NOT SURE HOW TO APPLY? NEED HELP?

Representatives from MJC will be here

on two different days to walk Johansen

students through their MJC applications.

The MJC application process has four

different parts: the orientation, the

application, the placement exams and

the advising. For students who sign up

and attend one of the workshops here at

Johansen, the first three parts will be

taken care of on campus.

First, sign up for one of the two

workshop days in the Career Center:

November 15th or November 22nd.

Attend the orientation and

application workshop on the date

you’ve signed up. Make sure to bring

your social security number if you have

one. You will not be able to fill out your

application without it. If you are

undocumented, come to the workshop

and a student number will be given to

you at the workshop.

In the spring, students who attended the

fall workshops will be notified of

placement exam dates. These exams will

only be available to students who attend

the workshop in November and

complete their application.

After the placement exams, you will be

given a day to attend the advising at

MJC.

After the advising, you will be given your

priority registration day and time to sign

up for classes next fall.

scholarships, and more! I’m here to help you navigate this whole process!

Here is the general flow of events for the year.

August - May: > Scholarship application deadlines vary, with the majority of them

being in the spring semester. All of the scholarships that I know of will be printed in this bulletin, so be sure to check it every month!

will be filling them out during your government class in January > For students apply to private or out of state schools, make sure you

complete the CSS Financial Profile (if required by the school) in order to be eligible for financial aid at those schools.

February - April: > College admissions notifications will be arriving. Read them

completely and follow up as needed. > Compare financial aid awards to help determine where you will attend April - May: > Notify colleges if you will be attending > Complete senior survey with Mrs. Hildebrandt > Request your final transcript to be sent to the college you will attend

MJC classes while in high school

Many students choose to take a course at MJC during their senior year to

get a jump start on college credits or to get priority registration for

classes in the fall. Tuition costs are waived for students currently in high

school. Students who are on track for graduation and have demonstrated

that they can handle the additional coursework would do well with the dual enrollment. Many

courses are transferable to 4-year colleges and universities. If you are interested in enrolling in MJC

classes, go to www.mjc.edu and select the Advanced Admissions Form. You will need to fill this out

and get permission from your academic counselor to enroll in classes.

Suggested courses to take: Guidance 110, Health 110, Public Speaking 100 (speech), various

elective classes. Consult the course catalogue to see what is being offered each semester.
