Simulated Texture: fake texture that is drawn/painted.

Real rocks or water that you can pick up and touch
Simulated Texture (colored pencil)
Texture that is drawn, painted, in a photograph, etc.
Objectives of this assignment
Demonstrate simulated texture using colored pencil shading techniques
Recreate a texture of your choice from a photograph using a range of values, color and shading techniques
Demonstrate how to create tints and shades with colored pencil
Demonstrate effective compositional layout
Demonstrate knowledge of emphasis on the texture

Example
Alligator scales on a car
Assignment
Locate 4 visuals that you would possibly like to draw.
Choose one or combine 2 together and print a color copy.
Create 3 value scales of 8 values each using smooth, scumbling and cross hatching in your sketchbook.
Practice a small portion of the visual (about ¼ of the image) in your sketchbook or on black construction paper.
Draw a white outline of objects you crop in your photo on the final drawing paper (you may want to use the grid!)
