November 2015, District Information Technology Services conducted a customer satisfaction

survey to evaluate IT services and related support. Overall satisfaction score with SAC IT was

95.3% compared to 69% last year. Broader than the satisfaction survey, this effort enabled us to

hear from you regarding your experience, awareness and usage. We value your opinion and we

thank you for your participation. Your feedback is instrumental to our annual planning process.

Christmas is a joyful time with friends and family. Here are some things you

can do that will help to make your time off more relaxing and stress free:

Make sure your passwords are unique & safe.

Regularly check your credit card statements.

Avoid phishing emails and scams. Phishing

emails with malicious links embedded in them,

such as great holiday gift deals, donation

pitches from charities, and fake delivery

notices from UPS or FedEx, spike during the

holiday season. Think before you click!

Try to avoid public Wi-Fi networks as these

can be filled with cyber hackers. Instead opt

to use your phone or personal hotspot.

Run a back-up of your computer. Ensure

your computer has the most current security

software patches installed.

Secure your technology items while you are

away. Do not leave your laptop, tablet or

smart mobile devices unattended.

The Office of Technology Services Network

Team is currently working on migrating

all the department shared drives to a new

storage environment. The migration wil l

streamline the infrastructure towards a

unified technology platform while improving

system security and reliabil i ty. The

migration is expected to occur over the

coming months and wil l involve folder

migrations and mapping end user accounts

to the new storage infrastructure. During

that t ime, OTS staff wil l closely work with

each department share drive owner to

prepare for a successful implementation.

We expect each drive migration to involve

1-2 hours downtime and a system re-boot.

For additional questions, please contact our

helpdesk at (210) 486-0777.

Password security is key to

keeping personal and work

related information safe!

One of the most common

ways for hackers to gain

access to information is by

cracking passwords. Here

are some tips to keep your

passwords safe:

Create a strong password.

At least 8 characters long

comprising of uppercase,

lowercase numbers and/or

special characters. Make

it significantly different

from previous passwords.

Do not use the same

password for all your

online accounts and avoid

reusing your password.

This way, if someone gets

one of your passwords,

they will not have access

to all your accounts.

Do not share your

passwords and please do

not write your passwords

down.

Please do not respond

to emails asking for your

password. Beware of

Phishing scams.

If your password is

compromised, change your

password immediately and

notify [email protected].

YOU KNOW

In the Spring of 2016, the Alamo Share (SharePoint) District Wide User Committee sent out a survey

to collect feedback regarding Alamo Share (SharePoint). As a result of the survey responses,

the committee has decided to restructure the site to provide an environment which allows greater

efficiency in accessing important documents, forms, news, and other vital Alamo Colleges information.

This Fall, all SAC SharePoint site owners will be contacted by OTS to coordinate the planning and

implementation of the new SharePoint structure and access.
