How it worksPermaTint® utilizes a brick tinting technique developed in Europe that has been successfully used for over fifty years. European Heritage Boards have approved this technique for use on heritage sites and have recognized its superior chemical formulation in the creation of seamless masonry repairs.

Our tints are comprised of a combination of pigments and an aqueous based chemical solution to lighten, darken or completely change the colour of the masonry unit to best match your project’s original or required colour. This tinting formulation has been chosen as it allows the masonry to “breathe” in exactly the same manner as untreated surfaces and therefore the ongoing natural weathering of the building is unaffected. Our tinting process is not a surface treatment, but rather penetrates into the substrate and upon curing creates a durable bond that permanently locks in the colour. Our fixing agent literally petrifies within the substrate

rendering them inseparable. Our tints are light fast, U.V. resistant and unaffected by frost*. Additionally the chemical agent in our tints, by its nature, deters the growth of fungus and algae. Our tint is effective on brick, mortar joints, concrete, stone and pre-cast concrete. As a general rule, if a masonry surface can absorb water, it will accept our stain as well.

The tinting is undertaken on an individual job-by-job basis as no two site requirements are the same. As suitable materials do not always guarantee a successful result, the skill of the technician applying the materials is of prime importance. Our tinters are highly trained and have the ability to create virtually unlimited colours. WarrantyPermaTint® Limited hereby warrants that our masonry tinting performed at the specified job will remain colour fast and durable under normal weathering conditions for a period of up to thirty (30) years from the date the project was completed. If the masonry tinted by us does not maintain its appearance in relation to adjacent untinted units, PermaTint® Limited will ensure corrective action is undertaken to restore the failed units. Our warranty is limited to such restoration.

This warranty will be null and void if the masonry units have been previously or subsequently treated with silicone or any other chemical or acid based treatment. This would include water-proofing agents or accelerators added to the mortar during mixing. Additionally this warranty is invalid if the substrate on which we have applied our tint fails of its own accord.
