16

    Stop Wildfire

    Objective: Kill all German Sappers before they can blow the bridge over the river Maas.

    Team: Sniper, Marine, Spy

    Phase 1: The Train Station

    This mission requires a great deal of timing. All three Commandos begin in the northeast corner of the

    map. The Spy alone will have to kill the four soldiers near the train station and the three around the

    building to the south near the road.Phase 2: Acquire a German Uniform

    The uniform is on a clothesline near the eastern map edge. Kill the soldier near the road, then grab the

    uniform when no one is looking. Now eliminate the individual soldiers in the area and hide their

    bodies.

    Phase 3: The Sappers must Die

    Send the Spy across the bridge as the Marine hits the water and the Sniper follows the road south which

    was just cleared by the Spy. Crawl to the southern map edge, then west a bit until you can target the

    area near the barrels. Kill all four soldiers in the patrol as they pass south of the barrels. Shoot fast, but

    save a bullet for later. Then crawl forward so he can target the area in front of the pillbox. The Marinemust swim down to the little island under the bridge and wait in the inlet near the detonator. The Spy

    can then poison the sapper on the west shore when no one is looking. Put the syringe away and switch

    to the Sniper. Drop the second sapper as he walks past the pillbox. Drop prone and switch to theMarine. Shoot the last two sappers with the pistol as they head to the detonator, then get back in the

    water and swim to the southeast shore.

    Phase 4: The Getaway

    The Spy must kill all the individual soldiers on the eastern side of the bridge and distract the patrol sothe Marine can make it to the truck. Then get everyone aboard and it will take them to safety.

    Mission 17

    Before Dawn

    Objective: Free Claude Gilbert and his four collaborators and get them all to safety.

    Team: Green Beret, Marine, Spy

    Phase 1: The Mobile Bridge

    Send the Spy in uniform through the prison yard to the mobile bridge. Slide it across so the Green Beret

    the team across the river to the east edge of the island.

    Phase 4: The German Camp

    The Sapper must carefully crawl towards the encampment. Hide behind the tent in the northeast and

    throw the last grenade at the patrol when it is walking past the soldier at the other end of the tent. It will

    kill all five soldiers. Stay put and prone behind the tent and the soldiers coming to investigate will notsee you. The Green Beret must now move up and kill the next four soldiers in the camp while the

    Marine swims up behind the soldier near the bridge and shoots him with the spear gun. The Green

    Beret must wait until the half-track exits the map, then kill the two soldiers on the way to the tank. Getthe Driver inside and let the fun begin.

    Phase 5: Blow the Bridge

    The Driver in the tank must first destroy the half-track and the pillbox. Wipe out all enemies on this

    side of the bridge as well as those on the island in the middle of the river. Row the Sapper to the island

    to pick up the explosives and then climb onto the bridge from the west side. Place the explosives atnear each of the three boxes on the bridge, then return to the west side and blow the bridge. Get all of

    the Commandos back across the river by having the Marine row them across in the northern part of the

    map. Then head down the east bank, taking out any enemies you come across. Use the Sapper's last

    grenade to take out the pillbox and the nearby patrol. Clear out the area around the truck, then geteveryone aboard and drive it off the map along the road to the east.

    Mission 19

    Frustrate Retaliation

    Objective: Destroy all three V2 rockets and their launch pads

    Team: Green Beret, Sniper, Marine, Sapper

    Phase 1: The Coal Mine

    While there are a lot of enemies on this map, you need only kill about two-thirds of them. The Green

    Beret must kill the first two to the west of your starting position so the Sniper can crawl out and shoot

    the soldier atop the entrance to the mine. Then the Green Beret and Marine can finish off the other sixin this area, with a little help from the Sapper and his trap. Be careful around the tank in the shed. It is

    active and will shoot at anything moving across its field of view.

    Phase 2:Clearing the Path to the Bridge

    Continue advancing south in the west. Kill the two soldiers south of the crates. The Sniper must shootall three soldiers in the patrol near the river. The soldier near the machine-gun by the river will see the

    bodies. The Green Beret can knife him as the Marine swims up to the machine-gun and spears the

    gunner when no one is looking.

    Phase 3: Down by the River

    Now send the Marine to the Southwest corner to kill the five soldiers and guard dog there. You must dothis silently to avoid setting off an alarm in the main base.

    Phase 4: Getting into the Base

    Get all of your Commandos to the bridge and across. Set an explosive in the middle of the bridge. But

    do not blow it until later. Clear the area outside the southwestern part of the base. The Sniper must

    shoot the dog so the Green Beret can scale the wall and change the direction of the conveyor belt. Put

    the rest of the team on the belt and they will be automatically carried into the base. Kill all of the

    soldiers in this corner of the base.

    Phase 5: Destroy the V2s

    Next kill the three soldiers in the southeastern part of the base while avoiding the patrol outside. Blow

    the bridge across the river now. Clear out the northern part of the base, then bring up the Sniper toshoot the soldier in the northeast corner of the map. Place an explosive barrel next to each of the V2s

    and one next to the western corner of the southern barracks. If you place a barrel between the northern

    barracks and the eastern V2, you can take both out in one explosion. The Green Beret and Marine mustwork together to shoot all of the barrels. Be sure to hit the ones near the barracks before too many

    reinforcements come out. Those who do, will be killed by the blast. Hide everyone until the patrol goes

    back to its post, then sneak everyone out the south gate. Move along the river. The Sapper must blow

    up the tower in the north with his last explosive. Then get everyone in the boat and up the river tosafety.

    Mission 20

    Operation Valhalla

    Objective: Blow up the headquarters in Gundelfingen Castle as well as both V2 missiles

    Team: Green Beret, Sniper, Marine, Sapper, Driver, Spy

    Phase 1: Over the Wall

    This is the most difficult mission in the game and you will need all six Commandos to complete it. Be

    sure to save early and often. The Commandos begin separated. Send the Green Beret up the wall in the

    west. Kill the two guards by the wall and the one on top of the headquarters. Scale down the interiorwall along the outer wall and kill three more soldiers. Remember to crawl everywhere unless you must

    get somewhere quickly and can do so unseen.

    Phase 2: A Stroll around the Outer Wall

    Make your way along the outer wall, killing the soldiers by the two gates, but not the two in the

    southern corner. Then kill three more soldiers on the eastern part of the wall. When moving along thewalls, stay towards the outside edge or soldiers inside may see you.

    Phase 3: The Firing Range

    When nobody is looking, climb down the ladder to the firing range, and kill the three soldiers near the

    outer wall. Hide the bodies by the ladder and open the water gate to let the Marine inside. Kill all of thesoldiers in the firing range area except for the one at the far west end. He is seen by others, so you will

    have to kill him later. Instead, place the decoy to the east of him. Move the Green Beret next to the

    southeastern gate and when no one is looking, activate the decoy. It will distract the soldier just long

    enough for you to run across and hide in the southern sector. This will only work once, so get it rightthe first time.

    Phase 4: Enter the Spy

    Follow the wall around to the other gate without begin seen. Silently kill the three soldiers in the

    southern part of the western sector. Hide their bodies by the door of the western building. Then kill thefour soldiers guarding the gate, one at a time, disposing of their bodies in the same place. When the

    gate is clear, get the spy inside and to the uniforms when no one is looking. Now clear out the

    remainder of the area. A few soldiers from the headquarters area may see bodies and come down to

    investigate. Kill them quickly.

    Phase 5: The Headquarters

    Send the Spy up the stairs to kill all of the soldiers near the headquarters. Then get both Commandos

    back to the firing range where they must clear the southeast gate of guards and get the rest of the team

    inside the castle.

    Phase 6: Get to the TankThe hardest part of the mission requires you to kill all of the soldiers in the northern part of the map,without an alarm being raised. While the Spy and Green Beret do this, send the Sapper along the other

    wall to place the explosive near the headquarters. When all is clear, the Sniper must kill the gunner

    overlooking the courtyard. Now get the Driver to the tank.

    Phase 7: Endgame

    This is the easiest phase because you now control a tank. Blow up the V2s and everything else moving

    inside the castle. Blow the HQ, then get the entire team aboard the tank and drive it out the western

    gate to safety.

    Multiplayer Tips

    In Commandos, you play as a team with other players. Each takes control of one or more Commandos

    during one of the twenty missions. The key to this type of game is communication and cooperation. At

    the beginning, designate a leader for the team and divide up responsibilities. It is usually a good idea toassign Commandos who will be working together a lot, such as the Spy and Green Beret, to different

    players. While one is distracting soldiers, the other can be killing them. In some cases, players can be

    accomplishing different tasks at the same time while on opposite sides of the map. Mission 7: Chase ofthe Wolves and Mission 16: Strop Wildfire are especially good for multiplayer since players can work

    independently for part of the mission, then must work together to complete it.

    Cheat Codes

    Commandos is a very tough game, even when you have the perfect strategy. There may be times when

    you need a little edge to get through an area.

    In order to activate the cheats, you must first type 1982gonzo while in the game. Then use the

    following codes to activate the cheats of your choice.

    Invincible: CTRL-X

    This prevents any of your Commandos from taking damage or using up disposable weapons such as

    grenades or sniper rounds.

    Teleport: SHIFT-X

    The selected Commando (or group) will teleport to the location of the cursor when the above code is

    pressed.

    Finish Mission: CTRL-SHIFT-N

    This code will end the current mission successfully and let you advance to the next mission in the

    campaign.

    To go to a specific mission, enter a number in the PASSWORD selection equal to the number of the

    mission minus one. For example, if you want to get to Mission 15. You would enter 14 in the

    PASSWORD selection.
