Colour is part of our evolution, our desires and our DNA. It is the ultimate tool, linking our memories and traditions to a visual key. It is personal to the individual, powerful to a nation and is the pinacle of an institution’s stamp on the world. The 9 images in this book are the visual representation of the decision to attract you, evoke experiences in your life and sell not only their product, but memories of a deeply unique experience. They represent both the creators of these colourings and the intentions behind the names but also the affected audience. ‘Baby Blue’ has come to be the visual of childhood but who’s childhood? What does this mean to you? What did it mean to the next customer? Why has ‘Bitter Lemon’ colouring described a taste on the label of a tasteless product? The product names are an ideal, an attempt to describe an undescribable code.
