How to Apply to a College/University
1. Student Application (usually on-line – check for Common Application)
• select a major (or undecided)• may require an essay• usually a fee (waivers available)
2. Transcript showing cumulative GPA

4. SAT/ACT Test Scores (request to be sent from the testing company)
College Application Timeline
Spring Junior Year- take SAT/ACT - college search - create and save your resume
Summer- college search/visits- draft essays- identify deadlines
Fall Senior Year- take SAT/ACT again- apply to colleges
- request teacher, counselor letters of rec and transcripts - note institutional scholarship deadlines Winter Senior Year
- complete FAFSA forms - apply for scholarships - consider rolling admission colleges - send mid-year transcripts if required
Spring Senior Year - receive college decision notices - compare financial packages - confirm your decision (send in a deposit if required) - attend orientation - complete AHS Senior Survey and identify the college where your final transcript should be mailed

Take a look at your financial situation-have honest discussion
