Q: Can you tell us a little about yourself? A: I’ve always worked in the automotive industry in one capacity or another, from auto parts Store Manager to technician for Shelby Motorsports to Buyer/New Product Development at Danchuk. I enjoy all kinds of cars and car shows and events. In fact you may have seen some of my social media posts for Danchuk working various car shows with my wife, Sharon. Car shows are something we really enjoy doing together and always meet amazing people at the events we do. Q: What’s your favorite Tri-Five model?A: ‘56 Chevy’s are my personal favorite especially the 2-Door Sedans and 4-Door Hardtops, but I’m also a sucker for a ‘57 150 Station Wagon. Q: What areas of the TRI-FIVES are you most knowledgeable?A: I have always gravitated towards suspension and brake upgrades as well as LS engine conversions, but the latest thing I’ve gotten into are EFI conversions.

Q: What is the most common misunderstanding owners have about their TRI-FIVES?A: Trim levels and the difference between hardtop (no post) and sedans (post). This is probably the most commonly misunderstood Tri-Five concept that we see almost daily. We want to make sure that our customers are ordering the correct parts so it’s crucial to understand whether you have a hardtop or sedan. The original specifications section of our catalog includes diagrams that help to explain models and trim levels.

The Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals is an event like none other! Nearly 3,000 registrants from all 50 states, Canada, and countries around the world brought thousands of amazing 1955-56-57 Chevrolets to Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky for an extraordinary and memorable weekend.

The fun started on Thursday with a Tri-Five Custom Build Showcase, the model car contest and parking lot party with live music and hundreds of Tri-Fives in the Holiday Inn parking lot. The Danchuk Team arrived before sunup early Friday morning to the front gate so that they could greet each Tri-Five owner with a smile and a Danchuk Goodie Bag. It was fun to be able to meet each person as they entered the event! Thousand of Tri-Fives were parked over acres and acres of the lush, green fields of Beech Bend.

It was a sight to behold. One amazing Tri-Five after another. Some original, some restored, some with mild modifications, and some with radical modifications, and each one with its own individually unique story. It was awe-inspiring to hear the owners share the details of the hard work, time and sacrifices required to complete each project…each one built and/or preserved with pride.

Danchuk was excited to have Sweet Patina parked next to our booth. Sweet Patina, owned by Blake Evans, is the ’57 Wagon we featured earlier this year that is being driven on a 48-state road trip to raise awareness and money for ALS research. Go to Sweetpatina.com for info.

A SHOW LIKE NO OTHER!

Danchuk operated a Merchandise Booth at the Danchuk Tri-Five Nation-als for the first time this year. It was fun to meet and chat with so many great people at the booth. Show attendees were the first to be able to purchase our newly designed tee shirts, bandanas, and metal shop/man cave signs (now available on page 14). Show goers also were able to enter our raffle for pairs of YETI cups and a VIP trip to next years Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals.

Over 1,000 people entered our drawing, and we enjoyed giving away pairs of exclusive Danchuk YETI brand tumblers to our lucky winners, Paul Jackson, Gary Terbell, Keith Dukes and Anne Elam. We also gave away a 2020 Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals VIP Experi-ence. Nick Parojcic of Valpraiso, Indiana won VIP admission for two people/one car to the 2020 Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals, 3-nights hotel accommodations, a $1,000 travel voucher and cool Danchuk swag! 6TH ANNUAL TRI-FIVE NATIONALS HAPPENING AUGUST 13-15, 2020 - YOU WON’T WANT TO MISS IT!!

Frank Correia and Mike Martin made themselves available for technical questions throughout the event, and enjoyed working through a multitude of chal-lenging issues with so many of the Tri-Five owners and builders. Danchuk also unveiled the newly produced 1955 Chrome Grille in Bowling Green. This is a great example of what our master crafts-men create here at Danchuk, and we believe this is the nicest 1955 Grille ever produced. And that is what Danchuk exists for…to pro-vide the highest quality Made in the USA parts for Tri-Five Chevrolets so that these wonderful classics can continue to be restored, built and enjoyed for generations to come.


Aubrey King’s beautiful red ’56 2-Door Sedan was also at the event and will be shown and written about in the coming months. Like so many of the Tri-Fives in Bowling Green, this ‘56 was just recently rebuilt with hundreds of Made in the USA Danchuk parts.

The drag strip was busy both days with fun runs throughout each day, as well as 200+ MPH exhibition runs and more. It was amazing to see so many vintage Tri-Five Gassers and drag cars in one place at one time!The Top 25 cars were chosen and parked in a special parking area on Saturday. Each of these Tri-Fives were extraordinary in their own way, and the Top 5 were chosen out of this group and invited to the starting line at the end of Saturday. Kevin Guidry’s 1956 Hardtop was chosen as the 2019 American Tri-Five Association’s Tri-Five of the Year. Congratulations Kevin!

Danchuk was proud to have its very own Christine Danchuk at the starting line for the closing festivities. Christine shared Danchuk’s love and apprecia-tion for all of the Tri-Five owners and enthusiasts in attendance, and chose the winner for the 2020 Danchuk VIP Experience. The Danchuk VIP Experience was won by Nick Parojcic of Valparaiso, Indiana. This was Nick’s 4th trip to the Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals and he’s looking forward to sharing the VIP Experience next year with his wife. His prize includes a $1,000 travel voucher, hotel accomodations, VIP admission and exclusive Danchuk Swag. He hopes his ‘57 Bel Air sedan will be ready to make the trip.

Christine also shared in the celebrations as Rusty and Cindy Kanoski from Monee, Illinois won the 2019 Golden Star Giveaway Car, a beauti-ful silver 1956 Chevrolet Convertible. This is the 5th year Kanoski’s traveled to the Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals. They are the proud own-ers of two Tri-Fives, a 1955 Bel Air that has been modified into an El Camino, or as it’s better known a BelCamino and a 1955 210 sedan. They spent the entire day Friday at the show, but because it was so hot Saturday they decided to take it easy and only go for the afternoon. After spending most of the day checking out Bowling Green, they questioned whether they should go back to the heat of the show or just move on . . . . . Mr. Kanoski told his wife “If I don’t go back, I’ll regret it” and boy was his intuition spot on! Congratulation to the Kanoski’s . . . Woody’s Hot Rodz did an amazing job building this car! Take a look at the 2020 Golden Star Giveaway car just unveiled by the American Tri-Five Association for the 6th Annual Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals that could be yours if you’re there . . . . For five years running, Golden Star Classic Auto Parts has sponsored a Giveaway car at the Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals. Designed and built by renowned car builder and founder of the Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals, Chris Sondles of Woody’s Hot Rodz in Bright, Indiana, each of the Golden Star Giveaway cars has been completely differ-ent from the next. Sondles likes to feature products from various vendors, different Chevrolet Performance engines and different styles so the cars range from mild to wild from one year to the next with this year’s car being no exception. The two constants every year are the cars feature an all new Woody’s Hot Rodz built body and a ton of Danchuk parts from bumper to bumper. The 2019 Golden Star Giveaway car will be hard to follow, but the team has done it again! The Chevrolet Performance LS3 provided by Rinke Performance will give this beauty a ton of power when needed.
