international Limagrain group, offers proven
and dependable products that reflect its
expertise as the leading flower seed breeder
and producer in Europe.
Tézier, straightfrom the producer
Created nearly 220 years ago, Tézier is the No.1 French specialist in flower seed breeding and production. In producing its
seeds, Tézier controls the entire chain from production, to quality control and the professional grade packaging.
The seeds are produced with great care, mainly in the Loire
Valley, Dauphiné and Provence areas of France.
The grains are graded and cleaned in our processing centre in
Valence in the French county of la Drôme.
Our entire production is checked in Valence, not only to
eliminate unwanted weeds or pathogenic agents, but also to
ensure that the mixtures are balanced and reliable.
Germination is also checked by our laboratory ensuring
compliance with international standards (ISTA standards).
Our seeds are packaged in 400g metal cans (a sufficient
quantity for an area of 200m2 to 300m2) or in 4kg bags.
This professional grade packaging is designed to guarantee
optimum preservation of the seeds which are living products
and require careful storage.

Over the last few years, our Colour Splash mixtures have
started to be used on many different sites in the UK, to
the delight of everyone. The mixtures have been used
in a broad range of landscape and amenity areas. The
development of the mixtures started over ten years ago in the
county of Loir-et-Cher, in the centre of France.
Colour Splash mixtures meet the numerous expectations of the
public who enjoy seeing a dash of colour, but their effect on the
landscape is the most obvious one. For wildlife, they can provide a
refuge that offers a rich and varied source of food.
When sown strategically near municipal sites and landscape areas,
our Colour Splash mixtures represent a remarkably simple way of
brightening up such locations and enhancing their aesthetic
appeal to the general public.
For bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects, they are a
source of pollen and nectar - sometimes very useful when other
resources are rare.
Benefits of Colour Splash:
• Only flowers (no forages, grasses)
• Very easy to sow in the spring
• Vigorous plants, capable of competing with weeds
• Fast flowering and as long-lasting as possible
• Well balanced and successional flowering
• Robust plants, capable of resisting a reasonable period of drought
• Cost effective
• Possible to hand weed

The Honey Bee mixture is composed of flowering plants for
landscaping which will attract insects.
This mixture was created after a systematic study was carried
out in 2004 and 2005 on the nectar and pollen characteristics
of the 400 species and varieties from our portfolio. It is
therefore perfect for attracting pollinating insects whilst
beautifying the countryside.
In addition to species that have been recognised for a long
time for their melliferous character, such as Borage or
Cornflower, other species such as Cosmos Sulphureus, Godetia
or Rudbeckia are included in the mixture.
• Borago Officinalis
• Centaurea Cyanus
• Clarkia Elegans
• Cosmos Bipinnatus
• Cosmos Sulphureus

Celebration is a mixture made up of flowers such as
Cornflower and Poppy, which were once found in abundance in
traditional cornfields, in the days before the widespread use of
herbicides became commonplace.
Harvest plants; Vipers Bugloss and Yarrow are still present
along our pathways. Celebration is a rich mixture, mid-height
and perfect for creating a pastoral environment. This mixture
flowers particularly quickly, only 50 days after germination.
Due to the presence of perennials and spontaneous re-seeding
of some annuals, the area may be maintained without re-
seeding for two or three seasons under the right management.

Height: 0.5m - 0.8m
Flowering: from mid-June to end of September the first year, then from April to July the following years
Advantages: provides many benefits for the fauna and soil, lasts 2 to 3 years
Packaging options: 1kg or 4kg bags
This mid-height, very rich mixture was designed to attract
butterflies, pollinating insects and in general, small
invertebrate or vertebrate fauna.
Predatory insects will find food and water and will provide a
food source for many vertebrates.
Biodiversity contains useful plants which act on the soil: the
roots of these plants promote the micro fauna, soil aeration
and the decomposition of organic matter. The inclusion of
lupins in the mixture will enrich soil fertility because these
plants are leguminous and have the ability to ‘fix’ nitrogen
from the atmosphere.
Biodiversity contains:
1. White Yarrow - Achillea Millefolium
2. Large Green Basil - Ocimum Basilicum
3. Mixed California Poppy - Eschscholzia Californica
4. Mixed Double Barbeau Cornflower - Centaurea Cyanus

When to sow Colour SplashSowing should primarily take place in spring as the soil must
be warm enough to promote seed germination, although it is
difficult to give an optimal date. Keep in mind that it is
possible to sow seeds at the end of March or beginning of
April but late spring frosts should be avoided. Sowing may be
undertaken until the end of May.
Where to sow Colour SplashColour Splash mixtures can be planted on a wide
range of sites and areas. Take a look at page 14 to
see where Colour Splash mixtures have recently been
used successfully.
Which type of land should notbe used for Colour Splash?Avoid using land that is completely shaded or
covered by trees. Most species used in the mixures
need full-sun, or at least half-sun. Although the
flowers used in the Colour Splash mixtures are
resistant to drought, the plants will not survive in
extreme conditions if the soil cannot retain water
sufficiently. Finally, all plots that are susceptible to
being overtaken by weeds should be avoided, such
as landfills, farm land with a history of weeds and
old vacant land.
How to prepare soil for Colour SplashSoil preparation is a critical step. Under no
circumstances should the seed be sown on an area that
is already covered (lawn, etc.). The seed needs to be in
contact with the soil and lightly covered in order to
germinate. In most cases, it is necessary to work the
soil and prepare a seedbed before sowing seeds.
How to sow Colour Splash seedsKeep seeds in their original packaging at normal temperatures
(5°C to 20°C) until planting day - the packaging is specifically
designed to keep the seeds well preserved. Before sowing,
shake the can or bag in order to mix the seeds well. During the
entire sowing period, whether it is done manually or with a
machine, continue to mix the seeds in order to have a
homogenous distribution of plants. The sowing method
depends on the area to be planted.
For small areas (a few hundred m2 ) hand sowing is the best
option. Mix the seeds with sand or similar material at a ratio of
3 parts inert material for 1 part flower seeds. Sowing with a
hand seed drill is also possible.
For larger surfaces (several thousand m2 or more) it may be
wise to use mechanised sowing.
Using a micro-granule or fertiliser applicator is quite possible.
Ensure that the seeds are lightly covered - a suitable roller can
be used to provide adequate contact with the soil.
Sowing with a seed drill has many advantages: the seeds are
buried and packed down, which promotes germination. As some
flower seeds are small and need to be buried in very shallow seed
beds (0.5cm), seed drills used typically for grass can be useful.
What is the sowing rate forColour Splash?2g/m2 gives excellent results.
How to maintain Colour SplashColour Splash mixtures require very little
maintenance. These flowers do not need to be
watered, fertilised or treated with pesticides. On the
contrary, the objective is to let them live freely; the
flowers and their small associated ecosystem will
establish themselves.
13
Colour Splash mixtures can be used in a wide variety ofsituations, these include:
• Flower beds
• Home gardens
• Roadside verges & roundabouts
• Landscape areas
• Schools & universities
• Golf courses
• Caravan & camping sites
