Colour

Colour is used in posters to create a certain effective and to draw attention. When creating my poster I will keep a consistency of three colours, this makes sure that the poster isn’t over backed with colour. Each colour portrays a different mode and meaning, to suit my genre of horror I will be using colours that represent and connotate to evil death and danger.

• The Colours that i am considering are:• Black• Grey• Dark blue• Red Each of these colours connotate different meanings:

Red

• means temper and anger on the other hand is can also mean passionate love, love is a common convention in a horror film therefore this is an effective colour to use. Red is associated with fiery heat and warmth and can It can also mean danger as it the colour of blood. Through my analysis I noticed red is a common colour to use therefore I am following this convention and applying it to my own work as it increased enthusiasm and interest

Blue

• Deep blue also share some of the same colour meanings as black, a dark gloomy atmosphere is created in order to set the mood for the audition. Blue symbolism of importance, confidence, power which I’m trying to allow my poster to project. Dark blue adds colour to the poster as well as not overloading the poster with too much bright colours

Black

• Black is authoritative and powerful; because black can evoke strong emotions too much can be overwhelming. Black is a dark colour and creates enigma as when used it doesn’t show the whole image. Black is a deep bold colour and is used in horror films a lot to connotate evil and mystery. Black is a conventional colour used in horror films as it is a powerful colour and evokes strong emotions. Black represents a lack of colour and light, this could connotate the lack of information

Grey

• Grey is the dull dark colour, the colour symbolises void and emptiness why is what I am trying to present through my poster. It has a detached and isolated feeling which relates to the feelings of my main character therefore grey is an effect colour in order to connotate the personality of the main character. The dark use of grey connotates the dark side to the film and indicates the horror genre of the film as the temperate and atmosphere is cold and distant.
