Chanelle Smith, a Collinsville native has joined the Collinsville Chamber of Commerce as the new Communications Coordinator.Born and raised in Collinsville, Chanelle has just recently returned to the area after living on the North Carolina coast for the past 7 years. While in North Carolina, Smith was a Business Development Director for Carolina Medical as well as a member of the local Chamber of Commerce in Pinehurst, NC. “As much as I miss the Carolina weather and beaches, I feel extremely blessed to be able to raise my daughter in the same great community I grew up. I also love that I have the opportunity to be a part of the Collinsville Chamber and my goal is to make sure we keep promoting businesses in our area. In North Carolina, everyone supported local. And I would like to take that idea and do the same thing here. Supporting and promoting Collinsville Chamber Businesses is my primary goal and I look forward to working with every business”.

Carl’s significant contributions to Progress included the develop-ment and upkeep of the holiday lighting displays, area banner programs and many of the additional Progress programs still in place today.

Collinsville Progress is the community de-velopment arm of the Collinsville Chamber of Commerce. The purpose of Progress is to make the community more attractive and appealing to potential businesses and residents and to sponsor projects for the improvement and enjoyment of its citizens.

Progress pays for Christmas decora-tions, street pole banners, makes grants to charitable causes and gives the monthly Carl Schultz Business Improvement of the Month Award and Paul Miller Business As-sociate of the Month Award.

To get involved with Collinsville Prog-ress, or if you have a business to nominate for the Carl Schultze Improvement of the Month Award or an individual for the Paul Miller Business Associate of the Month, contact the Chamber at 618/344-2884 or email us at [email protected].

Would you like to nominate a business for the Carl Schultz Business Improvement of the Month Award? or know of an em-ployee who is deserving of the Paul Miller Business Associate of the Month Award? Get nomination forms from the Member Information Center of the Chamber web-site, Collinsville Progress facebook page, or the Chamber Office.

Progress in Action Award The “Progress In Collinsville Action” award is presented to an organization, group, busi-ness or individual who has made an outstanding contribu-tion promoting progress in the City of Collinsville. The 2016 Progress In Action Award is presented to Gateway Center. Gateway Center is a 105,000 gross square foot facility and hosts over 600 events at year. Gateway Center under the

direction of the volunteer Collinsville Metropolitan Exposition Audito-rium and Office Building Authority Board, contributes to the commu-nity through the many community events that are hosted there. One event in particular contributes a great deal to the community every year. The Festival of Trees continues to be an opportunity for a differ-ent Collinsville Charity or Civic organization to fund major projects. For this the many benefiting organizations are grateful, and the Col-linsville Community as a whole benefits.
