Don’t Forget to Purchase a Yearbook!

You still have a chance to preserve your CMS memories of the 2016-17 school year by purchasing a CMS yearbook for $50.

You have two options:

• Go to yearbookforever.com to pay online

• Take cash or check to Mrs. Barron in Room 404

2

Please remember that the 1:1 device rollout training is mandatory before your child can receive his/her iPad.

To our band parents, I want to take this opportunity to inform you that Mr. Seek will not be returning this school year. Please know that we will continue as planned with our upcoming concerts and All West performances. Mr. Bryan Finley will be the interim instructor as we look to finish out the school year. Prior to accepting the CMS interim band position, Mr. Finley was the music teacher at Collierville Elementary School for three years. Mr. Finley also holds a degree in music education with an endorsement in K-12 instrumental music. Please join me in welcoming Mr. Finley to our CMS family.

Finally, I want to deliver a very special message to our student body. Students, I am immensely proud of your overall performance thus far as it pertains to the first semester. Each of you at one point or another has had to deal with transitioning to a different grade, exploring your uniqueness, engaging in leadership roles, and attempting to understand social changes, all while trying to achieve high marks academically. Understand that the second semester will bring new challenges, which will also require an increased work ethic to declare this school year a success. I implore you to set personal goals for yourself this semester to achieve the results you seek.

3

Your goal can be as simple as attending tutoring sessions once a week to improve your grades or even setting a higher goal to make honor roll for the third quarter. More importantly, each goal must be reinforced with a plan. What will be your strategy for attaining your goals? What impact will it have on your work ethic? Nevertheless, whatever you define as your goal, I want you each to know that you have the support of not only your parents, but you also have the support of your teachers and administration as you continue your journey in striving for excellence this school year. I wish you all much success and look forward to a great 2017! Sincerely, Roger L. Jones, III Principal, CMS

Reminders from the Front Office

1

We currently average more than 250 cars each morning in our car line and have implemented a new procedure to assist with the traffic flow each morning. We ask that you please follow the new guidelines listed to assist us in improving our traffic flow and getting our students into the school building in a timely manner:

1. When the sign directs you to “stop,” please stop your vehicle. Please have your child exit the vehicle.

2. Please have your child’s belongings ready to unload before he/she exits the vehicle.

Car Rider Line Procedure Update for Morning Drop-Offs

2

3. When the sign shows “slow,” please keep moving until directed to stop. Please do not stop traffic to drop off your child unless instructed to do so. This causes a delay in our line.

4. Please do not make a left turn when exiting the campus. This significantly delays our car line causing traffic to back up. Please make a right turn onto Quinn Road.

We greatly appreciate your cooperation with these changes.

Save your Box Tops, Tyson and Campbell Soup Labels, and Can Tabs!

CMS collects box tops for the Box Tops for Education program. Each box top you turn in is worth 10 cents. You can view a list of participating products at boxtops4education.com.

CMS also is collecting labels from Tyson products and Campbell Soup cans. Tyson Project A+TM labels are on more than 40 Tyson products. And visit labelsforeduation.com for the Campbell Soup products that qualify.

Save your can tabs, too! All money collected from the can tabs directly benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Next Deadline is Friday, Feb. 17 Students from the top homerooms in each grade level who bring in the most box tops by Friday, Feb. 17 will be able to wear PJs or onesies to school on Fri., March 3.
