Volume 56 No. 1 July-August 2015 Our 91st Year
Brothers: 7/2/15
As we start a new fraternal year I am happy to accept this highly
sought after position to be your Grand Knight. As you all may know I
have been very active in the life of St. Ignatius Parish. I have learned a
lot about Church organizations and various ministries but this is
different. I have always thought of myself as a knight and conducted my
tasks accordingly hoping to bring light in what I do and promote
Columbianism.
Over the years while attending the meetings and helping in the
many activities of Our Council I have witnessed the many changes of the
membership and the many Grand Knights that have given of themselves for the Good of the Order. Some were
very charismatic personalities and able to gain the cooperation of the membership and its officers. Others were
of different personalities. They too gave of themselves for the good of the Order and contributed to the whole.
I have seen great strides in the daily operation of this council’s Kenny Club and the turning around of its
financial difficulties and the many improvements to our facility. I could not be thankful enough to those who
gave and continue to give their time, talent and many sacrifices. I am proud to be here and stand with them and
in the coming year.
There are many members in our community of Hicksville who are brother Knights and are involved in our
community of Hicksville. It is my prayer and hope that they too will attend our meetings and help to build up
the active membership of our council for the benefit of all.
The C&B program is underway for 2015-2016. Last year Tom Gill PGK did very well on our C&B
program so well in fact that I have asked him to continue his expertise with the C&B Campaign. In addition,
our up & coming street fair, on the town square in Hicksville, will give us the opportunity to gain new members
for the council and to sell our C&B chances. Please check for dates and times on C&B program events.
In closing, I do not believe for a minute that I would accept this position if it was not for my brother
officers and knights who have given to me the support, encouragement and expertise of their talents practical
savvy & know-how. The values of the gifts and talents given here are invaluable to the lifeblood of all.
Vivat Jesu

Think you are too old for coverage? Maybe not
You are never too young or too old to
consider purchasing life insurance. If you have a
financial need for coverage, or will in the future,
a permanent life insurance policy can be just the
thing you need. When you are young and
presumably healthy, coverage will be very
inexpensive when compared to purchasing the
same policies when you are older.
If you’ve put off purchasing coverage, or you
realize that you may need additional insurance,
the Order may still be able to help you, even if
other companies cannot. In fact, in 2012, the
issue age of our permanent life insurance
products was extended to age 80. Naturally,
your health, and whether or not you smoke, will
be taken into consideration, so underwriting
standards for risk and age apply.
This change came in response to a question
I’ve heard before: “My wife and I are almost 80,
do the Knights offer anything to take care of our
final expenses?” And it can also help the
members who thought they were “too old” to
attain our coverage.
This extension of our coverage ages allows
me to help members I couldn’t help before. I look
forward to discussing coverage with you.
