FATIMA COLLEGE (AUTONOMOUS)
(COLLEGE WITH POTENTIAL FOR EXCELLENCE)
(RE-ACCREDITED WITH „A‟ GRADE BY NAAC)
MARY LAND, MADURAI - 625 018, TAMIL NADU

WELCOME ADDRESS
“My heart praises The Lord My soul is glad because of God my Saviour, For he has remembered me his lowly servant! From now on all people will call me happy, Because of the great things the mighty God has done for me”. Luke 1:46-49 Garlands of scholastic achievements are being landed in the land of Mary, Fatima
College, Mary Land. Mankind's greatest service to humanity is education. The great
poet Bharathi says it is better to educate a poor than building feeding centres and
temples. We, the Fatimites feel elated to echo with resounding happiness that we
empower millions of womenfolk of this universe for not only India but every nook
and corner of this world is served by the women who emerged from the portals of
Mary Land. Our dear Mother gave her only begotten son to be the teacher of
humanity and we follow on her footsteps.
Little nuggets about the college would be befitting for a welcome address. After
celebrating the diamond jubilee the fortress walls of Fatima becomes stronger and
sturdier by the unceasing efforts of the sisters of Lyons, whose effort is a milestone in
the history of women in Madurai. A city whose name is synonymous with Tamil has
another feather in her cap in the guise of this college. Wouldn‟t it be wonderful to
remember the great soul who was instrumental in setting up this college? Yes, Our
dear Mother Rose with her untiring efforts and the heart of the Lioness had made it a
reality. Years roll by but the image is still glowing strong and growing in stature.
Honourable chief guest Dr. A. Muthumanickam, a doyen in the field of education,
currently Registrar in charge of Madurai Kamaraj University,
Rev. Sr. Francis Pauline, Secretary, Fatima College, an epitome of wisdom, who
makes millions happy just by her precious smile,
Rev. Dr. A. Jospin Nirmala Mary, Principal, Fatima College, the visionary, in whose
tenure we are reaching new horizons,
The pillars of this institution, the Vice principals,
Rev. Dr. P. A. Mary., Rev. Dr. Lillikutty and Dr. Mrs. Renuga., who shoulder the

Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are
ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who
lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed”. Proverbs in the bible
says thus about women.
We are very happy indeed to welcome all our well wishers, friends from
newspapers, periodicals, and TV channels and we thank you for gracing the
occasion. May our dear mother protect everyone gathered here and may the
