COLLINGSWOOD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH SERVICE FOR THE LORD’S DAY
May 6, 2018 6th Sunday of Easter
ASSEMBLE IN GOD’S NAME
Morning Reflection As Christ ascended to heaven, our spirits are lifted to you
this day, O God. Your Spirit fills all the universe. We dwell within your embrace and cannot escape from your watchful
care. You are with us here, choosing us as apostles and instructing us in the way we should go. Focus our limited understanding on the person of Jesus, that all he did and
taught might come alive in us during this hour. Grant to us convincing proof of your promises as we welcome
your winds of change in our lives. Amen
Prelude Welcome and Announcements
We welcome you in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ! Please sign the guest book in the narthex so we can send you a welcome packet or fill out a yellow welcome card located in the pews. The card can be placed in the offering place.
Gathering of Prayer Concerns and Joys
Please raise your hand to share your joys or concerns to be included in the prayers of the people this day. You may also write your concern on the pink sheets and hand to the Pastor. Please mail a prayer card from the narthex to your loved one.

Call to Worship
Leader: We gather to worship the One who crafted creation out
of chaos,
People: our cries of joy join the anthems of the universe.
Leader: We gather to lift our praise to the God who gives us
voice,
People: we bring the songs which have echoed in our hearts all
week long.
Leader: We gather as the children of God, our joy unbroken in
God's love.
People: young and old, tone deaf and perfect-pitched lift the
new, new songs of faith. *Hymn - “Christ Be Beside Me” GTG #702 tune - Bunessan Prayer of Confession (unison) O God, it is hard for us to wait for anything. We want instant answers and immediate gratification of our desires. We are more acquisitive than grateful. We forgot the amazing riches of your gifts to us and only want more. We do not take time simply to enjoy being in your presence, singing your praises, delighting in your love. Forgive us for our arrogant, selfish pride and our neglect of values and relationships that would supply all we really need. Amen.
Time for silent confession and reflection.
*Words of Assurance Leader: Forgiveness is yours to receive and to proclaim to all nations. People: The power of God at work in Christ is offered to us:
the power of love to make a difference among us. With hearts filled with thanksgiving, let us get to work
sharing this forgiveness with our world.
*Congregational Response - “Great God of Every Blessing” GTG #694 tune - Aurelia Great God of every blessing of faithful, loving care, you are the fount of goodness, the daily bread we share. How can we hope to thank you? Our praise is but a start: sincerely and completely I offer you my heart. *Sharing of the Peace Leader: The peace of Christ be with you. People: And also with you.
PROCLAIM GOD’S WORD Children’s Call - “Come All Ye Children” All children are invited to come play drums during the song Children’s Sermon (Children will follow Mrs. Kolecki out for Sunday School and will return for Communion.)
Anthem - Praise Him, Alleluia! by Eugene Butler Chancel Choir Scripture Reading - Acts 1:1-11 (page 991) Gospel Reading - John 15:9-17 (pages 983-984) *Hymn - “Open Now Thy Gates of Beauty” GTG #403 tune - Unser Herrscher Sermon - “Do You Have Far Sickness?” Rev. Jen Fox
RESPONSE TO THE WORD
Offering & Prayer of Dedication
On this day, we remember that through Christ’s Ascension, we the church have been empowered to be the Body of
Christ. We are called to support the church through our tithes, offerings, prayers and service. As we seek Gods Blessing on all that we offer, may we graciously share
the love Christ with or world. Amen
Musical Meditation The Lord’s Supper Invitation to the Table Great Prayer of Thanksgiving Leader: The Ascended Lord be with you. People: And also with you. Leader: Lift up your hearts to the One who gives us a spirit of
wisdom. People: We open our hearts to Jesus who opens God's words to
us. Leader: Clap your hands, God's people! Sing songs of praise to
our God! People: We sing praises to the One who blesses and blesses us!
We do indeed lift loud songs of joy to you, Awesome God! (Hymn GTG #552) All: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and might.
Heaven and Earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest!
Leader: Like your glory, may your holiness be eternal, God of wind and flames… (prayer continues.)
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
