Woodridge College & Preparatory School is governed according to accepted national and international practicefor Independent Schools.  Our schools are unique in their independence in governance and finance and this setsus apart from state schools.  Independence allows our school four vital freedoms: - To define our mission ;- To admit only those pupils our mission dictates we should serve;- To establish our own expectations for credentials and performance of teachers; and- To teach the truth, as we see it. In a dynamic organization such as a school, there are various power bases and each needs to understand itsrole in the greater picture.  Boundaries need to be set for good governance to occur.  Blurring or oversteppingboundaries leads to unhappiness in any organization and is not conducive to good governance. At Woodridge, the ultimate authority is the Woodridge Trust.  This is a self-perpetuating body that elects its own members whoare appointed for their specific skills.  Their role can be seen as: - To hold the school and its mission in trust;- Set policy (admissions, financial aid, class size, etc.); - To ensure the financial stability of the school;- Appoint and support the headmasters;- Plan strategically for the future; and- Evaluate the performance of the headmasters of the school. The Executive Board of Trustees meet twice a term. Members are:Mr Andrea Puggia - ChairmanMr Paul Lynch  - Vice ChairmanMr Dave Nezar - TrusteeMr George Yerolemou - TrusteeMr Wesa Moss  - TrusteeMr Neil Crawford - TrusteeMr Dave Emslie - Business ManagerMr Derek Bradley - Ex Officio Headmaster - CollegeMr Trevor von Berg - Ex Officio Headmaster - PrepMr Grant Puttergill - Ex Officio - OWA The Executive Committee of Trustees reserves the right to co-opt any person to serve on any sub-committee orfor any expertise which is required for a specific issue. The operational functions of the schools are vested in theCollege Headmaster, Prep Headmaster and Business Manager.  The headmasters of the respective schools aredirectly responsible to the Executive Committee of Trustees.

SPIRITUAL ETHOSWoodridge is a Christian, non-denominational school that promotes the personal development of all pupils inbody, mind and spirit. All the pupils from Grade 8 to 11 attend Divinity classes.  In these classes, generaldiscussions are encouraged. There are also teen Bible Study groups who meet in their free time to seek relevantanswers to life through the study of God’s word. Chapel services are held for boarders on Sundays by the Chaplain, with visiting pastors/ministers from variousdenominations contributing sermons on a rotational basis.  A Chaplain offers spiritual and life guidance to allpupils on a daily basis.  Pupils are encouraged to meet with him individually if required in his capacity asCounsellor.

As a Christian School, Woodridge adopts a holistic approachto education and aims to develop the body, mind and spiritto enable each pupil to reach his or her potential. To achieve this, Woodridge offers and challenges pupils toexperience the broadest possible range of academic, cultural, spiritual, social, outdoor and sporting interactionsby exploiting the following attributes: - individual attention;- a healthy, natural interaction with the environment;- nurturing of leadership and self-discipline;- encourage free thinking and independent individuals; and - service to the community.

We believe that pupils have the right to learn;staff have the right to teach, and parents have theright to service. In order to uphold these rights, Woodridgeencourages the following  values: - Mutual respect and dignity;- Integrity and honesty;- Empathy and interaction;- Tenacity and teamwork; and- Appreciation and care for the environment.
