Introduction Backpainted glass provides a sustainable, durable and stylish design solution, perfectly suited to a wide variety of interior glass.
ColourX backpainted glass comes in almost any colour you desire, making it a fully customisable and visually striking surface that is hygienic and easy to maintain - ideal for high traffic areas such as lift lobbies, tea points and kitchen splashbacks.
Our ColourX system can be combined with other products and processes such as digital printing and magnetic glass. The glass can also be pre-processed for fittings or fixing with internal or external cut outs for sockets, urinals, WCs.

In specifying ColourX you get peace of mind that it is not only long-lasting, but also that the product will work with the lifecycle of the building as it will never need to be replaced and is fully recyclable.
Gx Glass also offer a survey and installation process for all our glass, from lift lobbies to splashbacks and we can work with you on your fit-out schedule to ensure your project is completed on time and on budget.

and delamination, when supplied and
installed by Gx Glass (subject to T&Cs).
ManufactureDepending on the volumes of glass being painted, specialist water-based glass paints are applied to the glass using either a spray or roller coating method. The end-to-end process is managed in-house, providing peace of mind that your glass is under our complete control.
ColourX has a dedicated paint sample library and quality control process, so all painted panels produced over the course of a project are of a consistent shade. We use a unique digital scanning technology to create an approved control colour sample to match against. This is kept on file for any future work requiring the same colour.
5x STRONGER
Colours and finishesColourX paint is available in standard, metallic and sparkle finishes and it is applied to low iron extra clear glass as standard. This glass is practically colourless, making it the perfect glass for delivering true colour.
Our in-house paint process provides flexibility to choose your own colour, either from an established colour system or using colour-scanning technology to match a specific colour sample.

PROTOTYPING
• On large or complex projects we recommend using our Gx Bespoke Service to prototype samples for sign-off and final approval.
RECOMMENDED USES
• ColourX is intended for internal use only.• ColourX is suitable for use in kitchens, bathrooms and washrooms when edges are fully sealed.
• ColourX normally has a 2mm gap all round ready to accept the final silicon pointing, which is carried out once all other trades have completed their work, this is to avoid any contamination of the final pointing works, before it has set.
• ColourX corner details can be overlapped or mitred.

Please ensure that all proofs are final, that text is converted to vector outlines and any compound paths or clipping masks have been applied and expanded where necessary.

Cleaning and aftercareWith ColourX and all other types of glass panel any spillages and stains should be cleaned off immediately to avoid permanent marking of the glass.
In most cases glass can be washed using just plenty of clean water. Sometimes a bit of mild, neutral detergent or a dedicated glass cleaner can be used, and this can be a commercial glass cleaner.
The recommended cleaning materials are either a soft paper wipe or lint-free cloth, both of which should be new.
To avoid scratching the glass surface no abrasive materials should be used. Do not try to remove marks or debris while the glass is dry.
When removing fat or greasy streaks (e.g. fingerprints), the cleaning agents should always be applied onto the full glass surface.
Ensure any cleaning product is wiped off straight away - it should not be left to dry on the glass and care should be taken to prevent the cleaning product from running over the edges of the glass and into the gaps around it, as this can damage the seals or the painted side of the glass.

Fixing requirements
• ColourX can be dry fitted with screw fixings or with ‘J’ trims.
• ColourX can be supplied with infills for use with socket cut outs.

Gx Glass recognises the importance of meeting client requirements regarding product quality and the possible impact on the environment.
Our ColourX paints are water-based with very low VOC levels and are also extensively tested for adhesion and longevity. ColourX and CeramX-Digital are both inert once cured to the glass, so there are no hazards to the environment when it is recycled. Our metal backing for the MagnX range is also fully recyclable at the end of its life.
Our pallets and wooden stillages are made from sustainably sourced wood and can be returned to us for re-use.
