Modern high-throughput technologies such as genome sequencing, next-generation sequencing and microarray expression technology are generating vast amounts of biological data. Our course is unique in giving you the skills and strategies to bridge the gap between computing and healthcare in genomics and bioinformatics. You’ll learn about the use, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of genetics and genomics data, taking account of the ethico-legal, social and healthcare impacts. Statistics, computing and knowledge management will also be covered, along with underlying health issues and associations between gene variants, disease susceptibility and drug response. It supports you as you develop the analytical and research skills necessary to research and write a detailed dissertation relevant to the practice of law, and provides a much-needed bridge between most LLM and MPhil/PhD research methods. Conversion Dissertation.

Our course is aimed at students with little or no previous psychology training. Specialist modules provide all the knowledge and subject skills required by the BPS. There is a large taught component which builds your knowledge and confidence, and a strong focus on designing and conducting your own research projects throughout the course. It culminates in the final dissertation project, an opportunity to demonstrate your critical skills and creativity through the design and implementation of your chosen study.Your dissertation supervisor will be an academic who conducts and publishes research in their own field, such as health, social, cognitive, educational or forensic psychology.You will be assessed through research reports, essays, exams and by a variety of presentations. In addition, you are encouraged to present your work to others, both within our University and at national psychology conferences.
