College Success Center Spring 2014 Academic Advising Information Registration for First-Year Success Courses Students may choose from the following ACA success courses ACA 122 - College Transfer Success Recommended for any students who intend to transfer to a four-year institution after CCCC. ACA 115 - Success and Study Skills Recommended for students enrolled in A.A.S. degrees who do not intend to transfer to a four-year institution. Specific sections are noted below for health programs, and these courses will be capped at zero Eligible Programs for Success Course Effective Spring 2014, the success course requirement expanded into most programs of study (POS). New Students should be advised to register for a success course. Returning Students A returning student may be exempt from enrolling in the success course if he/she: • Enrolled prior to fall 2013 or falls under a previous program of study that does not include the course (see above for a detailed list), and • Has maintained continuous enrollment (no more than one semester not enrolled), and • ENG-111A will be waived if they are from a previous catalog and have not yet taken ENG-111 or if they took it at another institution. Those in a previous catalog will not be required to take an ACA course to supplement ENG-111. Note: Students who enroll and do not have previous ACA credit may appeal the success course requirement in the following order: (1) the department chair, (2) curriculum dean, and (3) VP of Student Services. The case for appeal will be especially strong for students who have earned a high number of earned credits toward CCCC graduation requirements, have a satisfactory cumulative GPA, and/or have previously-earned credentials. The College Success Center initiative is part of a 5-year Title-III Strengthening Institutions Program, grant-funded project from the U.S. Department of Education.
